Working on a SUNDAY
Anybody else sad enough to be working on a sunday?
Got one vehicle to do and a few t-shirts to print for monday and then I’m going for a skate (hot)
I was suposed to do the vehicle yesterday but the weather was so bad had to put if off. Oh for a warm workshop.
I keep telling myself that I will look back on these days and laugh

I’m with you Becky. Told the wife I’d take the day off, and although I am home and not at the office, I’m still doing artwork for jobs this coming week. At least the phone is quiet 😉

im in too.. been in an hour & half so far.
not work as such, we have gutted some offices and work space and pulled down walls. we have re-built partition walls forming larger office and showroom, reception etc. plasterer is now taping up wals and plastering ceiling. should be finsihed in a few days ide think. i was in saturday doing same… should be good once its all finished.
im shattered though 🙁 :lol1: -

I’m in sorting some stuff out as well, off soon though to beg the wife to do some weeding for me, 100 small car club stickers loads of 5mm high letters, so it’s into grovel mode for me 🙄

I have spent day doing the VAT and getting ready for the Jan deadline for my tax return. Just my opinion but if anybody in business feels that Saturday or Sunday is a day off then I have to question how long one can last in business with that approach.

I’m currently battling with the Inland Revenue return too and have just noticed discrepancies with Europoint invoices. We always collect our orders from them and give them a cheque for the amount showing on the delivery note. I’ve just noticed that when they send us the invoice, there is often a different amount on it usually just about 20 pence or so. What figure should I use – the amount on the invoice or the amount actually paid out?

Oh dear.
I got up at 10 o’clock after a good night out, had a leisurely breakfast and read the paper. Went out to the garage with the intention of tidying up around my bikes a bit but decided I couldn’t be bothered and came back inside.
Since then I have been alternating between reading a rather good book, piddling about on the internet and planning my next trip to France.
Signdevil, you might be right for anybody trying to build a business, but I have done all that weekend working routine and got to the stage where I want to start reaping some of the benefits of many years of long hours and hard work.
John, it’s the figure on the invoice that matters. You’ll have to start again I’m afraid. 😕

You all have me feeling really guilty now 😕
Got up, had breakfast and took minime and Mrs D ten pin bowling. Its my first attempt at bowling, so I thoroughly enjoyed lobbing the ball down the lanes 😀 Even managed to get a strike (I think thats what its called anyway) Minime really enjoyed it as well, he’s actually really good at it 😀
Off for some dinner at the pub, then a walk around the local park, home for a rest and just about to have my tea 😀
I’m normally a workaholic, but I figure if I don’t take a day off now and then, why am I doing it all? Humble opinion, but I reckon you should enjoy some of your life while you’re young rather than wait for retirement when more often than not you’re a tad tired anyway 😕 🙂

WORKING ON A SUNDAY… Just spent the last 5hours and 45mins installing two 8ft x 7ft light box signs, cant feel my fingers or toes , Never again, in future i will sub contract out this sort of stuff

Did a little bit today for a customer/friend, but that was after i had been out getting dirty.
Do a bit of off-roading when I can.
I do often work on sunday but I always make sure I compensate during the week, all work and no play…………..

I try and keep weekends clear so I can have the time off.
I rarely work on a Saturday and can’t remember the last time I worked on a Sunday.
I’m always thinking about my work though, and I do work hard all week. 😕

i never ever work weekends, only if i have to work down south.
saturday is my kick back, ill get up logon and answer emails.. by 12 noon ill be having a beer. i normally take the missus and wee girl for lunch and let jodie play in the play areas of the restuarnt, (brewsters) from there round shops, & back home, if i dont carry on with the beer i kick back and watch tv. sunday is much the same minus the drink :lol1: sundzy night im back on here working away. but nothing physical…
if i didnt have my weekends to myself ide go crazy, i work night and day all week. gotta have something to look forward to havent wee.. 😉 -
We have just finished weeding piddly little breast logo prints which Steve is now popping into work for a while to heat press …. customer collecting them tomorrow morning at 8am 😕 I have some artwork to do this evening while he is doing that ….. but, idle thumbs and all that though 😉 😛 I like to keep busy 😀
We tend to make sure that we have no fitting jobs in for the weekend …. especially as we have the two kids, we like to keep weekends family orientated if we can … well at least until they go to bed anyway …. then out comes the laptop and Steve gets on the pc. We usually get quite a bit of artwork done in the evenings ….. less interuptions from the phone or customers popping in.
But I agree with Dewi and we take full advantage of any free time we can take off from work, the odd morning of afternoon here ….. you do only live once and your kids are only young once too.
Crikey I could babble on forever about all this :lol1: I won’t bore you any longer 😉

Worked Saturday till lunch time ish then went shopping with the missus 🙁 had our usulal “I hate shopping with you!” argument Why? Why? Why? Why? please tell me I’m not the only one??? 🙁 dropped the shopping off then went to the local for a steak and a few beers, back home and watched Walking Tall with the Rock on dvd, don’t bother its pants :D. Got up Sunday went to Skeggy on the beach took the dog for a run and flew me kite for a couple of hours, went home cleaned up in the garden a bit had dinner then went and did a bit of design work on the puter in bed by 11:30.

Had to go in yesterday and finish a truck. Started at 7 and finished at 11. Took the rest of the day off ( to keep the Boss happy).

It’s strange how your attitude changes when you become self employed. I always believed in the importance of weekends – having a couple of days without even thinking of work. Now I sometimes lose track of which day of the week it is. I’ll work whenever work is there to be done. That said, if things are quiet on a weekday I’m off down the snooker club!

Yes, same as Paul. Just doing odds & sods. Cleaning unit, sorting out the office desks and pc’s. Got home about half an hour ago, just cleaned – dirty – van, now sitting down watching F1 reply before I start again on our ‘home’ office…………..just another ‘Lazy Sunday Afternoon’

Glad I’m not alone….
Sunday seems to be the only day now i can get the “technical” jobs done! during the week it’s just bang crash wallop phones ringing suppliers giving excuses, staff having bad hair days (we employ 3 ladies) including the guys! I don’t know i sometimes wonder if 7 days will ever be enough?
still must not complain in some ways at least i earn a living to support my family!
Hey Paul was that the Epson 1290 i saw you bought? I would be very interested to hear how you get on with it if you don’t mind me being nosy, I am always being pestered by my three children that work with me to look into doing mugs, clothing and the like, trouble is I don’t have the first clue about subliminal & screen printing, i will be at Sign 2005 and have agreed to be “shown” things by my family then so who knows????

Did about three hours of printing this morning before packing up and spending the rest of the day in the garden – which included setting fire to the pampass grass (that was fun).
I agree with you big G, being self employed does make weekdays and weekends the same, if work has be done then it’s done. If the weather is nice then it’s out with the dogs, in the garden or flying model aircraft :plane: or picking up the pieces 🙄

Try not to work weekends if I can help but always seem to end up doing something work related.
Last weekend it was at home getting several designs out of the way.
This weekend we got up to date with the invoicing.Still have countless quotes I need to get done, it seems never ending at times.

O’ the relentless march of the quote! boy do i know what you mean! and to cap it all we did a quote for a builder three weeks ago for two vans my designer Vickie spent ages getting it spot on, we take all precautions, copyright in big letters on quote etc.
our sales lady called him up on Friday doing the weekly sweep up and he said he was not interested. i drove past his yard yesterday and you guessed it they have been done and the company that’s done them could not design their way out of paper bag! my daughter says sue them? i said whats the point £1,000 latter some district judge says ah but where is your proof? our word against his and sure as neck the vinyl company will say its their design that will miraculously be a few days old than our quote!
but hell what can you do?

You could always set fire to the builders yard. If you’re careful and do it at night – chances are you’ll never get caught 😉 . While you’re at it – if you know the company that copied your design – set fire to their premises as well (:)

Working at the weekend? Disgraceful.
4pm on Tuesday and I’ve just returned from a weekend in Normandy for which I left on Thursday morning. I have eaten and drunk far too much, but I did bring back a couple of dozen oysters which I shall enjoy for my dinner tonight.

Well Andy, it’s a pity you arranged your Cottingham job for last weekend. If I had been at home you would have been welcome to bring the van to my workshop and do it here.
It wouldn’t have been a problem because my workshop is always empty at the weekend. 😀 😀 😀
