New Eco sol inks coming
Posted by Rodney Gold on June 24, 2005 at 9:29 amOur local Roland dealer has invited us to attend the launch of the Eco-sol-max inks.
Claims are
1) Bigger carts
2) 15% cheaper
3) better scratch resistance than hard solvents
4) Wider colour gamut
5) Less odour
6) Longer outdoor life
I am waiting with bated breath – if indeed this is all true , then its a great step in the right direction.davidimo replied 18 years, 9 months ago 7 Members · 8 Replies -

Now that sounds like good news.
I have been very dissapointed with the Ecosol scratchabillity. Has caused a few headaches, but you live and learn! 🙄

I am in the same boat Mike, trouble is as you say you live & learn, but it’s expensive way to learn.

Its gotta be true , my post on the American Roland forum has been deleted as they say they havent announced it yet there.
I get a LOT of posts deleted there cos you only supposed to post “nice” things. They get a little p—ed off when I post “secret” stuff they havent announced or take them to task on any issue. Its a bloody CLOSED users board for those that have Roland machines , the “official” roland forum to all intents and purposes and you cant even READ the forums if you havent sent em a copy of your serial no of your machine so I dunno why the paranoia – perhaps they dont want to get the yanks too excited?Amazing that we in South Africa , which is really a little bit of a backwater get to know about and get the new product way before the American market – odd strategy on Rolands part (Roland is Japanese)
But anyway , it does appear good news and I will be changing over , mainly due to bigger carts and cost , the durability issue has never been a sore point with me.
I think one of the reasons Roland have gone this route is cos of the converted machines , it might now be not a good strategy to get one , and Roland regain control over ink sales , the machine etc .
But is STILL remains to be seen if the sales blurb is true. -
I reckon Roland have been forced into this because of the converted machines where scratchability is not a problem.
All the more reason to buy a converted machine as the 3rd party ink suppliers are starting to appear at around 50% of the price. This will force ink prices down for these machines and remove the “monopoly” from the manufacturers.
That’s if they work…. !!!
