The Suntek software deal for templates is good as it’s just the one off payment and then you can use the software as much as you want. With Premium Shield you get a code every time you buy material that only allows you to cut the amount you’ve bought.

If you look at this pic the red is curling quite a bit, the black completely curls on itself and the unprinted white is fine….this was after about 7 hours. This would indicate to me that the print isn’t outgassed or is still saturated with ink?
The black print also smelt of solvent until after approx 26 hours.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the machine is excellent and I’d still consider it, just not sure about the drying claims and we sometimes do bus wraps which means printing a couple of full rolls at a time which as you can imagine, is pretty difficult to get dried sufficiently before laminating.
Hi Jon,
I would say that’s down to profiling and cheap media, Possibly too much ink has been laid down on the black, could be the reason for strong smell. I can tell you though with the right profile the only smell i have is heated media whats lovely change from what i used to have. I bet you was amazed when you saw the print speed!?. Did you see it print on 1 & 2 pass? :praiseyou: :yikes:
FYI We have done large vehicle wraps not buses however vans etc and use the take up reel (no sticking what so ever). If it will help any print tests you would like done just shout
Thanks
Neil D.I’m pretty sure it was the correct profile and Avery cast is not a cheap film….I’m not really concerned about the material being touch dry when it goes to the take up, my JV33 is fine for that, more about proper outgassing and the material being fully dry for laminating.

That’s why ive never got why latex advertise this!? If i ever wrap anything instantly that means something has gone drastically wrong!.
Are you looking at getting one Jon? or just curious. They are great machines.
Thanks Neil D.
Yes, had a demo and was very impressed. But the claimed drying times…not so sure. I cut strips from the prints after 7-8 hours and they curled up on themselves and the black ink still smelt strongly of solvent. It wasn’t until 24-30 hours later I’d say it was properly outgassed.

I am in a similar position wanting to upgrade from our JV33. Everyone seems to be getting the HP latex machines but whenever I look seriously into it there’s a few downsides..the extra power requirements, the colours going off when the heads begin to wear, the more complicated loading etc.
The big problem with solvent machines is the outgassing, Fine if you’re doing small prints, but not good when you are doing big van or bus wraps. There’s no way you can effectively out gas the prints when you’ve printed a full roll or two.
That’s why I started the topic on the new Epsons, They claim 4-6 hours for outgas plus better gamut, ink usage etc. There don’t seem to be a whole lot of people running them though so hard to get opinions..
-
No, they claim 6 hours for outgassing with the GS3 inks
-
Don’t even tell them you listen to Talk Radio as they claim you owe them for the little bits of music on adverts or station stings. Even if you say you listen to music on headphones they want you to cough up!
Total scammers.
-
How does the shorter outgassing time work given it’s still sovent?
-
quote Luke Culpin:In the near future we are looking to upgrade our Latex 260! I thought I would definitely be looking at only a new latex machine! However, after a very in depth look at the Epsom 80600, I was extremely impressed! The thing that was keeping towards latex was the short period until you can laminate, which is apparently not the case with new latex machines! In the USA, Epsom are quoting 4-6 hours before laminating!
That’s got to be better than 24-48 hours though, surely?
-
It doesn’t have the repositional adhesives of the high end films so its quite a bit harder to work with..

I would go matt or satin
-
This is why I think it’s a bit of a false economy. It’s commendable they are making a cheaper wrap vinyl but it takes a lot longer to fit than with the repositionable adhesives that the more expensive brands use, culminating in this new Arlon SLX which is incredibly easy to fit.
-
And he wasted your time making you go and see him though…
