NEW Ticker Tapes, thoughts please?
hi all, you may have noticed by now a few amendmants to the site. the obvious one is the ticker tapes for the file swapping and quotes forums.
well, im basically after some thoughts on this new feature?
if you could use the voting options at the top of this post and maybe also reply to this thread with some feedback, it would be appreciated.my thoughts were it was fast, so it has been slowed right down. it seems slow waiting on the first post to appear but after that reading is easy and not too slow… what do you think?
remember folk have to be able to read it in that short space were it appears…. when it was faster & because there are two tickers going at once, it hurt your eyes a bit… maybe just me :lol1:the idea behind it is to just keep posts under our nosies. with upto 350 posts being made in a day its very easy for a post to be made in the morning and completely gone from recent posts by lunch time. so it gets little or no replies due to regulars only using the fast glance option of the latest posts box, rather than browsing the forums.
i have thought about having the scrolling box like we have now for latest posts, but… this would take up too much depth out of the right hand column.any thoughts?

Honestly, I never noticed it until you just mentioned it. The problem I have with it is you have to sit there on the main page and watch it scroll by while you are doing nothing. I think it would be just as quick, if not quicker, to click on the ForumIndex and just go to each discussion and take a quick peak at the topics. I rarely spend more than a few seconds on the main page. I usually go straight to “Last 24 Hours” and scroll back to the last post I read and work my way back to the newest posts from there. It’s a good idea Robert, just not working for me.

Not sure. I like the idea but I also agree with what Marekdlux says about having to sit there and read them all.One question…..How many post’s will it display…..new ones only within an hour or within 4 hours or on that day only.
Would not want to sit there and look at post’s 2 weeks old. Have I made myself clear on that?
Robert. I think you need one more voting box for the ‘Not Sure’ vote……like mine

I like the idea, maybe scrolling a little faster would be better though.
