The Stone Roses – Guitar wraps!
Posted by Robert Lambie on April 30, 2012 at 3:00 pmJust taken delivery of two electric guitars to wrap in vinyl for the Stone Roses comeback tour.
The wrap is based around a couple of designs done by my brother who is very good mates with Mani. Will be good to get some pictures of them on stage with them for the portfolio if nothing else. 😀one of the designs i am not keen on, but what the hell… what do i know! :lol1:

I’m jealous – what make of guitars are they? They look nice 😀

Doh! should have looked at the pictures a bit more closely (Epiphone) 😀

:lol1: yeah well glad you clocked that because i couldn’t have told you.
they brought them in last week and i was like "eh how about taking all the bits off it and giving us a bit of a chance! :lol1: so they striped them right back and drop them off today. "oh and can we pick them up tomorrow afternoon?"
chancers! 😀

Interesting job you have got there! I have got tickets to see them on June 29th at heaton park. Cost me £250 for two tickets, ridiculous price but cannot wait to see them, will look out for the guitars!

:lol1: as Harry says earlier, doing it for fools gold mate. 😉 :lol1:

Not being solid bodies I would of thought it affected the sound.

I wouldn’t know mate… I will let them worry about that one. Just as long as i get my pictures first before they twig! :lol1:
Do guitarists not often cover they instruments in stickers and stuff?
There’s also all the layers of varnish and the like on it. Not that ide know, as i know zilch on the subject, just saying… :lol1: -
:lol1: Yes David, a bit like that mate. 😀
I am guessing that’s solid as Tim mentions could be argued, but that is what I have often seen. I am just starting the first one now, so better get my backside in gear. 😉 :lol1:

Does it really matter if the vinyl alters the sound a little?? After all is that not what mixing desks are for??
-
Bear in mind these are bass guitars and are unlikely to be used accoustically so all the sound will be from the pickups.[/i]

Well Rob??? Got any photos yet?
We’re listening to the Stone Roses right now 🙂

Yep, I’ve been a big fan of Stone Roses. Great band! I’ve actually got an Epiphone WildKat that’s similar to those. Mines a sunburst instead of the yellow like in the photo. Some people talk crap about Epiphone being a Gibson knock-off (which they actually are now owned by Gibson anyway). I’ve owned Les Pauls in the past and I say the Epiphone that I have stands up to that instrument in every way even though it’s about a 1/4 of the price of a Gibson. Good question about how the wrap might change the sound though. Keep us updated. I’d love to see the finished wrap.

Thanks for the comments guys…
i have already done the wraps and returned the guitars to get the strings and all else fitted to them. Even though not my taste, I have plenty pictures of them both.
I have deliberately not posted any pictures just yet because I think it best the actual band get to see the the guitars first. 😀
I will probably post some pictures the middle of next week because i think they should maybe have them by now. not sure, but will check… 😀p.s.
although they had no strings when i got them, they sounded perfect doing the Air Guitar 😉 -
Did you say….’I love a job with no strings attached’……did ya, did ya? 😀
