Here’s another great tip … (-)
The ‘el cheapo’ plastic squeegees from Grafityp (£3 for 10) are great for chopping up lettuce!
The plastic blade chops through them effortlessly and prevents the lettuce from browning.
They are a must for every kitchen 😮

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the boards, as you will see, division and local pride means a great deal for a lot of the members. I won’t go into that, but, hey keep this quiet; shhhh …

Hey Doyle,
Welcome to the group.
I’m sure you’ll find a couple of old pros on here 😉 ahem 😳
As you’ve already seen there are a lot of people here with a combined knowledge that is nothing short of an encyclopedia!
Ask as many questions as you wish, especially about the VersaCAMM.

Hi Rob and welcome back !!
6 day round trip – you must be knackered.
I didn’t see you wave as you passed junctions 35/6 on the M6 :cheer: 😉
I thought you might have called in for a coffee (I can make a decent cup of coffee unlike a certain UKSB member I could mention :lol1: )
Glad to have you back.
Have a rest, you’ve earned it!

Hi big G,
There are quite a few printer suppliers at the show but don’t let that worry you, LED, specialist vinyl and framing suppliers etc. are holding their ground.
I didn’t manage to find any free blades bit I did get a free laser engraver !!!! It’s amazing what gets thrown in when you buy a couple of pieces of engraved wood and perspex 😉
Enjoy the show.

Hi John,
I met up with Lee Harris and also bumped into the guys from Arch-Digital at the LikwidArt stand (or however it’s spelled/spelt <must use spell chack>).
I really enjoyed today but the exhibition didn’t seem as big as last year! Is this just me or does anybody else think this?
It would have been nice to be there tomorrow to meet up with more folks from the group but the work load wouldn’t allow – maybe next year!
Mark

Sorry guys,
Been, seen and grabbed all the freebies 😉 😮 😉
Had a fantastic day, thanks to all the suppliers for making us very welcome and great to meet some of the group members!
Not too good on the way home – had to take a 2 hour detour because the M6 was closed due to an accident so it took 4.5 hours to get home 😕 which made today a very long day – but worth while.

I tend not to use it for long winded posts, simply because a lot of the words such as you’ve mentioned haven’t been available ,therefore it’s taken longer to spell check than write the post in the first place.

Hi Mark, Many thanks I’ll be in touch later today – thanks.
Hello Rodney,
Thanks for such an informative reply. You say that Silvo will remove the ‘engraving’ of Sterling Silver, is this the same for any highly polished metal that is engraved by use of a topical coating?
Slate is something I would really like to do as I think I’ve found a great little niche in the market that needs filling 😉
I’ll keep this short as I’ve got one of those here, there and everywhere days just about to start – but, it’s strange how you’ve mentioned the GCC Explorer II because the machine I’m looking at is the 30-40W GCC Spirit. It’s smaller overall and has a smaller bed than the Explorer but it would fit perfectly into our working environment. Plus, and I know this might sound silly – it uses USB connectivity and as the machine I will buy will be running from a laptop – have you tried to buy a laptop with a printer/parallel port these days? It’s like trying a buy a television in any colour other than silver!
I will certainly look at the links you have provided – thank you, much appreciated!

MemberMarch 19, 2005 at 7:51 am in reply to: what sizes of application tape are available and where?Hi,
I prefer to use R Tape 4075RLA, it’s a very clever tape that allows graphics to be rolled up without any crinkling or tunneling – great if graphics need to be sent out to customers. I buy a 1220mm log and have it slit to 2 x 610’s
Clear tape is something I have used but stay away from now, too much static for my liking.
Quick tip – running a metal ruler along both sides of the unwound clear tape removes most if not all of the static.

I can work with ECO-SOL inks unlike full solvent inks that aggravate my asthma! Plus I can supply unlaminated graphics for use in small confined areas that don’t stink the place out.
The VersaCAMM can also print onto both coated and uncoated media opening the possibilities of printing onto artists’ canvass, coated papers and many more of the emerging specialist medias.
Also the VersaCAMM doesn’t ‘gum’ up if not used for a couple of weeks or even months, that reason alone should persuade people to use ECO-SOL inks and avoid what can be a very costly, messy and time consuming problem.
I think I’ll stick with Roland and the VersaCAMM.
<just my 2p’s worth> 😮

To find and set it;
On the control panel press
MENU
and scroll to
INK CONTROL – <press right>
EMPTY MODE – <press right>
then press up or down to select
STOP – to stop printing when ink needs replacing
or
CONT. – to continue printing when ink needs replacing and it will print approximately another square metre before ‘really’ stopping.
finally press
ENTER & MENU to take you back to the normal display! It’s nice to find the Epson stickers inside the cartridges when you pull them apart 😉 so I’ve been told :lol1: 😉 :lol1: 😮

Mike, the following link will take you to where you can produce your own text 3D auto sterograms.
http://www.eyetricks.com/stereograms/onlinetools/stereocreator.htm
I have purchased software that allows me to make stereo grams out of virtually any high contrast image – “Why?” You might ask, well….
I have a unit at Botany Bay (Charley, Alongshore) where I sell said images plus other optical illusions and digital art, all produced on the Versicle. It’s another avenue in which digital printing can make an impact and of course bringing in those lovely pieces of paper that have the Queen’s head on them.

Mort, very good!!
Here’s one for ya..
There once was an old couple who had been married for thirty years.
Every morning the old boy would wake up and give off an enormous f@rt, much to his long suffering wife’s annoyance.
“You’ll trump your guts out one of these days,” she always complained.
After a particularly bad week the wife decided to have her revenge and got up early, placing some turkey giblets in the bed next to the old boy’s butt.
While making breakfast downstairs she heard his usual morning guff reverberate through the floorboards followed by a scream.
Twenty minutes later a rather shaken man came downstairs.
“You was right all along Missus,” the old man says, “I finally did f@rt my guts out, but by the grace of God, and these two fingers, I managed to push ’em back in!”

MemberFebruary 22, 2005 at 1:28 pm in reply to: Hell with printing graphics on cling vinyl can anyone helpHello Ian,
I have had really good results with printing with the VersaCAMM onto clear! The variable ink setting did puddle quite badly but the variable dry works a treat.
I don’t know if this will help but here are the settings I found worked best for me, you may able to fiddle around and see if they work for the Cadet.
Hexis micro2 profile (one way vision film)
720×720 dpi
Variable dry
Overprint 1
Pass count 16
Head speed 500I used 35oC print and 45oC drying heat, I also have to use the long media clamps to stop the media ‘puckering’ at the sides.
I hope this is of help.

We make our own wine and currently there are 10 gallons of Chardonay on the go plus 5 gallons of Rioja and 5 gallons of Shiraz (only 120 bottles on the go at the mo).
We don’t drink it all ourselves, family and friends do enjoy giving us a helping hand when they visit.
It’s much cheaper than buying wine and in most cases it’s usually better than most bought mid range wines (£5-£10 per bottle).
Oh, and it’s fun making it!

Hello Iosif,
Just to clarify – how many metres of vinyl did you print and at what what spacing were the labels?
I’m guessing between 45m and 70m of vinyl used with a 3mm maybe 5mm spacing.
This is the amount of ink I’d expect to use on such a job, this does not include head cleaning etc. but 109ml of ink is a lot to use for few labels.
If you need any help on profiles etc. please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi Peter,
You are right, these people need help, and they need it now.
It’s just that we are here on this group to help each other and to some extent to help ourselves, it would just be ‘nice’ (no personal gratification needed/wanted because as the death toll rises, I feel more and more upset each time) but it would be nice to know that we did something as a team to help those who really need it.
Even if group members anonymously (some how) logged how much had been donated then we could all be aware of the good that had been done.
As I’ve said – £500 from me.
Everyone, please dontate what you can afford to.
Mark
