  • uksignboards.com will Close Down

No no don’t be daft… just for a couple of hours… maybe! :lol1:

I wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that over the next two weeks uksignboards.com will occasionally experience slow page changes, slight downtime as well as some functionality issues. This is because UKSB will completely change as we know it just now.

I would rather not go into it in depth, just that its happening very soon.

This has been on going for several months now. we actually where about to go live a month ago but a small glitch although "significant to my needs" made me decide to scrap the whole thing and move to a plan B. it is plan B that now looks to be set as the new uksignboards.com as we know it. 😀

This new UKSB will also mean that an Android version of Signapp will be launched soon after also.

    any questions feel free…

So, just as Obama secures 4 more years in office, Rob decides to close down the circle of love website for a couple of days…

Am I the only one joining the dots here? 😮

Everyone look out for the vertically challenged people holding bacardi Breezers hanging around the grassy knoll. It’s going to be their fault… Not the poor patsy in the book Depositary.

must be subtle changes – stuff in the background you sort of dont notice but makes it work better?

changes ARE being made at the moment in the background, :lol1:
however, the only noticable things i have seen myself is slow page changes and the odd page crash. so all good there…
once the changes are made public you will definitely notice a difference. whether its everyones cuppa tea or not that is the question! :lol1:
we have made some severe changes to the site in the past 11 years, always for the better, so i hope this is too. i know some will prefer old but i feel the change is due and must be applied if the site is to move on. 😀

    wanted to add…

Not sure if anyone else is, but I "personally" am experiencing very slow UKSB page changes and so on…
I do apologise for this but as i have said, allot of work going on in the background.

Further more, "i think" a migration of UKSB to a totally new upgraded dedicated server may be the real cause of the slow site at the moment, but can’t confirm.
all i can say is "sit tight it looks to be a bumpy ride!" 😕 :lol1:

no slowdown here…. dedi’s not really needed for phpbb, its very lightweight in todays hardware 😀

Dave, i get where your coming from mate but theres so many variables from one site running the same system to the next, i cant even start on the "list"
    :lol1:

The bottom line, would i be spending on yet another dedicated server if i did’nt think it was needed?

sharing web server space with a multitude of other websites is not what i consider a professional business option. all it takes is heavy traffic or labouring activity on the server from one of the other sites sharing web sapce and it effects the traffic on yours!

anyway, uksb has been on its own dedicated servers now for about 8 years and the newest server switch sees us quadrupling our power on UKSB alone.
isigntube.com also has its very own dedicated server.

the test runs and changes are ongoing though and i wont make the new site live till its 100%, so please bear with me on this… im already a week over due. 🙄 :lol1:

    well i thought i better add….

Not that I expect it to be noticeable just yet, but UKSB is now on a brand new dedicated server.

The new server is as said a "Dedicated Server" and runs at 4 times the power & performance of the original.
Once the NEW format & layout of uksignboards.com website kicks in I am sure we will see the additional benefits.

Please keep in mind that the New server now also serves Signapp, our mobile phone application. again, this will allow mobile devices to experiences a much better response time. [your phones connection permitting]

We are expecting migration work to be completed by Wednesday 12th December. once done, we should see the new look uksignboards.com emerge soon after.

We do apologise for any inconveniece caused by this.
