Impact is the best of the bunch, I would still run a tape measure over the vehicle as a double check for sizing though.

I take it that Impact are more accurate than others? I bought (many moons ago) a set of discs from Ingram and they really aren’t that good. I also got a disc from spandex which are better but not perfect. Some of the outlines can be upto 500mm out.

I had a set from Ingram and they were so bad I sent them back. Impact significantly better although not necessarily perfect.

Drawings out by half a metre Karl? I wouldn’t want to doubt your word, but that sounds a lot. Sure you’ve not got an extra zero on that? Surely the drawing wouldn’t even look right?

Impact are good, and a lot of our work involves doing drawings, cutting the vinyl, and sending it out for others to fit. It is normal for us never to even see the van, either before the job starts, or the finished article.

Sure, you need to watch what you are doing, I don’t expect a panel shape to be absolutely spot on, and wouldn’t send out a shaped graphic to fit without checking it first, but dimensionally they are close enough.

At the end of the day, outlines are just like any other tool. In the right hands the results are excellent but, if misused, you can sometimes end up with a mess.

as has been said, we also could not operate without the Impact vehicle outline/library software.

i know they are not 100% accurate, but in all honesty the only time i ever check live vehicle sizes is if we are doing fleet work or vehicle wraps.

from any similar software i know available, Impacts is the most accurate of them all.

I got the graphic disc when I renewed Impact, its worth the extra couple of quid I suppose.

Hope you used your UKSG buying power to get the discount! And yes, I use Impact all the time, MR Clipart outlines was just soooo awkward to find the correct vehicle and use.

John, there was no extra zero mate. I did a transit for my brother a few years back and it was way out. Went by there sizes and it was just so inaccurate I didn’t use it again.

Sure you didn’t use a SWB instead of LWB outline, or whatever Karl? That is an easy mistake to make, (I know, I’ve done it!) as the outlines aren’t identified in any way.
