We parked at Slough and got the train to Paddington, then did the underground.. u need to review train prices before doing this way.
Parking was a fiver at Slough but dont know what it is at Excel, we used the route to take a break of driving and without going onto the dreaded M25.

The Dust extractor will need discussing, it isn’t that expensive and is efficient but we can use it on the new machine.
Offers in region of £10K

UV Printing is an art, however I have such printer but a number of factors to take into account.
Hi volume of static electricity play havoc with printer heads. Anti static bars a must.
White has to be used on the printer weekly or it seizes up (unless u have a flush out method).
Smaller sheets require hold down, hard to do on moving belt printers.
surface prep maybe required for ink adhesion, but can mark marterial.
The head is close to the print, any further away causes static patternsMy advice…. printed clear vinyl applied to sheet and cut by hand.

we will see.. Fespa indeed but the machinery is pretty much there at the moment
-
many threads on this…. u got to ask yourself the question of "cost saving".. in my opinion costs can be saved if the printer is running all the time with 3rd party ink but original ink can be better for when the machine is idle.
I still regret going away from original inks as it cost me more in the long run with down time

To be honest, Onyx is heavily profiled for the L25500, the other rips may run it but colours are important on this RIP and Onyx does drive the Spectrophotometer which is used for fine tuning profiles.

I did explain my connections with this site, so let me point out that the site is "created by sign makers for sign makers" and at times we need to back each other up with issues so we don’t run into financial loss ourselves when failure of products. It is not just Vinyls (although i got stung by Image Perfect advertising claims!), it is Glues that don’t stick (or miss-marketed), LED lights that wont light a sign up, Economy Banner materials that break after 3 years… the purpose of the site is to pass "knowledge" and experience on to other sign makers and for the sake of suppliers.
You have to carefully word your replies, in this case you a replying to the original poster so you can answer his questions without major modification.

MemberJanuary 13, 2013 at 3:36 pm in reply to: Drying racks for digital printed media ?Ink is another factor, mimaki original ink is fairly quick drying and if you got heaters 40deg + then you will reduce your drying time.
When you unwind your print, you hear sticky noises or print on the back of the backing sheet… your in trouble.
Another factor is how much ink is not touch dry when it reaches the roller, you know from experience that if you can mark it, your not curing right.
Air flow is important, acceleration does help for rush jobs and 70% of our work is within a few days so curing is vital.
The 3rd party inks we was on did a good job as the original, but solid print is now something that even the original Latex printer struggles with, finding the right temp balance for curing.
That lamination failure does sound like rain and wet ink. If I was working in the production and noticed the ink was not touch-cure then it would have to wait. Maybe freezing conditions and water didn’t help either?! list goes on but as u said one side is the main clue if they are all parked in same depot.
Not all jobs need to be treated this way, we rushed and only had one lamination failure over 10years with jv3
-
u did tell me over FB last night but need a list/detail dude.
-
David Rowland
MemberJanuary 10, 2013 at 10:44 pm in reply to: Drying racks for digital printed media ?we done it with the jv3 warren… not many problems… only issue i have is dust and wet ink.
However heat settings were reasonable. As always, jobs were left to last minute and laminating happened twenty-sixty minutes after printing… never really got any issues with it.
However Latex is what we have now, only issue with it is balancing the heat settings, can be too wet if heat is too low

The answer is yes and no!

yeah this is awkward… we are so careful with so many companies not honoring their payments. yes 16 years I agree you should be on first name terms by now and be treated well enough.
We also question an account company if they haven’t traded for 3 years and close their account. We decided that as companies do change e.g. ownership etc.
We will not take any chances now… too many taken us for a ride.

PRS stuff happening here too (AGAIN) and we just moved.
In my old unit (on my own 80% of the time) with just a reasonably noisy printer, i did turn on the vac table and running a radio was more or less impossible. I used wireless headphones but not all the time. I missed out a lot on radio, no idea what some of the hits are so my pub quiz knowledge suffered.

MemberDecember 19, 2012 at 9:38 pm in reply to: HP L2550 printer advice needed please?.Jason has both printers and can comment but the durability on banner is something to be closely monitored.
I dont use it for banner only vinyl and that is fine both unlaminated and laminated.
The curing time is right but we just laminate straight away… basically the printer ‘cures’ the ink at high temp.
We just moved our printer from a cold environment to a hot environment, makes a lot of difference to curing especially solid black colours…
The machine is amazing.

Time – well it takes minutes to get stuck into communities and come up with something that might be affordable. But when you get it you got to find the time to build it and get it working and hope it is what u want.
Reliable – Big industrial machines fail! i should know so.
Last – Generally if the machine is "solid" then you will have a longer lasting machine.
this is a whole topic… Phill has built something for small jobs, but for large scale stuff it will not cope.
