Dave, I wouldn’t really call it a treatment it’s just a certain type of rubber that takes the dried glue residue off with a bit of elbow grease! If you speak with your laminate suppliers i’m sure they will be able to help.

Hi Hugh
You will be able to get a roller rubber block from most laminate suppliers. You basically rub the block on the rollers across the dried glue residue. After this I cover the rollers in mount film with the backing still on, let them spin a few times against each other then remove it taking all the sh1te with it. This is a generally good practice to do every couple of weeks to get rid of dust etc.

Hi Hugh
I’ve been using this product for years mainly onto exhibition & office walls with no problems whatsoever. I found that it could be removed quite easily as well it also cut & weeded like a dream. You must have a bad roll??

I use WW300 from APS for direct to wall vinyl graphics. Sticks like proverbial to the blanket. Fit using the hinge method centre to top then bottom. This way you have less chance of the print running off. It does however remove the painted surface beneath when coming to replace it.

Amari’s do it

I think a trial and error approach would be best. Try a smaller area dry to begin with and see how the material behaves.

Not being funny mate but a good eye for detail with a template to give you the general position however as many people would tell you here. Sometimes the eye is better than the tape measure & you can’t be taught that, it comes with experience!

Why will using a good template have issues?

MemberJune 27, 2012 at 10:18 pm in reply to: 3D acrylic letters on vinyl surface : problemWhat makes you think ‘industrial’ tape will work? Surely what was supplied with your lettering should have been enough to hold your work in place! VHB clear gel can fail in
Certain circumstances (frosty weather conditions) Never happened to me though!!Are the letters metal & heavy? As I’m thinking to much for d/s tape!
I’m thinking that you should have advised acrylic lettering in this instance as it is a lot
Less heavier and will stay in place with the correct adhesive. -

MemberJune 27, 2012 at 2:33 pm in reply to: 3D acrylic letters on vinyl surface : problemHow have the letters been made. Are they built ups or solid? How heavy are they? How much d/s to reverse did they have? What tape did they have on them?
Applying lettering to vinyl normally sticks like the proverbial sh1te to the blanket.
Could be a couple of things to consider…
As already mentioned – Heat.
Not saying it is but it could be down to the amount of pressure applied to the letter when fitted.
Wrong or not enough d/s tape to reverse of letters.Good luck!

Not really a problem mate. I would go over the lot then being very carefully cut back 2mm away from the edge with an anti-slip straight edge. Done it loads of times. Just don’t cut too deep!

Temperature this time of year tends to be an issue. Also if you have over stretched the Contravision whilst fitting this can cause problems as I have found that the material wants to sit naturally.

If I was applying 100m of app tape every day I would’ve bought a laminator ages ago.
A good tip is to leave a border on the vinyl when using a laminator to apply the tape this ensures that the vinyl remains even when feeding in & reduces creasing coming out.Kev
