sorry jem meant to say a bit scary for you at least you wern’t confronted by them we got broken into one night whilst we were in bed, fotunatly we didn’t hear them.
we didn’t have this business then they stole quite a bit including a video camera and the bits that go with it + cd’s etc it is quite a long story but the outcome was the police recovered the camera etc, brought it back to us Peter noticed the wires were differant asked the detective if they had looked at the video 😮 he said no Peter played the video they had only filmed their selves (they said they had found the stuff in the car they nicked to cart our stuff away with) very embarrased detective says “would you mind if I take this back cause now we can charge them!!) 😛Lynn

MemberJune 15, 2005 at 8:58 pm in reply to: does anyone use JAC vinyl if so how do you find it?sorry nigel you are half right when you have weeded what ever it is,
you are left with the up side (smooth) of the backing paper around your graphics you need the app tape to stick to this other wise it flaps around every where and sticks to what you don’t want it to,
does that make any sense?? I do seem to be going through a senseless period 😮Lynn
-
Chris are you talking about weeded bits or full original bits (?)

Dewie, is it not possible to make an array of what you have, then rotate
or mirror the diffent elements so that it looks random?
Lynn -
Martin,
I am sure there are many excellent employee’s out there like you,
you are just very hard to come by, the sort around now finish what they are doing and wait and wait and wait until some one tells them what is next in a small place you can’t afford the waiter you need someone who looks and thinks that needs doing and gets on and does it,

supposing the grahics were £250.00 for a decorator, gas /heating enineer, plumber, builder they would have the graphics paid for with half a job so why do they say things like that to us it makes me cross as they are not saying but implying we are less skilled or proffesional than them 😛 call any of them out and say good bye to a lot of money

MemberJune 3, 2005 at 11:23 am in reply to: ivor williams trailers – ideas for signs please?Brian,
ive done quite a few of these, Never had any problems getting the vynil to stick, just make sure its cleaned properly. and if its not brand new, a rub over with a brillo pad will bring it up shiny.
Some colours dont look to good on galvanised, but you could always flood coat it, cheaper than dibond.
Lynn -
no your right he’s gone now and it was longer than 3 mins and he wouldn’t get his back up to you 😛

MemberJune 2, 2005 at 10:01 pm in reply to: why does my magnetic signs have curling edges?yes John they do when you cut them right but macky d was suggesting buying them panel sized unless I missunderstood (?) I also put mine on the side of the fridge till customer collects them it’s the biggest flattest metal surface I have radiators don’t work well 😛
Lynn

MemberJune 2, 2005 at 9:31 pm in reply to: why does my magnetic signs have curling edges?Hello Macky
nice idea but I don’t think many sign makers would buy them as i’m sure most buy magnetic on a roll that makes it that much cheaper and don’t mind the extra time it takes to make them fit just my thoughts 😀
Lynn

I would be tempted to right justify on the panels cause they are odd shapes and I think you need at least your phone number higher
and instead of black what about charcoal metalic, looks good as it is just my thoughtsLynn :lol1:

Hi paul

Lynn

becky, for small stuff I wouldnt bother, unless you are doing them by the thousand Most small stickers are short term anyway
lynn -
mark,
the coat of alms wasnt that simple!
Lynn -
On vinyl you can only cold lam as far as a I am aware, hot lam is for paper prints
lynn -
Dave
trounce, bannerbox or others will supply
lynn -
Sounds like a good idea, but price guides are just that, guides!
How much do you charge for a pound of spuds? the answer, if you ask the big supermarkets is, Buy as cheap as you can. and sell for as much as you can get! Keep an eye on what the comp is charging, that is a good a guide as any. Get your friends to phone other sign companies for quotes, and you will soon get a feel for your local market.
Lynn -
I think to cut them manually is going to take a bit of time, if you have to, use a band saw,you will be able to get a more accurate cut.
But there are now lots of companies that supply flat cut letters, at very reasonable rates, its hardly worth the effort to make them yourself.
Lynn -
Again Phil is that three times ?
they say three times lucky I was
Lynn
-
so no one want’s to prove how clever we are 😛
Lynn
-
yes Shane that is what I mean I don’t really know what it’slike were you are but I think you have more of a community feeling than any of us do
I do try to “keep it local” it’s hard sometimes cause your local shops don’t always have what you need but i try my bestLynn
-
didn’t mark mine debbie but i got more right than wrong peter got more right than me but thats life 😛
Lynn
-
I know you would know the answer to a silly question Nik cause you wouldn’t think it was a silly question its is only silly if you don’t know the answer
lynn
-
Do you recon we can all get together and do it? we would have to choose the cleverest people how do we do that?
I think if we could it would be a good laugh it’s not serious like millionare you don’t win or loose lots of money for a wrong answer don’t know how you go about it spect we could find out
Lynn
-
ok then John your on the team I always knew Nik was in to astrophysics
Lynn
-
Nik
to do what you do you must have assorted knowledge on all kinds of things unless you start thinking about it you don’t realise what you know when/if you watch milllionare or any quiz programmes I bet you get most answers right without giving a great deal of thoughtLynn
-
Yes we barter a little bit Patio doors Plants for pots and baskets. meat from the butcher all local all kept local we all have to take care of our local communitys other wise we won’t have them, I would sooner go down my local high street and they know who I am and also know I’m getting good stuff mostly they only do good stuff not always cheapest, my sister came down to stay for a day or two she was so impressed that the butcher said oh hi Lynn you ok? how’s Peter she shops at the big supermarkets and don’t know her from adam. keep it local
Lynn 🙂
-
Hi Phil
welcome hope you find it usefull here I’m sure with the years behind you in the business you will be a great help to others. 😀
Do any of your children work with you ?Lynn
-
Hi Packman welcome 😀
when ever you spend money on making money always pay as much as you can and always buy proper stuff you may spend a bit more but you know youv’e got the back up and help that goe’s with it for example buy some thing form impact have a problem it’s sorted with a phone call (not in impacts pay) it could be anyone. and buy your vinyls as you need them most firms deliver next day so if you haven’t got it no customer can expect to see you and get sorted the same day. you can always ask for samples to show customers you don’t need to be stacked out with vinyl.
O.K. big confession time when we first started ordered lots of vinyl I liked the colour of unfortunately (or fortunately) most of our customers are big burley decorators buiders gardeners so they didn’t really want pink purple or teal.
still have quite a bit left sorry of on a spin
lynn
-
I wish I could remember what being a virgin felt like 😛
