How many units of alcohol do you drink each week?

For a woman, the recommended maximum is 14 units (1 unit being half a pint of beer, a small glass of wine, or a measure of spirits – Bacardi breezers don’t count as they are for Cissy’s 😉 ). For men the recommended limit is 21 units.

Are you above or below the recommended limits?

If, and it is a big if, I were a hermaphrodite, or maybe a cross dresser, I would technically be able to have 35 units. Wouldn’t I?

    I’d still be a wino.

🙂 I can take it or leave it, 🙂

Suppose this was due to the introduction of the stuff at (drink1) 16 whilst in the forces. (drink1)

I only hope I can do the same with :yikes: smoking :yikes: as I have vowed to stop on the 1st March, along with 6 mates.

Are you sure they dont mean 21 units a night?

    Thats does sound more plausable!

21 units a week! 😮 Thats kind of a low figure, I consume an average of 56 units a week, and I don’t class myself as a heavy drinker 😕

Working on the government figures though, one pint would equal 2 units, so if someone were to go out on a Friday night and consume 10 pints, apart from not being able to stand up, would have consumed 20 out of the 21 units 😮 Bizarre!

Fred, I see a big difference between the other lads here that consume the grog, and your own consumption.

Everyone else that drinks at your pub, is money in your pocket. but when you drink, it is money out of your pocket. That would be enough to get me to only have a few :lol1:

I am not a big drinker anyway. I only consume grog on days of the week that end in a ‘y’

    cheers

I have two big plastic tubs that the garbage man picks up every Tuesday for recycling. Most of the time they are both full of bottles. And I live alone!

Despite having a fair collection in my cellar (about 400 bottles of red and 200 of white, plus a few of champagne) I don’t actually drink that much. The thought of having a drink in the evening never crosses my mind, however, put me in the right company round the dinner table and watch it disappear. 🙂 In the right circumstances, like an evening in my favourite Normandy hostelry, and five units an hour is not unheard of. Good job it doesn’t happen all that frequently.

I suppose that makes me the worst of all beasts – the binge drinker. Just don’t tell my doctor!!!!

Of course you can live in my cellar Dewi. I’m sure we can negotiate a figure for the rent.

Of course, the view isn’t up to much.

Over 600 bottles of plonk, who cares about the view! Does the rent include a cork screw? 😀

I see the voting has swung in favour of the moderate drinkers 😕

Come on all you sly tipplers – give us your support and lets swing the vote the other way.

By the way “My name is Shirley and I’m an alcoholic transvestite” 😕

I do like to have a regular tipple
Spirits don’t seem to affect me for some reason (up to a point of course)

I like to relax in the evening and chill out with a glass (glass, glass, glass)

Just recently however I’ve just gone teetotal just to prove a point to myself that I’m not hooked

    Its six weeks thus far
Seem to be eating loads of chocolate and other niceties

Its just to prove a point you know!

    Guess I’ll be back soon

When I was in Wales last September for a wedding, everyone gave me a strange look when I didn’t have a pint of beer with my breakfast the day after the wedding. It was the only day I was feeling under the weather and you would have thought I had some disease the way everyone was looking at me and staying away. My family takes their drinking seriously. I don’t think they would let me back in the country if I had more blood than alcohol in my system! I might post some pictures and a story about the “safety” meeting they had while I was out there….stay tuned! 😀

We make our own wine and currently there are 10 gallons of Chardonay on the go plus 5 gallons of Rioja and 5 gallons of Shiraz (only 120 bottles on the go at the mo).

We don’t drink it all ourselves, family and friends do enjoy giving us a helping hand when they visit.

It’s much cheaper than buying wine and in most cases it’s usually better than most bought mid range wines (£5-£10 per bottle).

Oh, and it’s fun making it!
