What is a reasonable out gassing time to leave from print to laminating?

We could boast of its quality and longevity and other aspects but this leaves me a little shaky in recommending to clients

MemberJune 20, 2017 at 9:28 am in reply to: Grenfell Tower fire, Aluminium Composite Material – Is this a fire hazard? So its the insulation in between the composite board
I did wonder because they said it was for insulation purposes why it was fitted and you would not think straight away of raynobond or dibond being used in such a way. It would be more of a cosmetic finish to the insulating core

Gordon Bennett! Phill!
You’ve just taught me a lesson in patience and keeping your cool

Best thing I can say Phill is ‘Have a Great Holiday’

Looks great
Always a pain when the scaffold gets in the way of the brush
Worse still when you hit your head on scaffold pole :bangshead:
Always wear a hard hat now after so many head knocks 😆

quote :Not to mention a few fakes that have appeared over the years (and probably one or two that are current). My favourite was a guy called Oreo who was supposedly a Native American who “spoke”(typed) with an accent a little like little plum from the Beano. I recall realising he wasn’t for real one night when there were a flurry of posts going and his accent gradually vanished until he was as coherent as the rest of us 😆 😆
At least I think that’s what happened- maybe I dream’t it :awkward:
No I don’t think you’re going cookie Phill as I seem to remember Oreo taking the biscuit

Thanks Stafford
I’ll try and give that a shot
Appreciate your help

There’s just some folk you’ll never forget simply because they were terrific guys
John was top of the list  -

Gold leaf should never really be lacquered as it would lose it lustre
But I always explain to the customer that gold leaf if left untouched will outlive anything as it is gold but at the same time I explain that it the most vulnerable if attempts are made to rub down and clean as it is beaten so thinlyQuestion: Should you lacquer to protect gold?
Depends!
Is it in a area prone to high spoilage? Example where pigeons are likely to leave their calling cards
I’ve used ‘Frog Juice’ applied with brush to give a tough finish to a fascia after gilding because of thisIf not in danger of high spoilage or in range of vandals then leave gold leaf as is for maximum lustre
Also gold leaf if untroubled will outlive lacquer which even given the claim of 7-10yr will soon start crazy pavingSo in conclusion from photographs submitted there is nothing wrong with the gold leaf job your suppliers have supplied but perhaps they should have told you that if an attempt is made to clean then great care must be exercised in doing so

Wow!
What a way to start the year! 🙁
Interesting what George says: If you do notice scratches whether windows, paintwork or motors point it out first BEFORE doing any work
This is what I do
David: I’ve grabbed your vehicle check form – Thanks

Well it seems quite a few of us are at this stage now-I’m close to 64
like Martin, Graham and others say you really can just choose what level, volume, type you’re happy with
A massive job comes along
what do you do?
Undertaking could means lots of dough at the end of it but could leave you mentally, physically stressed out
You then realize you passed up lots of time to just to relax, be with the family, your children/grand childrenI’ve passed over some great jobs simply because I don’t need the headache the stress the worries
I just want to keep it simpleIf finances permit just trim down on the workload

congrats tim
you’ve worked hard to reach your goal with a dogged determination
all the best :appl:

Great Stuff David
Looks like you’re busy busy

Gert
It sounds like you still want to keep your hand in with the signs else you’d ditch the lotI know what you mean about creativity though as more clients have precise specs to follow
-
If there is any tendency to mark your product/substrate with colours you may find it difficult to remove particularly red whereas black and white used judicially shouldn’t pose a problem
-
Always use stabilos and they’re always in my kit
Generally you’ll only need black or white
Avoid using red or other colours for that matter
Keep them out of the hot sunExcellent for marking out on glass

As I understand the big secure creditors get paid out first and unsecured creditors last which I guess you know what that means 🙁

Nice Stuff Roger
Thanks for taking the time to share
Did you apply frosting dry or wet?

The 40th anniversary!
Should be a big splash (of paint of course)
-
quote Bob Scullion:“The Vinyl Corporation is where I got my Oracal vinyl from anyway”
where they not supplied via paperlinx? Its obviously going to be a bit of a pain to start with but oracal will want to resolve supply issues asap.
That of course did cross my mind! But I can’t say for sure

Suffered from a stroke and that sent him spiralling downwards

Heard it on the car radio but I was a bit confused when it said it had gone into receivership but will be keeping a few branches open. Now I understand its the Ireland branches that will be still trading
The Vinyl Corporation is where I got my Oracal vinyl from anyway

Nice One Tim!
I presume the cream lettering is the vinyl bit? 😕

Hi Chris
Its what happens sometimes, we digress
But we do enjoy folk putting there work up
The young people in North London can’t get enough of this memorabilia
A perspex sign was taken down on one shop and it revealed an old painted sign
It continues to attract the attention of the young people who are constantly taking pictures of itThe shop owner wants me to recreate a traditional hand painted one following the style and colour of the original
Yucatan Bar
This pub has been painted about 5 or 6 times since I did the signwriting. They left the signwriting alone. My signwriting is still there after nearly 24 yr
Everything freehand – no paper templates – just get up there with a piece of chalk to mark out and then paint in

Thanks Harry will add that to our t & c’s from now on. I have done that David left her a message – she’s on holiday til Monday. I shouldn’t have said “easy job today” this morning – jinxed it!! What about payment? I would ideally like to be paid something it is 90% fully signed but stopped when it began peeling. If you are using a paper application tape – soak it and it’ll virtually fall off without removing any more paint.
What’s the name of the application tape David?
I used to do the same with application tape, soak it, leave it for a little while and it would fall away…. easy peasy. Not anymore! Stuff I get now seems to be ‘waterproof’ -

MemberOctober 2, 2014 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Telling a customer he is wrong – help needed dissuading themI can recollect a guy phoning me up and asking for some lettering to be put on his van. When I asked what colour he would like the lettering he said dark blue. I asked him the make and model of his van.
So I got to work and designed his artwork and sent through a proof to which he said that’s great. So I cut everything ready for fitting the next day
Come the day to fit, he brought the vehicle round. As he drove up I was shocked to see that his van was dark blue -
