Not worth the hassle mate.

Why not print yourself a CMYK colour sample grid with breakdowns of colour? That way you can have samples of the red you want for with different media.

I reckon it’ll be about tea time Phil 🙂

Just read this post on FB from a friend of mine in Sydney.
"A bloke I know runs a company with about 150 employees. One of them asked for three days off this week in preparation for the end of times. He needed to pray alongside his fellow worshippers for salvation. Serious. No, Really. His leave wasn’t granted even after some cajoling from the believer."
OMG!!!
Tell you what. As I’m 8 hours ahead of UK time I’ll let you know if it’s going to happen ‘cos it’s the 21st here first 😉

Nice one Phil 🙂

Everyone look out for the vertically challenged people holding bacardi Breezers hanging around the grassy knoll. It’s going to be their fault… Not the poor patsy in the book Depositary.

If it was white text with a black background you could jet a black keyline with welded black drop shadow and lay that over the white cut text. No colour variations for the white. Or weld the black and white text and over lay the white on the black so that the white is fully covered. that way there’s an even discolouration of white.
Did I make sense? Been at work having a working day with a couple of bottles of vino 😉

At least two Nespresso Ristretto espresso’s before getting out of bed. Jenny brings them to me during the week and I take her coffee on the weekends.

On the whole ripped off matter… Someone can be a tool in the trade or out of it. Karma’s a wonderful thing. Let’s face it… It was still probably cheaper than going back to your shop wasn’t it?
IMO as well the client should have been made to pay for the mind change as well… You’re not a mind reader. Are you ?

Hey have you ever exploded a rear screen? I’ve had three go on me in the years before we used to heat shrink.
Go off like a bloody bomb and are pretty spectacular.
Hard to explain to the customer though 😉

Learn to reverse weed – That’ll make life much easier for finniky stuff. Also don’t be scared to simplify someone’s graphic if it’s not going to work. You’re the expert, not the client 😉

MemberJuly 31, 2012 at 5:59 am in reply to: What’s the chances of this vinyl causing the glass to crack? Also to add to what Jason said Neil the thermal stress usually happens on really cold mornings when there is a shadow across the glass. The sunny part of the glass heats up more than the shaded part causing a differential in heat on the glass. Where that happens sometimes you can get a crack.
I wouldn’t worry a bit about this job mate.

You could do a manual blend by creating a dot effect.
There was a demo done on here years ago. Try a search for ASCII in the boards.
Was it Barnabus who did it?
-
Ok… Just checked and it does work in pounds and pence. It takes the currency from your operating system currency settings.
/Whew
-
Bugger!!! LOL I didn’t even think of that. I’m a bad Englishman 😉
I just had a look in my settings to see if I could change the currency. But couldn’t see if I could or not. Surely they’d be able to do it for you.

I’m pretty sure you can trial Estimate for 30 days at no cost. It’s now a subscription based product and costs me about $90 a month to use for two users. Bear in mind that this programme is being used every minute of every day so it’s well worth it.
It’s easy to set up and works on your own overhead. I can’t recommend it enough.
-
Estimate for the win guys.
Been using it for years and it’s never let me down. Operates across platforms as well.

That’s cool mate, I guess I did come across a bit harsh.
Get on to a wrapping course if you’re interested in learning how to do it. I just completed my 7th course in 5 years.
I pick up something new every time I do one. Then it’s a case of practice, practice and learn from your mistakes.
Keep reading and asking questions.
-
Mate…ALWAYS!!!
Not being funny but if you have to ask that question you shouldn’t consider doing a wrap 😮

Back on subject…it’s easy to set up a FB page, you just have to start.
The main thing is to get some likes so that it holds your page name. I don’t know how many you need to get the Facebook.com/yourpage address but I think every little bit helps.
Plus FB is easy to have a read of on a phone where a website isn’t.

Why don’t you see an insurance broker? They will look closely at your business and will advise the best policy for you.
They’re also independent and work for you not the insurer.
Mine is worth her weight in gold. I have never needed to call the insurance company directly with a claim. I just ring Jody and she does the lot.
Saved me about three grand this year on Workers Comprehensive Insurance as well

It’s a really finicky PIA job to do. Very labour intensive with not much return if you don’t have a sausage factory of blokes trained to do it and a heap of work.
I’ve been doing it for nearly 29 years now and have just finished doing a 4WD for a friend of the family. I’d have been better off spending the time quoting for my sign business’ work…Much more profitable.
Just my 2cents worth.

Unless you’re buying an established shop with qualified tradespeople working in the business already. -
Is this going outside mate? I thought 4.5mm was the usual for external acrylics. If these were that large, I’d use two methods for attaching it to a wall. Either Gel tape and Sicaflex (for a smooth surface), or screws in the wall to hold the sign in place while the sicaflex dries.
I’m in Western Australia so the temperature difference during a day can be quite extreme and Sicaflex can change it’s volume a lot on a normal bead due to thermal expansion.
I like to sleep at nights without worrying if my signs are going to fall down 😉

If you’re employing someone without the skills necessary to jump in and go for it, relieving you immediately then really you have no choice but to pay them the market rate for their time and effort.
Just think if you do employ a skilled worker who can allow you to hit the ground running then surely you’ll more than justify their existence wouldn’t you?
This is what’s happening at my business.
I’ve just taken on an apprentice who has just completed their pre apprenticeship on their own back. Great kid, excellent art skills and is a pleasure to be around. He’s bringing in a certain aspect to our skill base because he’s excellent at graffiti art, his car designs are killer and because he hasn’t done any of this before, he’s not restrained at all.
It’s been really quiet here for the past two months, but I’m not looking back at all. Onward and Upward I say.

Do you nave a "Repairers Lien" clause under your fair trading act over there?
Basically it means that if a vehicle is left for repairs (I read repairing an ugly exterior with great looking signage) you as the repairer holds a lien over that property (van) until it’s paid in full.
So you legally don’t have to release the vehicle until it’s paid for.
** edit** It’s under your Supply of goods and services act of 1982

Also make sure you don’t centre the media when ripping. I’ve done this and it’s caused no end of misery.

That’s bloody brilliant mate. Congrats to you both.
On a similar vein, I took my son out on a job a couple of weeks ago ‘cos my offsider was on holidays. My lad worked better, more enthusiastically and had a better finish than any one else I’ve worked with. Not bad for twelve.

To me, pull up’s do what they say…Pull up from a base. Pop up’s kind of like a pop up picture book, you need to pop out the frame and attach the print (or the print is already fixed in place).

Great for use on metal – Infact I think I bought it from AutoGlym or someone like that. Used for permanent coatings on stainless and chrome.
