Hi Rich
I ve got Summa D60 although i cant advise with regards to flexisign as i use the corel plugin. I had a similar problem, it was spitting out the sheet vinyl instead of measuring it, i found exiting the cutting prog and turning the cutter off and back on cured it. Something to do with the software remembering the ‘origin’ of the last job
you may have already tryed this, but thought it maybe some help -
ok forget flexi and how do you get your cutter to size an off cut ??
-
when i load a sheet it sizes it then, it rolls the sheet all the way through then back automatically and the head travels the full lenght left to right. The cutting software displays the media length then when you goto cut.
if you load an offcut does it, 1. move the head the full lenght left to right?
2. feed the sheet all the way through then back again?Have you got the rear sensor on?
-
sensor in settings is on when i lower rollers it goes left then right but not up and down to size length
-
if i go to load menu i can size it by using keys untill it gets to end of media then setting media window but there must be a way so it does it on auto
if then after i have done this i poll from flexi and size is in setting for length
-
sorry i cant be of more help but the only other thing i can think of is to check that AUTOLOAD is on, whether or not this is the right setting to achieve what you are trying to do i dont know but it is set to ON ,on my D60.

OK thanks
any one
if i put rollers down then goto menu select load and it will measure length is this the only way to do it ??? -
is the sensor clean?
you can test it in SENSOR SETUP, under the SYSTEM SETUP menu. by passing a scrap of vinyl over it, the LCD displays if it is detecting the vinyl
Alternatively with the machine at idle with the rollers up, it should display INSERT MEDIA, if you put your finger over the senor the screen should change to LOWER CAMROLLERS if it is working -
as you said thats all working
what i cant work out is on my other cutter you have to tell cutter first if your using a roll or single sheet that way in know to measure length -
If you have Summa control on your computer just turn AUTOLOAD OFF and when you load a sheet it does the width of the sheet between the rollers and then stops .
BEFORE you send any cut job to the plotter make sure you spool enough through the plotter manually and then back again and press enter.(if using a roll) as it wont pull the media off the roll in this mode.It shouldn’t be a problem just using a sheet and once cut it stops at the end of the file you just cut
I’m sure you can do this through the menu buttons you will have to read the manual an see.Hope you understand this. This is the way i do it all the time as I was fed up with it spooling vinyl through it all the time.

I have recently purchased a d1200.
nice machine but I have asked them why they chose put the x & y axis the wrong way round compared with the rest of the world. They have no switch to put it right. However I have asked them to fix it since my operators find that Inspire jobs have to be turned sideways to cut properly. having turned it sideways the prompts become confused.
this may have some bearing on your problem.
Anyone with a spare Inspire 1.6 with dongle let me know.summa support are at http://www.summa.be/pages/support.html

The summa running through Flexi should measure across and then twice the length of the cross measurement. you can use the the show me toggle to see if what you are cutting will fit and i believe that it then alters the shown measurement, not 100% on that though. if it is not scanning for length then something as been turned off on the plotter. i run a d60 & a newer d120se and both operate the same.
Hope this helps
