Black wrap with print, best method of producing, ideas please?

if you do not print the whole thing, I think the overall finish will look naff. please do not take that wrong, I mean it constructively. the issue is the flag!

before I go on, remember your customer should be looking at paying £1800+ for this van to "look right".

let’s say you wrap the van black.
the silver panel on the side will be applied next, as another layer.

you then have the FLAG.
this will be printed onto "white" unless you have a white ink option and print to clear.
you will never match the true black of the black base wrap. you will need to laminate the flag print, the gloss of the laminate will not be same as the black gloss. so there you have a shift in colour and finish. no big deal, but still looks bitty and not 100%.
if you finish the blended flag wrapping inside the door joins you will hide the edge, if it bridges onto the door slightly like in the artwork, you will see the edge of the white media showing against the black base wrap and the black print. (hope that makes sense)

you could print and laminate the logo or cut that in layers and apply on top.
the logo will then be bridging the silver panel over onto the flag, so you will have a double step line showing as it crosses the silver band, unless you do a but join using a filament cutting tape.
all in all, you now have multiple layers of vinyl stacked.

the same applies elsewhere, just repeating what I have said.
at the end of the day, it’s all doable and visually it may look ok, but at this point, you have your hand out asking to be paid and a customer looking over it all for any defects before parting with his money.

do not get me wrong…
printing the whole thing also has its drawbacks. for a start, you will need to get all the alignment of the logo, silver band etc all bang on level/straight before applying, which isn’t just as easy as many think. personally, ide still do the bullet points and telephone number etc along the sill separately. just to give you a bit of margin for error.

on a side note, if that band on the side is "silver" and not grey, you aren’t going to be able to print silver.

Cheers Rob, its like you are reading my mind here and saying all the issues i have in my head but you put it out in text a lot better than me, i don’t want it to look layered and id rather it all as one wrap, i guess its only real option is printing it all

Another good reason to apply vinyl on top of a wrap 😉

Cheers guys, we popped the lights out but just trimmed into the bump strip, they are on with D/S tape and loose shape etc when removed so they always look crappy refitted so the customer was happy to have them left in place
