    Hi People.
Here is a sign I did over the summer. In my opinion, it is a cookie-cutter layout, but it is the design the client chose from the three examples I provided.
The background is Alumalite. The cream-colored border & copy are cut from Calon II HP Vinyl. All outlines & fill are hand-painted in 1-Shot lettering enamels. The faux marble panel is also done by drizzling 3 colors of 1-Shot in the desired area then daubing with a crinkled plastic bag, then painting in a few delicate veins, finally blending down with a soft dry fitch.
I like to use paint whenever possible. Not only is it far cheaper than vinyl, the headache of weeding & masking is non-existant. It is also a lot of fun. Even a beginning brusher can learn to outline.
In retrospect, the size of the layout is much too big for the substrate. But it helped get me money to go to Cork!
    Love- JILL
    😉

a pal of mine showed me it, he was at Cork, Paul Rafferty, little fella about 30 shoulder length brown hair he was there with his dad Dennis. If you want to have a look at his ugly mug, Signcraft may/june 2001 page 26.

I agree Rob – smart marbling Jill! 😉

I also like the little bit of a glow created by the light blue secondary outline – and there are some lovely shapes going on in there! 😀

    Hi folks…
    Glad you liked it.
Robert, the 1-Shot sort of seals the edges of the vinyl. It sticks like you-know-what to a blanket. Get a quill and some turpentine, crack open your can of paint & start experimenting, dude! Just remember to oil your brush when you’re done cleaning it.
I got yelled at by an old-timer for not using proper marble colors. It is true that I need to reasearch marbling further, but I liked the blue effect even tho I know it is not something found in nature.
I love to use a secondary outline…I call it a pin-line. It helps things pop!
    Love- Jilly

I agree..nice job Jill. Interesting what you say about outlining, not exactly a “beginning brusher” but I still find outlining the most time consuming of all the lettering embelishments.I quite often use paint on vinyl for vehicles (successfully),though I did forget to degrease the vinyl on a job recently and guess what ! the paint fell off. doh!
