The school make no profit from the printing of the uniform as far as I am aware, its simply a case of nepotism as one of the teachers is related to the printer.

Im not looking to get into competing with him at all, but my little girl needed a coat and he was messing around.

Im sure I remember a while ago a company in the NE called Caslaws had the sole rights to produce schoolwear and it was challenged due to some parents not being able to afford their over inflated prices. Im 99% sure that was when the rules changed up here anyway.

I’ve asked this question many times over the years & I’ve never been told NO, it may however not be appreciated by the school as they’ll more than likely be getting a cut from their current supplier/embroiderer. Why don’t you approach the school to see if you can get the contract?, just tell em you’ll offer a much superior service 😀

Alot of the garments they get are embroidered and im not really looking to branch out that way at the moment. The coats are just printed.

Xpres paper is the best ive found and if I was posting it via Royal Mail I would charge atleast £4 p&p. Xpres use couriers and insured delivery costs more.

Consider buying 200 sheets, if your enjoying doing it then 200 sheets will last no time at all anyway and it doesnt go out of date or spoil aslong as its kept in dry conditions.

And I get 3 cups per sheet John, you Geordies need to learn to be more frugal.

I never tell them the cost price, and my price to sell off the roll varies depending on my stock levels. I have charged £20 a meter quite easily for Oracal 651 in the past (old stuff I dont use anymore) but if its in relation to a job I tell them that its almost impossible to give a price per meter as every job is bespoke and my suppliers price according to the size of my order.

Its a load of cobblers but they seem to love it when you call their job Bespoke! lol

Emma you can make number plates with names on like Elvis as long as it is not a registration number for example ELV 1S. Just use a different font.
But check all combinations and if it could be a registration number then tell the customer it can’t be made.

    Martin,

We discussed this with the DVLA directly and they told us that things such as ELV 1S (ELVIS), P4 ULH (PAUL H) etc couldnt be made up either as they are or can in the future be used as Vehicle Registration Numbers that could be on the road.

If you wanted ELVIS or PAUL H or CAPRI, ESCORT etc then you could because these were not VRNs. There are rumours of new tamperproof plates being introduced to new cars very soon too and only dealers will be able to fit them.

We have also found that there is no money in Numberplates, we are DVLA registered and the hassle just isnt worth it.

We did something similar to slip over bollards outside a computer shop. The guy didnt want to pay alot because he knew he would be told to take them down everytime he put them out.

He has had them 8 months now and they have been on and off more than a hookers knickers but they still look ok. Some of the colouring on the green is starting to fade but they are still rigid and holding up well.

Ive never seen a template but I did my own ages ago. Its not that hard and if I can do one then anyone can. I found the old Mini to be harder than the new one but still was just a case of measuring a set that were on a friends car and away I went.

I used 10mm clear on my first one standing off a 5mm white oversized backing panel. Looked great and got me alot more work.

These look like Koolart images and we pay over £300 a year in licensing fees to be allowed to use them. Id be surprised if anyone gives you them free, and im sure Robert from Koolart would be furious.

    Try http://www.koolart.co.uk
