Well basically, northerners are a lot less intelligent than their superior, Southern counterparts. I think it’s because of all the coal that they burn, kills the brain cells.

They also race whippets every Sunday, drink warm beer and walk 50 miles to work every day over broken glass.

Talking of sheep reminds me of an old joke:-

An ageing Welshman takes his grandson up the hill,as they did every Sunday afternoon. This particular day the welshman point out all the houses on one side of the valley and says to his grandson
“All them houses over there, i built them. Do they call me Jones The Builder?, NO”

He then points out all the houses on the other side of the valley and says

Oh Yeah, LOTS of Coal around here…
We had a coal furnace for the first twenty years of my life.. taking care of it was my chore for as long as i can remember….

The steel mills are pretty much gone now, but still are part of the culture.
I worked as a mechanic at an aluminum extrusion plant that was built around the WW II era. The machinery was amazing to say the least.
