Harry the lightening strike came down the phone lines and blew every phone socket clean off the wall 🙂 it did make me jump a tad ….as it came down the phone lines it decided to go through my computer network 🙁 BT said nothing would of stopped it

As for you Marcella i would of been disappointed with any less of a welcome 🙂

George, sorry to hear about your misfortune, I am surprised that a surge protector wouldn’t have helped as I thought thats what they were for. I run the phone lines through a surge protector and thought I would be OK.

all mine are through surge protectors but as the engineers said it even blew out all protection they have in place, after all there are a couple of million volts in a lightening strike and they have to earth out anywhere they can 😥

what do they say are the chances of it happening, George? Very scary!

Do Belkin surge protectors not insure you against lightening damage if it occurs through one of their protectors? I know they have a lifetime guarantee, may be talking a load of old twaddle here mind…. 😕

Sorry to hear of your troubles George, glad you are getting sorted.

Edit: Just checked: up to £100,000 on connected goods with my Belkin Surgemaster. Was yours Belkin George???

your probably right Lorraine but mine are belkin and i think there is a bit of small print saying except for a near direct hit

this is our alarm out dialler (blown clean off the wall) and how any phone socket looked with anything plugged in 😮

The wording on the box supplied with mine is:
    Connected equipment warranty

‘Belkin will repair or replace any equipment damaged by a surge, spike or lightening strike while properly connected to a Belkin Surgemaster up to the maximum value stated on the front of the package’ (£100,000 in my case)

Other types may be different, but they should cover it somehow I would have thought. They will also replace the surge protector FOC of course! :lol1:

I lost my home comp. a couple of years ago and later the work one, which is why I make sure I buy the Belkin ones.
