  • can anyone help with issues & our grenadier please?

Hi, we’ve had our grenadier for about 3 years and during that time we have had what feels like constant problems with it.

from issues over the cutting, drop out of the ink through to issues over the colours. Every engineer from b&p says something different or blames something different.

he had a coach wrap start of this month and we suffered from ink drop out. so b&p cured that but now the light colour’s aren’t great. black looks like crap.

I find B&P very slow in returning calls and we are still waiting for a call which was promised last week. it’s really starting to annoy us as the machine is busy almost all the time but we find that we often end up throwing away damaged vinyl.

searching on here i see that most of the grenadier users are fine and love their machine.

so are we just alone or have others had issues?

thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Rick

    hi rick

from one grenadier user to another… "please dont take this wrong" 😀

colours not coming out the way you want them, inconsistancy in shades of prints etc etc can come down to a great many things. in most cases it comes down to the operator of the machine.
andrew uses our machine daily and has done over three years… i printed a job yesterday. it was a repeat of the same file andrew had printed the week before he went on holiday. my print was exactly the same as his apart from my red wasnt as vibrant as his. i know what i didnt do but i was unsure how to rectify it, so i went with it anyway because i had allot to do…
another was we print allot of truck wraps. expereince tells us not to stop printing at the end of the day unless we complete a side. the reason is because by next morning the prints will be a shade lighter/darker/different due to the warmth in the room, the machine being shut down and so on… lots of things basically…
other reasons maybe that heads can be dirty/clogged etc so not firing correct… oversprays and ink drop outs happened to us recently… reason? we had a hair hanging from the head! 😕 simple as that but wasted allot of prints…
head crashes on media may effect/damage the heads, machine being shut down to long or not clean will result in poor or inconstant prints… machine sitting in a dusty environment, so many scenarios come into play…

i know you probably know all this but im just mentioning them anyway…

all this said, thats not to say you dont have any genuine problems with your machine mate… im just sharing what i have grown to learn through use of ours and that normally comes down to the operator. myself included in that 😳

on a side note, your 100% correct, B&P’s technical support is stretched to the max due to a decrease in their support staff in recent months, we the customers are getting well fed-up… and they need to get a grip on it fast!

I wasn’t going to reply to this post because for me it would just be going over old ground…but we’ll see where this goes…

As Rob has said there are too many variables to comment on the print problems…but having had the machine for 3 years you will know that.

What I can comment on though is that …….

As a grenadier user for 5 years now, I can honestly say I have never delt with another company as frustrating as B&P

I sense an attitude right from them answering the phone………You rarely get to deal with who you want………….located in the North East of England, engineers visits are two or three days away……..The engineers seem to want to do the bare minimum to get you printing again

Messages & calls not returned ..even after 2 or 3 chase up calls…..I could go on and on

Again as Rob has said..they are stretched to the max & it is us the customers that are suffering…..the only thing I will say on that is that over the last 5 years the follow up service has NEVER been good although I can’t really comment of late because I just don’t bother with them ( even though we have a service contract with them)

Luckily the Grenadier is quite easily maintained in house but I only know that because I’ve had to find out the hard way

at least i know it’s not us they hate.

we just never seem to get things sorted. i’m sure the machine is not printing the right colours or even printing as good as it can do.

oh well will chase them but when we buy another machine it won’t be from b&p.

I MUST ECHO YOUR SENTIMENTS ABOUT B&P AS A SUPPLIER.
WE PURCHASED TWO PIECES OF KIT FROM THEM ONE BEING A GRENADIER SP17OO PRINTER (SEE MY POSTING MYSTERY PROBLEM) AND AT THE SAME TIME A WARM TOP ROLLER LAMINATER. WITHIN THE FIRST TWELVE MONTHS WE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE LAMINATER BUT COULD NOT GET A RETURN CALL FROM THE TECH PEOPLE AND HAD TO EMPLOY THE SERVICES OF A LOCAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER TO GET THE THING WORKING PROPERLY. WE HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PRINTER AND AGAIN BEEN UNABLE TO GET ANY RESPONSE FROM B&P.

WE WERE CONTACTED BY THEIR SALES TEAM TO SEE IF WE WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE ANY NEW KIT AND WHEN I EXPLAINED THAT I PROBABLY WOULD NEVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN FOR THE REASONS ABOVE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE HAD BEEN PROBLEMS IN THE TECH DEPT BUT IT NOW HAD A PERMANENTLY MANED DEDICATED TELEPHONE NUMBER. I THOUGHT IDE GIVE IT A TRY,

YOU GUESSED IT NO REPLY AND STILL NO RETURN PHONE CALL.
