Alade
I have seen this more than often with 2nd hand cadets
If the machine has not been looked after by the previous owner then worst case it will be new heads to rectify the print problems if the nozzles have blocked.
I have had a customer where all six heads were blocked but 2 weeks of alot of tlc and soaking did revive them.
Most that i know use the roland colorip ( rebadged Wastach ) with no problems what so ever and using the cadet or grenadier.
Converting back to the origional roland inks is also straight forward.
Using activasol inks you do have to regulary clean the machine i recommend at least twice a week. with the roland inks i recommend a quick 5 min maintanence proceedure once every 4 four weeks.

It is looking like ink starvation or a fault on the media. Are the faded lines appearing at regular intervals or not.
If it is ink starvation it could be a number of reasons.

The AJ-1000 uses 1 litre cartridges and is a 6 colour machine

Hugh
Fantastic
I love it
Being a natural welsh boyo myself

i think that is one of the reasons from roland yes but officially in rolands t&c’s any alien ink invalidates the warranty
When you convert a cadet back to eco sol max you flush out with cadet cleaning fluid then roland cleaning fluid and then put in the roland ink.
Normally I change pumps, wiper blades, dampers and heads depending on how bad they are from the solvent
-
the SP540v is a great machine but please note that Roland no longer supply the SP range now it is the VP-540 or VP-300
These machines are of equal quality but made even better.
The main difference is that the new vp range is a four head machine while the sp i only 2 therefore print speed is quicker i think if memory serves me correct upto 14sq/m per hour
I work for a roland agent and Have installed these into many clients all with great customer satisfaction.
the only way if you are specifically looking at the sp is if you know anyone selling them or you can find one on ebay for instance.

roland do not support or produce eco sol max ink in bottle form. i have converted a number of cadets back to being a versacamm because of the activasol and citrosol ink being to agressive on the caps and heads
yes you can get 3rd party ink in bottle form but officially it is not supported

also to check if your pump is ok do a normal or powerful clean and while it is doing that gently unscrew yhe waste bottle and see if the 2 tubes leading into the waste bottle are P1ssing ink if they are you have a good seal.
Also check to see if you have ink on the cogs of the pump. if you have then you have a ink leak inside the pump.

MemberMay 22, 2007 at 8:46 pm in reply to: what is making the cadet cross contaminating the inks?Phil sounds like the capping stations have swollen as already mentioned yes they are a dodle to change but just be aware of the 2 springs under each cap if you are doing it yourself
I have worked on a number of these machines with contamination issues and it was either the caps, pumps but on occasion the dampers but more likely to be the first 2
Where abouts in the country are you

i would personally recommend solutions 2 give mike or steve a call
we do not recommend bulk ink feeds for the versacamms.
-
mark
p.s
is that a can of 4 x in your hand there :2thumbs:
-
Mark
To get a good grey scale scale i normally use pre press europe in versaworks but the latest version of the rip 2.2.2 has improved even more wioth the added functionality of improved colour matching is fantastic.
I normall use metamark md5-100 vinyl but i guess that is personal preference.

-
thanks
eco solmax ink is slightly better too
I had a experience where the greyscale was coming out green but versaworks and eco sol max inks sorted that out
cheers
-
yes very slow and it is with my thumb 🙁
-
ok sorry
just trying to be friendly
-
as far as i know versaworks is not compatible with and SP-300 but it is compatible with the SP-300v that is why i asked.
There is a proceedure to convert a 300 to a 300v by means of firmware and a few other things.
Which i can find out for you if you like
-
thanx.
have tried my solvent cleaning fluid from my tool kit but that didn’t work

I would recommend the vp 540 any day
yes it is quicker having 4 heads not 2 print speeds are quicker and a bonus is the machine is a lot lighter to move. Personally i like these more than the sp range
they will cope no issues
Go for it mate

For little stickers and bits and pieces like that I would recommend that you look at a ROland versacamm.
I will see what 2nd hand ones there are around if budget is an issue. With these machines the sky is the limit including your more basic stuff.
I have just installed a roland machine into a sticker company today in cheltenham. while i was there we ran off 250 stickers about business card size for menu’s
Hope this helps
-
oops
sorry meant to say short on SP-540 not Sp-300
-
Dave
sorry to hear about your experience. May I ask was the supplier based in yorkshire.
I know that roland had very limited SP-300 seem as the VP has just been released.
I know that the shipment that came to the uk was not was origionally planned
-
Colin
The error of less +/-4% of distance travelled or +/-3% whicjever is greater. When distance correction has been performed i.e print & cut adjust
then your +/-2% is correct but this is not guaranteed when the heaters are being used as this sometime does expand/contract media.
Also are you using a laminate as well.
Have just installed a VP 540 today and was producing small stickers on approx 1.5 metre runs. generally you should not have a problem
