Minimum height for the bottom of a sign fitted to a post

Hi all,

Could anyone give me info on Minimum height for the bottom of a sign fitted to a post in a public area or high street.

I have found temp signs should be fixed at min 2.1m above the foot way is this the same for perm signs?

Over here we have to ask the local Authority (Council). If it’s next to a road then we have to contact Main Roads Dept. Basically they all have their own different rules.

I usually use 2.4 Metres to the base as a rule of thumb though. Dunno if this helps mate.

Thanks for that,

I asked Ashby and they said 2.1 in a pedestrian zone and 2.3m is a cyclist would ride under.

There are guides on mandatory sizes materials and siting of temporary signage which all come under the chapter 8 regulations. Highways Agency and local authority also have the same guides for permanent signage. You must have the necessary permissions, certification and qualifications to work on the highways. We don’t bother anymore as it got too complicated for a simple signmaker!!
