For MX you need Convex Hi Bond 6mil and Laminate with Convex 8mil clear laminate panels need to be new or in as new condition.
They have a super thick laminate for front fenders and front Number etc but you have to order from USA.

I recently did an MX bike in Convex it lasted 3 races (10 min + 1 lapand the lad won all 3 races leading after about2 to 3 laps so it was under even less pressure) It Broke off lifted chipped and the conditions were not too bad not a lot of stones but it was very cold I was not impressed at all.

I have re-done the bike this time being maticulous in application and using a double layer of laminate to see if this helps

I sent an email to Convex (Graphic Marking Systems graphicms.com) and got no reply, phoned them and spoke to one of the guys there promised to email me some answers no reply as yet and that was 3-4 weeks ago.
You can buy it from Ireland but the shipping costs you an arm and a leg I was charged £80 for a roll of white comes in sprocketed and 15″ wide and a roll of clear laminate 12″ wide. the shipping cost almost added a third to my cost of the material which I feel was a total rip off.
You can get 600 mm wide and you can get black for number panels too but not available from anyone here as far as I know.

How much do you need ?

I am waiting for a 3m product that is just thay I have sourced for low energy plastic (actually its an alternative to my first choice as my first order turned out to have a minimum order of 2 rolls and at £500 a roll I said no (surprise surprise) so am waiting for the alternative to arrive.

I fact I haven’t finished with Convex yet and am going to pursue them as to why this stuff didn’t last 3 races (printing full colour with a PC600 is not cheap to do)

And as a final mention Danger UK don’t use Convex well they didn’t on the set of graphics that I saw anyway the base product was a 3m product that I know for sure and to me it was a glue laminate of some type that of which I am fairly certain as it was a lot more tacky than Convex ( I shall find out shortly) and it couldv’e been their laminate once I source some of this I will know.

Sorry for the long winded post if you want any Convex PM me I have some I could sell you.

ps or details where to get it.

Use application Tape on the decal position and press light to medium pressure with a temp of 150 to 180 for between 10 to 20 seconds.

    HotPRINT White
Description: Transfer film for use with thermal printers such as the Gerber Edge and Roland Colour Camm.
    Applications: T-Shirts and Sportswear.
    Advantages:
    • Soft very thin film.
    • Durable prints.
    • High washability 80°C.
    • Supplied by the metre at 500mm and 380mm wide.
    • Print & Cut.
Instructions: Print using the normal method.
    Press at 150 – 180 °C for 10 to 20 seconds.
Recommendations: Small logos and letters are easier to transfer with application tape. Remove tape after cooling.
Apply application tape immediately after printing and
    cutting to prevent edge lifting.
    * Due to variation of fabric types always pre-test.
Please ensure that you remove the backing film when cold.

Taken from Victories web site under Specs for Hot Print.

    Hope this fixes you up.
I found that some of the tapes actually marked the print when pressing but you can actually buy the proper tape from Victory to use for this.

I find that printing as a .bmp gets rid of lines in some files in spots I can eliminate banding well have done recently in orange and black.

Seems to be worse on the process colours as it does four or three passes depending on settings but i never have wide to narrow looks like an alignment setting may be needing checked.

There is a book you can buy that will tell you the best layout designs for best impact and pleasing to the eye for layout.
I cant remember what it is called Steve B takes it to bed with him every night and if you search for examples of his work you will see the standard of work that he produces

You can do a cross grade which about halfs the recommended price.
If you want to print I think you may need the Thermal module (I don’t know if it is just for thermal printers or not) adds quite a bit but comparable to Flexi full bifta I would say same goes for Flexi you can cross grade to seen it on somw of the American sites no mention on any British ones though.

If you need the thermal module for spot printing etc I wouldn’t expect much change from £1700 but I might be wrong just going on what I paid for E6 and the cost of the thermal module.

Update on the Spot colour saga.

Had a Cadlink rep phone me asked a few questions ie if i had been able to do print spot colours before as he said Ver 7 is primarily for the Edge (better not be or I want my money back) anyway told hime it worked in E6.

Said he would call back he didn’t.
I have a laptop and fired it up to see E6 sitting there and hooked it up to print Printed spots no problem black and silver with the orange ribbon no probs

Imported that .pal file into Ver 7 and it didn’t work.

Did a reinstall of Ver 7 and will try again today sometime to see if I get the spot colour message when I go to print and to see if Cadlink call back.

I ain’t gonna hold my breath.

I know from the PC600 (using colour choice) there is a file you can import to Illustrator that gives you a contour cut line in the swatch that it adds to your palettes. but I’m sure you can do it without this all to do with line type size and colour.
I’ll have a hunt around an see if I can find anything.

What I can’t understand is why I get the message about spot colours the first couple of times I printed the file (still didn’t print them) but now I get no message.

I load the Roland PC600 palette and choose the spot colour from there the code is correct for the colour the only thing it says is it’s a spot foil so I changed this to spot colour and it makes no difference.

I noticed that I was opening a pallete instead of loading it (made no difference anyway.)

When I view the installed palettes Roland is not there even though I select it load it

Even tried mapping colours and it still don’t work.

I am using CMYK should it be RGB???

Laptops may be good but they are always a compromise compared to a desktop they have to be o other option if you eed to hump it around get oe otherwise desktop every time.

It says that in the help file that you get a message like this and I did twice and it seemed to want to print them as a seperate page so I clicked no and now I don’t get the message which I think I am supposed to do.

On the same point the code on the cartridge was black so I stuck on a silver one and made the colour silver but still don’t get the message or printing a spot
So am sittig back from it for a while and might even try thru Illustrator and RCC though that would be another “learning” experience as I haven’t done it that way before.

I will try both options an see how I get on.

Is the banding between passes or in a pass If between it would be to do with the thickness of the material if in a pass seems like head damage

Find nothing wrong with Hot print its the thinnest of them all as far as I am aware and it tells you it will curl back on you but I find that its the weed part that curls back anyway
I use a PC600 though and I think this stuff is foor thermal anyway but I ain’t 100% sure of this.
Find it does a great job.

If you have Summa control on your computer just turn AUTOLOAD OFF and when you load a sheet it does the width of the sheet between the rollers and then stops .
BEFORE you send any cut job to the plotter make sure you spool enough through the plotter manually and then back again and press enter.(if using a roll) as it wont pull the media off the roll in this mode.

It shouldn’t be a problem just using a sheet and once cut it stops at the end of the file you just cut
I’m sure you can do this through the menu buttons you will have to read the manual an see.

Hope you understand this. This is the way i do it all the time as I was fed up with it spooling vinyl through it all the time.

I just sld a bike on Ebay got the 2 highest bidders with -5 feedback apparently they bid on 70 bikes in 1/2 an hour and screwed a lot of deals up. I was lucky the third was a genuine buyer and he accepted.

On another note I bid on a quad lochnessy was his handle so presumed it was in Scotland. Even though at the time I knew it was too cheap and didn’t think I would win with the bid I did.

Turns out he was fron Slovenia and was going to deposit 9000 eoruos in my account from a friend in the UK who owed him money. I had to send him the difference so he could pay for the shipping and in the mean time after you send the money they take the original amount back from your account apparently.

Wonder if they could do that if the account was empty play them at their own game would love to try it if possible.

Another was to send him money in a different name he checks the money is deposited and sends you the goods an you change the name to his account to withdraw it. Think its gonna sit there long enough to be able to do that. NOT

Apparently to be safe don’t touch anything with moneygram OR Western Union you have no comeback against fraud.

Fraid not Rob its a home made jobbie and he wants an addition below
The sign ends where your spanner is made from angle iron galvanised locally bin up for 7 years and not a spot of rust on it so I don’t want to drill any of it

Its like the corporate signs (on the inside of the 2 poles but welded to the poles)

The additional sign is going below and in between the poles same as the original (web address)

apart from that well done bit daunting doing it for the first time especially when some one is hoverin in the background.

I have been told the early in the morning in November here in Scotland just after first light if you
Turn with your back facing England
bend over as far as you can while still on your feet and put your head between your legs as far as you can and look up to the sky as hard as you can you can actually see URANUS!!

    Never tried it mind.
