Tsunami warning at my house!!!
Posted by Marekdlux on June 15, 2005 at 1:50 pmI was watching TV last night and a warning came on the screen for a Tsunami warning for my county. There was a 7.0 earthquake off the California coast and the entire West Coast of the U.S. had a Tsunami warning. Apparently this is standard procedure whenever there is an earthquake of that magnitude off the coast. It was cancelled after about 45 minutes so I was able to go to bed and not worry. It did get my heart rate going for a few minutes though.

I’m about 7 miles inland, but in a valley with a river that goes to the ocean. I used to live a block from the ocean, I definately would have been heading for the hills if I was still living down there. I’m just glad that we have a warning system in place for something like this. There was an earthquake Sunday morning that I felt at my house. Now those are scary because you have absoletly no warning and you never know how strong/long they will be. I guess it’s the price you pay to live in California.

I would have been well scared if I was you. Earthquakes and Tsunamis scare the heck out of me. That’s why I live at the top of a mountain! I reckon it would have to be a damn big Tsunami to get me here.
Do you get many quakes there?
The earth doesn’t move much around here………….. 😳 -
Here is the latest map. All those squares are quakes. The bigger yellow one near the bottom right is the one I felt on Sunday. The large blue one on the top left is the one last night that caused the warning. The smaller ones you don’t really feel.

i spent a month in Californian with my family mate. in that time we had two tremmers. lasted about 30 seconds i think, not a good feeling 😮
i think i had the thoughts of huge cracks opening and cars falling in them etc maybe been watching too much TV.
went to hollywood for weekend too, on return we had a hit and run into our car. nearly killed the lot of us on the freeway. we zig-zagged all over the place. the guy that hit us hit other cars but mangaed to gain control and get away… all that said i loved the place. would go back in a second but hate flying. :lol1: -
Whhhoooaaaa now that would have been a scarey moment!!
We have had small tremors in Hereford I think the last one was a couple of years ago … woke me up .. Steve slept through it thought I was winding him up the next morning till it was on the news :lol1:

I’ll stick to Western Pennsylvania with my severe thunderstorm & tornado warnings thank you very much!
Hope all is OK Marek.
Knowing you, you’d be on a surfboard trying to catch the wave!

Marek,
wasn’t there another quake last night? was that one anywhere near you?
Things seem to be getting a little shaky out there at the mo! -
Jem, there was an earthquake but we didn’t feel it at my house. They say a big one might be coming, then again they say that every year.

There will be a + to the earthquake Marek.
Legoland will shutdown for a while & you can join me briefly and make a bazillion dollars remaking signs all around town and still have your benefits.
Benefits with benefits

:lol1: Or we can just cruise down to baja and drink margaritas while everyone else has to work….
-Marek -
Well make some first, then travel down to baja with money falling out of our socks and pockets ordering maggies & coronas with girls table dancing on our table
