Good to see you back George!! 😀 😀 that must have been a nightmare!
-
Cheers Martinos Harry
I usually slag off bt but there engineers were great they worked day and night around here to get 400 phone lines back 😀
its now a case of damage limitation
-
Is there a way to prevent that happening……I take it surge protectors were useless?
-
……………. oh god ………….. look who’s back. Sh1t…….. I thought we’d seen the last of you.
😉
Glad you’re sorted G. Place was quiet without you!
-
I assumed we’d upset you George.
Marcella is going to try harder next time I think 😉
-
Harry the lightening strike came down the phone lines and blew every phone socket clean off the wall 🙂 it did make me jump a tad ….as it came down the phone lines it decided to go through my computer network 🙁 BT said nothing would of stopped it
As for you Marcella i would of been disappointed with any less of a welcome 🙂

I know ……… just admit it ……….. you missed me! 😀

Sorry to hear this – must’ve been a nightmare to sort out. Glad to hear you’re up and running again. I presume your insurance will cover you for this.
-
cheers Phill, yet to broach it with the insurance thats my next move now i have phones back i am waiting for the "act of god" cliche 👿
-
It happened just as i was locking up at 5pm on a Friday looking forward to a chilled weekend 😕 😕
-
Makes you think is worth unplugging PCs and things when that has happened 😕
-
next time there is lightening about the area i will unplug and dont forget to unplug the network cables coz thats how it snadged me
-
George, sorry to hear about your misfortune, I am surprised that a surge protector wouldn’t have helped as I thought thats what they were for. I run the phone lines through a surge protector and thought I would be OK.
-
all mine are through surge protectors but as the engineers said it even blew out all protection they have in place, after all there are a couple of million volts in a lightening strike and they have to earth out anywhere they can 😥
-
what do they say are the chances of it happening, George? Very scary!
-
Should be OK now……..Lightening never strikes twice :lol1:
-
Do Belkin surge protectors not insure you against lightening damage if it occurs through one of their protectors? I know they have a lifetime guarantee, may be talking a load of old twaddle here mind…. 😕
Sorry to hear of your troubles George, glad you are getting sorted.
Edit: Just checked: up to £100,000 on connected goods with my Belkin Surgemaster. Was yours Belkin George???
-

The wording on the box supplied with mine is:
Connected equipment warranty‘Belkin will repair or replace any equipment damaged by a surge, spike or lightening strike while properly connected to a Belkin Surgemaster up to the maximum value stated on the front of the package’ (£100,000 in my case)
Other types may be different, but they should cover it somehow I would have thought. They will also replace the surge protector FOC of course! :lol1:
-
I lost my home comp. a couple of years ago and later the work one, which is why I make sure I buy the Belkin ones.
-
I’ve had to call them a couple of times, and everything always replaced within a couple of days, no questions asked! Excellent service.
-
That must have given you one helluva fright George. 😮 When you see what it’s done to the alarm dialer……….
just as well you had your rubber gear on then eh! 😉 -
I’m to dormant to jump at loud bangs and yes the rubber does help 😉
-
George
I guess your comps back on the net
I assume the cadet is still working ok
Cheers
