excellent reply as ever rodney.. thank you mate…
never actually thought about engraving forum or if it would be successful on the boards? having said that, i do see allot of engraviners registering, but not so much posting… possibley the reason?

does anyone else recon it could be a good forum to add?
i can open one with picture upload facilites to show work and also move existing work/posts from other forums to it…

    any thoughts folks?

if enough want it, then ill do it… not a problem 😀

(for the record) i/we do engraving also… i just would call myself an engraver or specialists of ANY sort, but i have produced some nice work.
i think there is allot to learn about engraving and the techniques on producing quality products.

Sounds like a good addition. Alot of ppl would like to learn more about engravers, laser or otherwise, so no doubt it would be popular as an information resource. There are quite a few posts relating to engraving floating about though, just that they tend to be dispersed throughout the other forums.

    Cheers, Dewi

I think the idea is brilliant!
    (hot)
As well, as the pics facilities Rob mentioned. I’m starting a small business based on laser engraving soo this couldn’t come in a better time. I know already all the foruns Rodney said, but lately it seems they all are in a “cooling” situation, not many posts, pictures or something to discuss about.
Would be great if you do a forum like that after all, this is the most friendly and participated forum i know, certainly it could be good for all the engravers already registered and for all signmakers in general coz’ they could share some technics involved in both processes.

    Rob, just go for it!!!

I’m going to be engraving some plaques tomorrow morning here at work. I had to double check on the info. They are for the winners of a “Junior” model builder search involving Lego’s. The winner is 36 years old. :lol1: I guess some people never outgrow the bricks.

sounds good we don’t engrave but get asked it would be helpful to know where to steer people apart from the yellow pages or thomson because you don’t know what thier work is like, but I always say don’t know them but 😮

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me also – I only do laser engaving but have thought about mechanical machines too. Be interesting to have somewhere to discuss jobs etc.

I’m all for an engraving section on the boards, I have made a few posts of work done and also done some work for other members. Mechanical engraving and laser. It all helps, and to share info and resources would be a great bonus for anyone interested in adding the sale of engraved products to their list of possibilities, either as resellers or by getting help to set up in house. Please though lets keep actual prices in the members section only or use the pm section. ppl may not fully understand the work at the set up stage that goes into making even the smallest engraved badge or label, engraving can be very cut throat at best without plumbers jumping in and trying to SCRATCH a bit of beer money. 😕

i recon i will go with it and create one, give it picture loading fascilities etc
though the pictures etc the forum will be open but pictures will only be veiwable to register users.
all i can ask for when it is open to make a point in posting in that forum until we get it into full swing, regardless to how insignificant you think a process is, it may help others heaps… 😀

forum title will be under “routering & engraving”

    Hi and Welcome David 😀

Slightly off topic, but I noticed it was your first post, so I thought I’d say Hi 😀

On topic, I think the engraving forum will be a valuable addition, looks like everyone who has commented is in agreement as well 😀

the honest truth mate! i think its a great idea… and i WILL open one, BUT… until i can get my home computer linked to the net again, I’m stuck 😕 i am having a major tiff with BT at the moment and i am promised it will be sorted soon, exactly when this is i do not know, so i am looking at alternatives now.

i could open a new forum in 10 minutes, but i would like to do it right, new banner and proper facilities for those to use it to its full potential. i noticed Rodney mentioning it again too, which i meant to email him about but then problems struck 😮

anyway, rest assured folks im getting there in the background… just things really piling up around me now :lol1:
oh and i am still at work just now 😕 never got finished till late tonight doing a whole load of flat cut letters and installing them. now i am on here trying to catch up on email backlog and access before heading home for a few drinks. :lol1:

oh well, i guess these things are sent to try us, eh? 😮 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

5 mins more and im off home… 😉

Great idea. I use my cnc mainly for prismatic work but don’t do nearly as much engraving as I would like. Definitely think some inspiration could be had from an engraving forum. Looking forward to it
