I usually buy from Roland but i’m sure there are cheaper suppliers out there?

    thanks

    Good question…

I’ll be watching this one as well.

You can get them sent from US a lot cheaper though.

    Cheers

Just gave him a call. He does recommend fully flushing the system if swapping from Roland though (even though the supplier says it not necessary)

For the price i may give it a go and see the difference (if any) in colour.

these prices are for eco sol max alternatives though aren’t they? as opposed to genuine max inks which are a Roland product.

I’ve had those kind of prices in from people, indeed some people are saying these inks out perform the max inks but they don’t on any of the samples i’ve had in so far.

maybe someone has first hand experience of the comparison?
the cost difference does make it a tempting proposition

That’s right, they are not genuine Roland inks.

The Spire digital sets are as they are a merchant of their products so that is a good price reduction compared to Roland.

You have to be careful of substituting quality over price which i dont want to do. Simply not to throw money away due to not researching alternative suppliers is what i am looking into at the moment.

    Hi Guys,

We sell the 440ml Cartridges , cant post the price on here but worth a call , our experience with selling "alternative"inks to own Brand is based on HP inks , most people wont risk infalidating the warranty , one customer who had tried them said they look exactly the same but their tubes wore out far quicker and HP charged a furtune to replace as it wasnt their inks, i am sure Roland would do the same.

Every printer I have every owned from inkjets to laser have done beautiful prints with vibrant colours until the inks were changed for cheaper ones. There is no way I would put cheap inks through my Versacamm. At the end of the day, it is always seeing if you can get the originals for cheaper, but they have dropped a lot in the last six months.

Hi, we buy our eco sol max inks from solutions 2 £75.50 for 440ml which
is the best price I have found yet

that’s a good price by comparison, but i still think they are over priced. they are great inks though.

i don’t think anyone would want to come down from the quality max inks give you but it does get confusing when other suppliers are telling you that their half price inks are actually better!

I’m still a bit skeptical on that claim

I also buy my inks from Solutions 2 for £75.50. I would highly recommend them as I have always found they have gone out there way to help when needed and consequently I am currently in the process of buying my second printer from them.

roland do not support or produce eco sol max ink in bottle form. i have converted a number of cadets back to being a versacamm because of the activasol and citrosol ink being to agressive on the caps and heads

yes you can get 3rd party ink in bottle form but officially it is not supported

what would be the reason for this then, the loss of higher income from cart sales?

when you say "converted back" you mean you did a full flush and loaded with eco-ink carts or am i missing something?

i think that is one of the reasons from roland yes but officially in rolands t&c’s any alien ink invalidates the warranty

When you convert a cadet back to eco sol max you flush out with cadet cleaning fluid then roland cleaning fluid and then put in the roland ink.

Normally I change pumps, wiper blades, dampers and heads depending on how bad they are from the solvent

But these are the same parts as used in the bigger Roland machines that have been converted to run solvent inks, is it not that these machines suffer more due to not being used as much.

but surely if roland supplied their own ink in bottles there would be no alien ink contamination?
when it comes to their new extra wide range of printers such as Advanced Jet AJ-1000, are you saying this runs on carts only? 😕

my opinion here maybe frowned upon by some here, but… to convert a solvent machine back to eco-solvent, a full flush is all that is needed and can be carried out by any competant machine operator.
fine, if you want to argue roland has a different sort of flush also, then by all means use that… plugin your carts and your basically ready to go!
    however,
if you are a supplier/technician and charging for a service on a machine along with the flush then yes, while there change dampers, wipers etc etc
i do not say this flipantly or being ignorant to what you guys do and do right… but 3 years down the line with a grenadier running activasol inks
and getting poor regular paid for maintenance service via b&p, my machine is still in top notch form and any issues have been very silly things like a split damper at a couple of quid here and there, and our machine does run allot of work. in fact we have been on a bulk ink system for about a year now and wouldn’t go back.

my honest opinion on any horror stories on converted solvent machines is that either the sign maker has a:

    "one off iffy/faulty conversion"
    or
the machine is "NOT" kept/run in a clean environment
    or
the machine is not regularly cleaned by its operator.
    or
the machine has been left idle too long so the ink has solidified.
    or
    all of the above… :lol1: :lol1:

The AJ-1000 uses 1 litre cartridges and is a 6 colour machine

I have used bulk ink system for about two and half years, had a few minor issues, ITL running out of Magenta, but other than that it has saved us a fortune.
I currently use refillable cartridges so no expense paid for a system and I pay £62 for a litre.

I Don’t understand this need for cartridges. My Encad had refillable ink wells, as does my DGI machine. It used to frustrate when the printer used beep for an empty cartridge, and when you took it out there was still quite a bit of ink in there.

I don’t believe there has been that much colour difference, but then again I used ECOSOL not ECOSOL MAX.

To me It makes so much sense to go bulk ink system.

    Cheers Stephen

Damn right! Been there, done it and posted in this forum! I’ve had no faults due to ink since going to EcoSol Max. My Cadet was troublesome before that needing regular head changes etc and I agree with Rob’s sentiment about B & P service too.

I am also looking for a supplier of these inks. I have been told about a company called solutions 2. There is also a company about 10 miles from me called granthams who sell them.
