I normally arrive mid afternoon on the first day and leave late on the third day.

You can do the show in a day pretty easily though. If you have a purchase in mind it does take up more time chatting to each supplier finding out this and that.

I always enjoy the show and I do believe itโ€™s beneficial for your business if you can find the time and go along. Even if you are not making a big purchase, it always gives me ideas on new products we could start selling, as well as arming myself with a list of new suppliers.
Mostly for me itโ€™s about meeting up with folk for meetings. Itโ€™s far more convenient and saves me allot of money by having everyone under one roof over the three days.
Not forgetting meeting up with people from uksignboards for drinks, dinner, nights out etc. all great fun… ๐Ÿ˜€

What I would like to know and I know fine from speaking with suppliers that they too think the same.

"What is the real foot fall over the three days at sign & digital?"

You see, we arrive at the show and our badges are electronically swiped.
We leave the halls to get lunch. When we return, we get swiped again!
Exhibitors going for a cigarette leave their stands, on returning they also get swiped.
In fact, im there three days and I bet I get swiped about 15-20 times and I donโ€™t even smoke!

Anyway, my point is, it would be interesting to find out exactly how many folk are there each day. By that I mean, remove the exhibitors from the head count and remove duplicate swipes. Give a count on how many sign makers actually attended and so onโ€ฆ
I donโ€™t think for a minute Faversham is going to lay the cards on the table like that, but I do think they should at least do it for the suppliers who are at the end of the day, their high paying customer.

    Hello Aaron

yes there will be a timetable issued, not available as yet as we are still finalizing what we are going to be doing. the sign makers work shop and the other seminars normally repeat daily during the show.

i will post up more info when i have it, look forward to seeing you there.

Changing trains is fairly common place.

I would have thought you’d have been able to get a train London-Birmingham then on from there to your hotel?

    Booked my ticket ๐Ÿ™‚

Will be interesting to see what products are out there, even old products from yesteryear that I am yet to come across. Being able to see and touch varying medias will be very useful for me. I only know about particular fixings from reading threads on here. To have my eyes opened to what is available under one roof will be inspirational.

There is a train station at the NEC. Birmingham Interntional. You may have to change a couple of times from london.

Look on http://www.nationalrail.co.uk and book your ticket from your nearest london station. Where are you staying in London?

Nothing is very direct in the UK. We also like to que, so don’t go wondering why people are loitering everywhere.

Has been many years since I have been to the NEC. Is there a bar, and what food outlets are about on site?

Well that’s us booked! We are staying at the same hotel we stayed at a couple of years ago, when we were last at the show.
Just had an email for a 2-night deal, all inclusive. The hotel is right next to the rail line, easy journey with a quick change at Birmingham New Street, then straight into the station at the NEC.

Here’s the deal, for anyone interested

    http://www.mynextbreak.com/dc0112

We found the hotel and service good, so am chuffed to get the same deal again.
No driving, so no worries about meeting the gang in the bar, lovely! :lol1:

not that many will care, but i know many folk speak to me about the footfall at the shows. when promoted we get told there are thousands attend over the three days.
but then we are all swiped each and every time we walk thru the doors. even the suppliers going to the toilet, for lunch or nipping out for a smoke. still get the tag re-wiped by the digigital device. "even though they know fine they have done the person already several times"
so why swipe the same folk multiple times over three days, why swipe staff manning the stands same?

where does the realistic head count come from, is there one?
if the head count is more accurate than i am giving credit, then perhaps the database with just about any ones details on it becomes more valuable?

anyway, this new "we have registered for you" approach is why i am bringing it up. does this get counted in some place for promotional purposes as in so many thousand registered for this years show, but actually only half turned up? ok i am being cinical, but still… suppliers wouldnt express concern for the footfall year in year out if the show was always a success? especially as floor space is being charged at a premium!

if the shows were so successful, why do we see an ever growing increase in roadshows? i was at the robert horne one only last week in manchester and that had a very good variety of suppliers at it. more intimate and approachable stands a bit like the conventry sign show was.

then next year will will see the arrival of Fespa in London, bigger show, more footfall etc etc how will this effect things?

do not get me wrong, i love signuk time, i wouldnt miss it and intend being there the three days. i am simply raising the questions as i often find myself stood discussing same at the show with the suppliers?

    or do we not care…

Kev, good to hear mate. i think Fespa will be a great show. missed attending several times now so no excuse for me next year and already looking forward to it.
I think next year at signuk will be one to watch. will fespa and the ever growing launch of mini roadshows effect our industries our annual premier show? time will tell…

Can’t make it Wednesday as I am expecting a delivery ๐Ÿ˜‰

Don’t think I’ll be going this year and also think road shows are better. It was fun and interesting the 1st year I went when I was new to the game but in the last 3 years the only interesting thing that happened to me was having a drink with the late John Childs.

Besides catching up with folks I personally lost a bit of interest in the show ๐Ÿ™
