We have not long ago installed some built-ups aluminium letters, they have 19mm back trays, and they were fixed with long tech screws through the face of the foamex to cladding, then the letters were fixed through the returns with small screws into the 19mm, worked well.

quote Alex Crosbie:I run mine day in day out at 800mm/s on a mix of Oracal 751 and oracal 3651 with laminate.
The printed media I tend to try and avoid going over 3m in length, it maintains excellent accuracy.
It never skips a beat and never slips. (Probably cursed it now!)
Alex I’m going to speed mine up tomorrow and try it, I never speed it up, I slow it down on small letters 12mm high stuff.
do you use the media flanges ?
-
quote Luke Culpin:I’ve actually been having a nightmare with mine as of late. When cutting vinyl lettering, we have a repeat job of logos in sheet sizes of around 1800mm. It’s gradually got worse and worse at not closing off the letters correctly and can sometimes be around 7mm out of place. We’ve found out today that by manually pre winding enough material through for the job gets rid of the issue, but don’t feel I should need to do this! Back onto engineers tomorrow I think!
Luke that could be either rollers are slipping, try cleaning them, there is also a length calibration you can do, do you use media flanges, I find them good on long runs, I also turn off panelling on cut vinyls unless its like 4 or 5 mtrs long.
-
an Idea just turn up the speed? mine runs at VELOCITY: 200 mm/s on laminated print and cut jobs

Hi Andrew fingers crossed they can fix my problems.
It would still be a good idea to do the blue test, so they know they don’t have the same problems, as you are The HP importer I think you are biased towards HP more than me 🙂

-
Hi all, I’ve been told the by the UK importer of HP Latex printers, there are only a few cases in the UK with this problem.
I’ve spoken to other sign companies & printer reps, and there are more than a few cases.
The easy way to find out if you have a problem, Print a dark blue sample, the one we used is C100, M90, Y36, K36 its just a dark blue colour.
Laminate it and try the pull test, after leaving it laminated for the correct length of time, lift the graphic from one edge and see if you can pull the laminate off, I cant go into much detail yet as I have HP on-site at the beginning of July, good luck.

Ive emailed you Iain.
-
they are changing all their paperwork, the new Gen 3 inks are causing problems, you won’t see paperwork now that says laminate straight away, and profiles are getting removed (certified HP ones)
-
Ive been told by HP, that all jobs now need to be outgased for 48hrs and laminated 48hrs before use, but this is still ongoing.
-
Be careful when purchasing latex printers, we have some issues with delamination when using latex Gen 3 Inks.

MemberMarch 19, 2018 at 10:13 pm in reply to: 3M Scotchcal 780mc Reflective – had loading issues on latex or otherwise ?quote Hugh Potter:HI All,
got 5m of the new and very expensive 3m reflective wrap film and lam here, bought 6 weeks ago and was opened to be checked only, then kept in it’s box until 7-10 days ago when it was decanted onto the vinyl stand in protective polythene sleeve and in a warm environment,Just gone to use it for a paying job and when loading it into the latex printer it immediately cockled up as it fed through.. I took the roll off and then put it through the laminator (about 900mm of it) to lay it back down cleanly on the backing – as I’ve done with chrome etc in the past, in hindsight not the best idea as being such a soft film it’s quite hard to remove the liner without kinking the film.. after numerous attempts it was obvious that it wasn’t going to stay properly on the liner to be fed through.. with a heavy heart I cut off 500mm (over £20 scrap!) to start again…
.. Fed it through the printer (room temp) and it did it again, rolled the film the other way onto a spare core and tried again – same thing.. At around £45 p/m (excluding lam) this is obviously a very big problem to have.. any bright ideas on how to deal with this?
I’ll talk to william Smiths who I bought it from but want to get some feedback first, this could turn into a near £300 loss if I’m unable to use it..
Hi Hugh, a quick question, do you ever get your latex prints de laminating, we also use orafol reflective, that where we first noticed it, we now see on other materials to.

Yes i think loading could also be part of it. Feeding the vinyl in straight, im guessing if its slightly out it will pull the lam to one side?.
are you loading the laminate with a foamex board?
-
One thing i did noticle is when the rollers are raised slightly there is 0.5mm-1mm light gap on either end 200mm into the roll but not in the middle. Is this normal/acceptable or could this be the problem?
This is correct

Hi all it is a scam, I know because its just happened to us 🙁
ok the scam is they pay you direct in to your account, they then tell you they have over paid so they want some of the money back, they then get the first money taken back from your account. how. well, first payment is by a cheque but they pay it direct in to your account from there nearest bank, so it shows up on the statement as a payment, they then give you a different bank account number to pay the other payment back to them, they then bounce the first cheque. BOOOM your scammed,I rang my bank at first to find out if it was a scam before I paid them back, they said no all looks good, so I paid them back, the following day I got a letter from the bank there cheque had bounced, so after a few heated phone calls with my bank, they have returned my money :smiles: and asked me to tell as many people as possible to stop them doing it.
Barclays Bank are the best 🙂

We bag everything in large industrial bin bags (vinyl, backing sheet), we have a waste transfer licence (FOC if its your own waste) we then take it to a local skip / waste site (not land fill) they weigh us and charge accordingly, we usually do 2 runs, LW Crafter van full to the brim costs us about £70.00 a time thats usually 1/2 tonne per run as it goes off weight, as we know there is not alot of weight its just bulky, to do 2 van loads usually is equal to 4 skips at £140 per skip.

quote Steff Davison:I would talk to the people you purchased the machine from, I’m sure they would want to help.
I had a problem with the software overriding my machine’s settings and the menu command to turn off this override wasnt as intuitive as it should be within Summa Cutter controls.
Thats the only trouble when your machine turns up in a box with a cd and some allen keys, you cant troubleshoot problems with an engineer etc.
thanks Steff, we have had 3 Engineers out, there all not sure if it can be stopped, thats why I was asking if its on all summa or just mine.

Hi Rob, yes its fine when we turn it off, but we bought the machine because of some of the long jobs we run, 6, 8 and 10m long, we were told that the machine is perfect for that, and yes we do have the auto take up, but it needs to have the paneling on for that to work correctly.
