Colours changed during print
Posted by Daniel Evans on March 26, 2017 at 9:24 pmHi
But of a strange one for me.
I was printing a solid colour due to not having a vinyl that matches, upon fitting the graphics I notice that the colour changes, it’s very minimal but you can see the difference.
It seems to of happened half way through then goes back to normal.
What could this be?
It’s a vsi 640

Hi Daniel, not sure if you had started the install , but could it have been due to over heating the vinyl when installing. In regards to printing , I seem to get this on solid cyan prints

Nothing to do wth over heating, I checked another print before installing and it’s gone the same way. When I laminated the print, I also done this cold. Used mdx and their correct profile. Funnily enough it is a greeny blue colour

Light blue, cyan, and greenish blue are all notoriously difficult to print consistently right. I have no idea exactly why. We often get some random differences in colour through the print whenever we print these shades, I hear the same thing from other people too.

Thanks Simon, not a great outcome but at least I’m not doing anything wrong. Do you tell the clients that there could be colour shifts when printing these colours?
-
Hi Daniel,
We’ve been having ongoing problems with this issue, since we had the machine.
We’ve mainly experienced it on 100% Cyan, Roland spot colour blues, greens, purples, browns and yellows.
As of yet we’ve had no solution for the problem.
Our machine is also a VS 640i with Lightbar
Can you let us know if you find a fix that works?

What are the latest generation of printers, HP etc. like for solid colours?
-
Hi,
Which ink are you using?
We had similar problem.
Thanks

we have a 640i
ecosol max 2 inks
we find any slight temperature change even a door opening will result in a colour shift
the print room needs to be stable in all areas as with most printers.
but also quality media is a bonusDerek
