Corel 9 is a bit concerning for importing PDF’s or I cant remember.
    Corel 10 does it
Corel 11 Is okay and has about 70% success factor
Corel 12 will open the Acrobat 6 format and the newer Illustrator native (PDF format)

Adobe Acrobat Professional comes in handy converting to PDF>EPS and that can make it much easy to transfer to Corel (Postscript Import filter)

it could be your cache, clear the junk out in Tools / Temporary Internet Files / Delete File inc Offline content. Make sure you are on Internet Explorer 6 etc. (if not visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and fine Explorer update)

I get it on other pages but it can be between the time allowed to download items to cache troubles.

Yeah, I know they are copies. I have training CD’s ripped off other peoples CD’s. Shame really but there is nothing wrong with an individual selling their CD… umm. or should I say re-selling their license to own that CD (hot)

my biggest gripe with the vehicle cds on ebay is which ones are which! I guess there are a few CDs made by people in the UK but you cant really tell what ur bidding on.

May 2, 2005 at 7:57 pm in reply to: how do i export a corel Draw 11 / clipart file?

    hi, i am corel person

from what I am reading, you are hoping to “plot” a clipart image and it looks great in wireframe but when you view it in “enhanced” it looks different to your wireframe edit.

1: Yes it will, that is the normal behavour, but I suspect it will plot okay if the nodes are correctly sorted (you are controlling a knife path at the end of the day)

2: experience and how well u made it.

To edit correctly, wireframe only shows the detail without any colours applied (outlines and fills), so you really could do with learning more on how to control :-

    Colour, Fills & Outlines
Size thickness of Outlines (outlines are not very useful to some cutter programs, it needs a line to follow)
Combining a Shape to a Shape (Combine command in the menus)
Master “Shaping tools”, particulary Weld (allows you to quickly join shape to a shape.

If you done no corel work in the past then I suggest you spend several hours going over the tools and understand vector based designs and get the basics. Each line (wireframe) is a bit of information that the plotter will follow, all the other features like transparency, outlines and anything else is purly for design and you must focus on creating cutter paths while you design to make it simple for you to output.

damn, i like Metas digital print range as it is stunning to print. We use spandex / Avery ranges as practically trouble free for over 10 years and great colours.

April 27, 2005 at 10:45 pm in reply to: Banner Pricing

things to watch out for is cheap vinyl on banners and the machines that use cheap ink (unless it is 3rd party ink on a solvent machine), banners can deteriate quickly unless you really want temporary banners.

We are banner printers, but typical banner prices are in the £120-200 region, certainly not cheap but costed to reflect the cost of machine, preping, printing, cutting, stitching & eyelettings.

Biggest problem is when it fails to print for some reason, you can make big losses when the roll runs out suddenly!

i think a judge would decide that you have taken best effort to protect you and your business. I do wonder if the majority of plates are names like “Ford”, “Capri” or a registration of some description like P1SSD etc., I would then argue that is a sign and not a reigstration plate.

We get enquiries, we simply turn them away.

unplug the sky box for 1 min and re-connect, this will allow it to re-download any settings and a fresh EPG. Might cure it

    We are using Edge 1
We just had the same problem, ended up replacing lots of capacitors/things on the board by paying an expert.

Power supply boards apparenty was redesigned many years back and so forth and exchange boards are a bit costly. Seek engineer help that’s if you haven’t already.

    According to CoCut’s website, http://www.cocut.com/index.dml

it is listed for CoCut 11/12 and CoSign

It’s not bad software CoCut, cuts quite well out of Corel.

The colour problems can be the result of EPS and colour profiles within corel, your better off using PDF and then previewing the results in the RIP and Adobe Acrobat (reader) and then making your decision to print or not.

Scaling files within Corel is not reconmended, there are things like outline thicknesses that can scale wrong if set incorrectly, there is also exporting problems like the max 10000 pixel limit on certain EPS/TIFF/JPEG options, PDF publishing is the only way to use Corel correctly and print suppliers/printers sucessfully as PDF is a variation of EPS/Postscript standard. If however you have an EPS “Placed” in Corel, sometimes the Publish to PDF option fails and transparencys/shadows can play havoc with some designs but to use Corel with RIPS then use the Publish to PDF for time after time quick printing/quality results.

Glad you made progress, its late.. good night.

Forget EPS, it is just crazy. I am a Corel user since version 3 and lay your job up on a page size that suits your 4000 x 700mm image, then select it and “Publish to PDF”, make sure your using PDF/X1, ZIP compression, covert all text to outlines and use Native colour.

The PDF will be smaller and handle better in the RIP software, it will RIP fairly easy and we get minimal problems this way, nothing reaches 1.2GB these days.

i think 1.5mtr is Brushwood Design’s screen limit in North Devon or it becomes just very difficult. They are street-banner printers.

    FileBack PC by Maximum

    http://www.maxoutput.com/FileBack/

We put some drives in the spare user pcs and get the server to copy the data when it’s not too busy. Cheap backup and very comprehensive but we do have tonnes of data.
