  • Help Sourcing trade suppliers of a Flatbed Laminator?

Can anyone point me in the direction to acquire a decent Bench Mounted Roller similar to RollsRoller or Mounters Mate? Ideally good quality and able to take 8×4 sheets of ACM/Foamex.

I’m just starting out and have a tight budget but want to avoid cheap and cheerful items that might be knocking about.
Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you all, Paul

I think the chances of find a second hand one of these is pretty slim, people just don’t get rid of them! Price wise for new, mounters mate will be your best bet!

Paul, have you looked at the smart station from Mounters mate? There’s quite a price difference between that and the workstation

if you just want to mount prints on to boards you can do this on a standard laminator, I did it for years before I bought a bubble free machine, you just need a table to catch the boards as they come out.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I already have a KALA Atlantic 1600 Hot laminator but the Flatbed laminator/roller gives me so many more options. I can’t quite figure out what the Chinese model is. I am giving the Mounters Mate serious consideration, but just checking to see what might be out there first. Keep the comments coming, thanks

The Chinese one looks a lot like one that CSL are (or were) selling branded as Duramount. I was tempted by the price but opted for a CWT. One of the things that put me off the CSL one was that the lighting was really poor, but as it turns out we rarely use the lights on the CWT anyway.

Mounters Mate smart station is manufactured by Fayon.
I imported one from China earlier this year.

    Hi guys,

First of all thank you for the kind words and the recommendations above and left in various threads, it really is very much appreciated :praiseyou:

A few points on this thread have been brought to my attention that I would like to clarify.
My team and I take huge pride in providing extremely high quality print finishing equipment for sign makers, installing equipment across the UK and Europe. I personally have spent many years working hands on in the graphics industry before Mounter’s Mate was founded.

Our main company USP is a customer education, technical support and back up. We have been very lucky to supply a lot of members of these boards with our equipment including the forum admin. We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback words and support we have received in testimonials and reviews on these boards alone.

I co-designed the Smartstation range back in 2017 with our partner company in China, as you can imagine designing and building a machine from scratch comes with huge research, tooling and EC certification costs during the initial period but since the launch in early 2018, our Smartstation range has been a real success and quickly became one of our best selling machines.

Fayon is a company Mounter’s Mate have an agreement with that allows them to sell our machine domestically in China and into South America.

John – if you have managed to import one of our machines into the UK from China you may have found a loophole in our supply chain. Thanks for making me aware of this so I can investigate internally.

Fayon or any other Chinese companies are often agents, they cannot and likely will not provide any sort of warranty or service after the initial sale, no option for engineer installation is given, parts and repairs are often not available or if they are available they are very slow to react.

As a sign maker myself I would ask why I am buying a new finishing machine… to make graphics more efficiently and to a high quality, in a manor my customers expect.

If anyone is considering purchasing a Mounters Mate please search my name or Mounters Mate on UKsignboards or on Google. We are proud to serve the graphics industry and supply some of the most competitively priced machines on the market stocked in the UK for fast dispatch and with up to 5 years warranty. we also hold stock of all parts and components here in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi,

" a loophole in our supply chain"? Are you suggesting I have done something underhand buying this machine?

Fayon and Feiyang are brand names used by the manufacturer, Henan Yingkai Technology Development Co.Ltd.
This company has been trading since 2003 manufacturing lamination equipment.

They and their local distributors advertise on The Far East’s largest trade website…..simply a case of hitting the buy button.
As nothing has gone wrong I cannot comment on the support offered.

You are listed on their website as a distributor of their products in the UK.

I have seen the roll to roll machine that you supplied to my friend Robert………this looks very like a clone/copy of the Audley ADL machine I imported 5 years ago, same machine that Grafityp supply.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I’ve finally figured out the way forward and have commited to purchasing the Mounters Mate Smart Station. This bit of kit seems to do all I need to do at this early stage of my new enterprise and await delivery in mid December. Thanks to Omar and all at Mounters Mate and the forum for your pointers.

    Hi John.

This site you used. Is it the one named after the fella with 40 robbers for friends??

Have been considering buying a unit from them recently but been a bit wary?

I don’t think Omar is suggesting you have done anything underhand, but perhaps that your supplier has gone against an agreement that Mounters Mate has with them regarding marketing territory.
