MemberJuly 23, 2015 at 8:41 pm in reply to: Image size to create wallpaper – what’s a good size? Help?Hi, We usually procure our large format images from shutterstock, a subscription is around £30 and gets you 5 credits I think. Their library is tremendous! 1 credit is enough to download one of their super large image files which are usually always big enough for wallpapers. Then we design and build at 750dpi at 10% (which is 75dpi fuill size as mentioned earlier)
Hope that helps

It had a top coat/layer that quite easily peeled off, also the Latex ink came away too easily once wet. We will try the Neschen thanks

MemberFebruary 10, 2015 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Wrapping My Boat, any advice or tips welcome?Matt Lam, also hides the stripes that were and are on there………
So finally finished the beast, will never do this in January again. The boat had to come out for servicing so I hoped for a relatively warm spell. Well it was freezing most days! Best we had was 6 -7 degrees. As the hull of the boat is quite thick it held the cold in and the vinyl didn’t want to adhere properly, lots of heat from our guns required. All in all it wasnt that much of a pain, some clear edge sealing tape here and there…..lets hope it stays on!!

MemberJanuary 19, 2015 at 9:44 am in reply to: Wrapping My Boat, any advice or tips welcome?Sure, I am going to print it full length as it will be 1300 max (i guesstimate). I will wrap to the front edge, then the other side will wrap over the front edge so the overlap is correct. Also edge seal everywhere that is possible.

Im printing 10% black to 80% and Im getting a pink tinge too. The 10% black is literally just that too on the CMYK scale…puzzling and fustrating. I am working on this and will let you know my outcome….you too if you sort it thanks!

We use an acrylic 2 part resin, around £7-00 a tube and it takes a hammer to break apart….very strong stuff. Try Innova Solutions.

MemberJanuary 31, 2012 at 5:42 pm in reply to: Can contravision be applied internally to a window? You can print reverse onto clear, back with white, then back with black, then cut out small horizontal strips around 3mm leaving 5mm print (have to test the gap ratio) and apply to the inside. That should work fine

Hi Ian. for some reason i cant IM. Re the Mutoh I am looking at about £4300 as it is still like brand new. 07879 454 457 if you need to call.
Thanks

My sentiments too. The rubber strip is a flexible joint for either panel to move slightly. So in 0 degress when the vinyl freezes the body of the van will move and the vinyl will crack. I always cut carefully and remove.

Have you looked on Avery’s site….might have it in their technical or downloads??

As Im doing a Range Rover the bonnet is about 2mtrs wide and the depth (windsreen to front edge) is around 1450mm…..so I need a WIDE roll. The Hexpress is 1370mm so I may get that and stretch it. I cant find any thats 1500mm wide…anyone?????
-
That’s the thing, i’ve seen one on eBay, don’t know whether to purchase a second hand one, he says its mint condition, about 8 hundred? What do you think?
-
I have had one of the Cherwell ones for around 3-4 years and its still perfect. Well worth the hundred odd quid. Might try the upside down Lino tho on another bench,….cheers Ian!! 😀
-
interesting guys, yes Pete, as I know Wasatch it would be silly to ditch it, and I am sure the extra dongle on Signlab 8 would be expensive. Food for thought…
-
Just went on to their website, tried to ring them but number doesnt exist???? Looks like a good product too. Have they gone under and started up again under a new name?
-
Yes Hexis do their Hexpress at 1370 wide, and have 2 pinks. Swatch ordered. What is the Hexpress like,??
-
Cheers Martin, I will look.

Cheers guys, when I have a spare couple hours / half day I will have a play…..don’t know when that will be though!

Yes I think I’ll try and put down less ink to start with and see what happens.
So I’ll start a new thread and see how to do that!
Cheers
-
Ok, I think I will try the MD5 and see what, if there are any, differences. And the curl/edge lift seems to happen anywhere on the graphic. My thoughts are the ink is affecting the adhesive.
How can I tell if my Grenadier is putting down too much ink??? It was a B&P supplied printer, bought 5 years ago.
-
Yes I think with a white border you eliminate the problem but not all backgrounds are white. It has been happening on laminated and non laminated prints on signs and vehicles. Metamark said to leave to gas but I do, and more than 48hrs.
-
My Grenadier used to do it when I topped up the refillable cartridges near or over the max line. There was simply too much ink in it!

MemberDecember 20, 2010 at 9:11 am in reply to: Removal of reflective vinyl – help needed!Hi,
We have had to remove lots of reflective for a decommisioning job a while back and by far the easiest way to remove is with a steam wallpaper stripper, simply hold the end to the vinyl for say 15-20 seconds then pull the vinyl off at an acute angle, this usually removes all the glue too.
