Martin there is Translucent black your correct, I have never actually noticed it let any light through.

It does go down better on acrylic I feel when covering a large area and ties in
with the more satin type finish translucents have.

Behind the pinch rollers you have small blocks sat in a recess.
Not sure what they are possibly magnets.

On a 3 roller machine only the outside ones have these.
Are they all there or maybe been knocked out?

or possible damage to the pinch roller sense board on the cutting head or any wires disconnected from the cutting head.

Just another thought, have the modules failed or caused a higher load on the cables generating the excess heat.

This increased heat has caused the foam burn.

I don’t do led’s but are fuses fitted the 12v side as a safety measure?
Looks a great potential fire risk if there was more plastic.

I can’t see the acp causing any issue.

Just throwing some things in the pot:

Is the insulation reacting somehow with the foam, has the insulation actually gone to the extent of the 2 wires shorting?

50 modules, is the power supply up to supply enough wattage for all of them?

I think the foam is the issue not the acp, I think there needs to be more breathing space if you must use it where the cable passes through.

    Cheryl

Color Bridge has Solid Pantone colour with the CMYK Process colour shown next to it with cmyk values, also RGB values and HTML value.

It will give you a better understanding of colours that are difficult to match from
solid Pantone colours to cmyk as cmyk has a smaller colour gamut.

Yes have some form of digital machine for very small runs and a guillotine.

The rest farm out, good margins to be had if you put the right jobs with the right printers.

Small scale litho is dead, unless you concentrate on a specific bespoke line.

    Manual states RS232c.
Null modem cables have pins 2 / 3 crossed over, so 2 goes to 3 / 3 goes to 2. The rest are straight through.

    Serial
    ON / OFF
    SW-1 Baud rate 9600 / 4800
SW-2 Parity check Disable / Enable
SW-3 Parity check ODD / EVEN
    SW-4 Data bits 8-bit / 7-bit
    SW-5 Stop bits 1-bit / 2-bit
    SW-6 Handshake Hardwire XON/XOFF
    SW-7 Blade offset 0.25 / 0.5*
SW-8 Sheet weight Light / Heavy
SW-9 Sheet size Roll / Piece
    SW-10 Smoothing ON / OFF

Off is towards the numbers on the DIP switch.

    Hi Tony

There was another thread on here where someone had a similar issue, they changed the tape to a thinner tape (thickness not width) and the problem was resolved.

When the letter were getting warm the shear forces were causing the centre cention of the tape to stretch I believe.

Hope this is of some help.

As I started this thread I feel it only fair to Blackburn Metals that I update their company responce to me, as I have never had any issues with them and can’t fault the service I have been given to date.

My local rep has fed back to me responses from The National Sales Manager for Sign Products and The Managing Director.

Apparently it is not an issue that has been raised elsewhere, but my points have been taken on board and at the next board meeting this will be brought up and see what can get put in place and how quickly it can be implemented.

Once they have decided what the way forward is I will be informed.

I will post any updates as and when I hear anything.

They do have the link to this thread, so any constructive criticism I’m sure would be welcome.

Same as the Gerber as you will know Chris.

I’ve never found anything other than an OP manual either.

Could possibly be the bearings that carry it on the rail, a wipe and silicon spray on the rail is sometimes best, too much of any thicker kind of lube I feel can cause more problems attracting grime etc.

  • Tim Painter

    Member
July 24, 2012 at 10:49 am in reply to: Mutoh SC650 maintenance advise

Only tip I can offer is if you take any covers off keep it connected to the mains (not on) so it is earthed. They have EEPROMS which can be temprimental from any static shocks, also run it from an anti surge if you don’t already.

I would give it a good blow out with canned air and use a light sewing machine oil or such on any phosphur bronze bearings and maybe some vaseline on any gears. Cleaning off any crap first.
Any roller bearing I would remove and put some WD40 on wiping of the excess after.

Sorry I can’t be more help than that.

It’s a bit like a lathe to rotate the core and it looks like the one in Robs link has the cutter driven also I presume to stop it skidding.

The same sort of set up is used to cut rolls of foil for foil blocking / hot foiling. Although the cutter usually isn’t driven.

I think it could be a combination of factors, if the acrylic has expanded since fitting then it would be the same as Phils drawing with the locators being pushed out. Contributing to the failing bond to the composite.

    Hi Craig

I still think the Monkey head needs to be with the text on he windows.

Change ‘and’ to ‘&’ allowing you to increase the text size.
Also keeps it consistent with the bullet ‘&’.

Size the bullets so they align nicely with each end of the monkeycustard.

I think all the bullets should be centered.

Reduce the monkeycustard on the back so it doesn’t look squashed in to the window size.

    Just my 2p’s worth.

    Hi Craig

I think the Monkey image needs to layout wise tie in with the name better.

I would do the bullets over 2 lines – with each bullet as a single line of text not over 2 lines as you have it.

I think I would probably keep everything parallel to the sill, but maybe run the side bullets at an angle.

As has been said poor quality paint job.

Removed some graphics from a clients car the other week and paint came off in one area.

At the right angle you could see it had a poor repair in that section.
With the fine scratches from being rubbed down visible.

Also make sure the end of the trays does not coincide with the end of a run of angle.

Can’t think of anything off the shelf.

Why not modify a snap frame, mount it onto ACM or such with a stake.

Hugh holes probably drilled by the powder coaters and not Ashby, although Ashby should specify or drill themselves if it’s critical.

Panels etc are hung off the production line as they go through the powder spray booth and then the oven.

I assume in the Hybrid drives the SSD part acts as a speedy buffer dave?

I think Raid 5 would be your best bet Warren which the system you quoted can do.

    RAID 5

    Advantages

Read data transactions are very fast while write data transaction are somewhat slower (due to the parity that has to be calculated).
    Disadvantages
Disk failures have an effect on throughput, although this is still acceptable.
Like RAID 3, this is complex technology.

    Ideal use

RAID 5 is a good all-round system that combines efficient storage with excellent security and decent performance. It is ideal for file and application servers

Depends on how the Array is configured warren.
For speed, mirroring (encase of disc failure).

What programs do you run and what are you trying to achieve?

I don’t understand why you would want to us an SSD for backup simon.

Use the SSD as scratch / temp drive.

Although i assume (Not 100% sure) at some point the system will only be as quick as it’s slowest bottleneck in the processing process.

I think some of mine from Leo were lousy Derek – caps were fine just some of the screw seats seamed to be poor with off centre holes.

I don’t see the tie with the name and the dog.

What about a coat of arms instead, just a thought.
