I didn’t design the logo, the artwork for that was supplied, and the cow print was what the customer asked for, so i suppose the ball is in there court on that one.

BTW the logo was printed for me by Sticky mark , and he done a great Job….

    Hi Guys (& Gals)

The customer decided to have the unit stripped and she will sort out putting it back if she doesn’t keep it.

This is how it turned out.

Thanks goes to Sticky Mark for the digital Images, nice job Mark 😀

If you have a few nigles (i did last week as well) just back up all of your stuff, and format. easiest way, and only takes a couple of hours to get back to a working pc with programs installed. i would also partition your HD so in the future you have a seperate HD to store all your files on, so when u do re-format you dont have to back up as much , as all you have to then format is your c: drive.

I normaly give my c: drive 30gig and the rest goes to my d: drive. I find 30gig plenty for my programs ect. then the rest 90gig on a 120 hd is more thna enough for all my downloads and games ect.

    Hi Again.

I just got the unit into the workshop, and i have a query on the clading it in panels. As the courners are curved, i was thinking of using 1mm forex on it and bending it around the courners and fixing it on teh stright edge. with a tin strip under both edges and gluing them. would this work?? or if not forex what material would bend around this without too much trouble.
Leaving teh couners at a 90deg angle wouldn’t look right even if i filed in teh top with a couner piece.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Cheers for the feedback.

Right looking into it the “hire company” turns out to be the comapny that owns the ice cream cart. They want the livery put back 100% as it was. the company that are using it have only got it till the end of March.
After reading the posts earlier and speaking to McRod, i’m going to clad the outside on all for sides with 5mill Forex, with the courners held together with thin angle aluminium (rivited) This way as soon as they finish with it, the sides come off and voila. well that is the plan.

I have now put that to the company and they have given me the job (which is nice 😕 )

    Thanks again for the feedback.

I have NTL 1 meg at home, no real problems with them. very fast download speeds.

I have just had BT BB put in at the workshop. Free instelation if ordered on line with free modem ext. £29.99 a month. Seems ok atm.

As some of the other guys say browsing can get slow due to internet trafic at thier end, as to downloads with BT no problems and Games run sweet as well ( well u do have downtime in between jobs 🙂 )

Also just order 1 line and use internet sharing ( don’t tell them) and everything is ok. If u go with a cable company your router will do it all, if BT just use a hub, with winXP it couldn’t be easier.

    Hi Guys

thanks for the feedback Rob and Big G.

I was given a small sample from a local competetor 🙂 ( the things i can get the wife to do ) to show the customer the vinyl, but this doesn’t feel like normal ( oracal 751 or 651) at all, where they feel well rubbery if u like this feels hard and well more like a very very thin plastic. if that makes any sence. and yes Rob it does feel very brittle.

The two types i saw in the product cat were the silver and gold ORACAL 8510 Etch Glass Film

Rob all i have atm is a scetch of what they are after, basicaly they want the two signs be held off the wall by 6 inches and to overhang the courner of the wall by 6 inches so that both edges meet.a bit like wraping the sign around the courner but away from the wall. if that makes any sense. (trying to visualise it in my head and do maths at the same time hurts)
i’ll post a drawing tomorrow, as i dont have a scanner at home atm.

I got caught the other Sunday doing 37 in a 30 by a mobile unit. In my defense in teh 10 yrs i’ve lived in Aylesbury i always thought that that streach of the road was a 40, as all the other areas around there are 40.

Ohh well i’ll pay, it’s my first ever conviction in 16 yrs of motoring, and they didn’t catch me doing 120 up to McRod the other month or all the other times i have been speeding, i do only open up outside town though nlot anywhere near the schools ect.

Ohh the fuzz got me last sat for not wearing my seatbelt as well, 30 quid fine no points though.

That one did gut me as i have been wearing it recently but i forgot.

And they hide behind the bushes to get you too. (:)

    Hi Spookysign

I have just Installed my Roland to a PC running XP and i downloaded the XP drivers. I take it you have used the updated drivers not the windows 98 ones.

That may be the problem. I did have a problem when nothing was being sent to my plotter at all, but after reinstalling the drivers a few times it now works a treat 🙂

Steve as you said Apprenticeships are the best way to learn any trade IMHO.

I left school at 15/16 (youngest in my year0 and i completed a 4 year apprentiship for Lucas Aerospace as a machinist / toolmaker. now i didn’t stay in that trade afterwards for long , but the real life experiance it taught me is somthing i do not believe i could ever learn just in “further Education”.
We have Graduate Managers where i am on the railways ATm (hopefully after xmas i can go on my own) and there isn’t 1 decent manager amoungst them , they have no common sence, they can’t manage people, but they have all these degrees ect. now the managers who have worked their way up from the bottom, some ex appretices are probably the best we have, ok they may not fit in with the new way that the company want them to behave, but they get the job done and most inportant of all, they have the respect of the Staff. something i honestly dont think the graduates will ever get.

    Anyway enough of this rambleings.

    Hi Steve

Yeah i can, but i realy hate working with wood 🙁 now metal is more my game after my apprentiship in toolmaking.

But hmm i can think on this 🙂

    cheers for the idea

what sort of materials do u use?? as £60 on materials seem a bit steep if it’s all made out of wood.

Yup Quakenet is used for gamers….

I can always set a channel up and see what goes on from there if you want.

Once we get “L” we can password it so only the board members can get in ect.

Let me know, or if i’m oversteping my mark let me know 😕

I use Mirc (IRC) for my gaming , it is pretty easy to set up and it’s FREE 😀

what is also handy with Mirc is you can file share as well, which is pretty handy.

If it would be a usefull tool to add-on to the forum i realy don’t know. I think things work very well just as they are, but sometimes it is nice to just be able to chat in Real Time.

if you want to have a further look at MIRC here is the link http://www.mirc.com/

and I can always help with it if you wish as I do use it quite a lot and have had dealings with setting up groups ect.

but tbh i do think things work well as they are.

Also 512meg of Ram is the minimum, the more you have the happier XP is. i have 1 meg and i want more ( just for my games u understand 🙂 )

Also look at your windows system restore , turn teh size of that down too, it takes a huge amount of resorces. you will find that under control panel , system , system restore.

I personaly wouldn’t have anyother operating system now.

Also make sure you have ALL the updates for it.

I have also found that when i used the “Users” functions for different users ie: the wife and kids, i had no end of problems running programs ect. so i don’t bother with that.

I agree with this , telesales are realy anoying …

    quote :

I wish the telephone companies would implement a feature allowing telphone users to reject any incoming calls where the number is withheld

My friend who has his own garage has a feature with BT that does this , i’m not sure how it works but i know he can block numbers from calling him and i also believe he can bar withheld numbers , i will find out for you tomorrow what he has ect
