  • Is this possible to wrap this vehicle part?

Hi All do you think its possible to wrap the corner of this van, (Renault Traffic) in one peice, so it covers the outside and the inside to the fine line tape, and if so where would you start it, its printed wrap film.

    Thanks Gary

I would say yes it’s possible in one piece.

But would I do it? Probably not, I’d much rather have a neatly cut join with two pieces of material that aren’t under any stress than no join but with a potential for failure.

It’s in an area that’s not very noticeable so I wouldn’t worry too much!

Hate all these body coloured plastics, would have been much easier if it wasn’t painted 😉

It greatly depends on what you are wrapping it with!

If you are using a printed wrapping film i would say no!
Not because the media wont do it, but because the print will colour shift like hell and any graphics will distort very badly.

The same will apply with something like carbon or other 3D textured wrapping films.

I have tried that exact corner which is on the Vauxhall Vivaro and attempted to wrap it in one piece using Avery Supreme Red Chrome wrap. The problem here was similar to a printed wrap. "colour shift" but more to do with how temperamental a chrome wrap is, because it whitens or goes dull under very little stretch and stands out a mile as it is supposed to be mirror like chrome.

anyway, a join just inside the knuckle of the shape turning in-towards the back of the van is best.
Doing it neater would be to piece a section in there first, then your wrap coming in to overlap that bit meaning the join flap is facing the rear door making it less obvious.

if you pop off those black plastic circles you will find hex head nuts that can easy be removed and the whole corner will come off. Trouble there is it is actually more manageable in place, but restricted in other ways.

hope this made sense, it does in my head anyway… 😆

Yes it is possible, but is it viable?
3M 1080j and it would be ok as it wouldnt lose its colour.

Personally id wrap the inside first then the outside to overlap .

Some less than others, but regardless of wrap media type or brand, you will experience colour shift, or gloss/matt shift dependent on how it has been stretched or what it has been stretched into/over. This is also dependent on the person ability to do the job.
