cherry picker hire cost
Posted by A Misselbrook on June 16, 2005 at 3:27 pmHi
I need to gain access to a projecting sign to refit the signs. When itook it down i was able to reach out from my ladder to unscrew them but I dont want to try it again putting them back! The sign projects quite a distance and I could only just reach to unsrew them! Does it cost much to hire a cherry picker? I only need it for about 5 minutes!!! Do you reckon a bt driver would give me a go on their bucket for a tenner!!

It would be cheaper to hire a tower , but depends on the height you are talking about, then again are you any good at abseiling? 😉
or have you thought about a “stand off” for your ladder?

if your fast with your screw driver, what about a trapoline. £25 from argos, and you get to keep it for other fittings 😀
£80-£100 one day minimum hire. better doing it right… proper rawl bolt fixings etc. getting it up is easy, keeping it there is harder. if it comes down it will finish you and the person it hits.

Peter is right. I discovered to my cost that a recent hire was not covered by any insurance. I have been hit with a repair bill for some minor damage that occurred. This got me thinking about the consequences of a total loss (what if the machine had been stolen while in my charge) we’d have been liable for the cost to replace the machine. I had assumed my business insurance would cover it but on reading the small print discovered it excludes equipment not owned by us but on hire to us. 😕
Something to think about when hiring expensive equipment.

We have our own Van mounted, however, as it is getting a little old, we tend to hire in for any kind of long journey. We pay £60 per day for a van mount and have to cover it on our own insurance (Hendy Hire).
The problem with that is that a lot of insurance companies won’t touch cherry pickers, so unless you already have a policy in place, you may well struggle if you were looking at a van mount.
