  • Avery economy vinyl… is it bad or just me?

bought some of this for a temporary job on half a dozen forecourt vehicles, they’re going to a show for three days so the request was for a cheap, temporary / removable adhesive…

for a removable adhesive it seems very aggressive, ripping itself from the liner and tearing instead of releasing itself – bearing in mind it’s only laid onto it, not been applied.

it’s run off of my cutter repeatedly, something which hasn’t happened before or since if I put decent vinyl in there, and I’ve cut around 35m of ‘good’ vinyl around it with no problems. with what I’ve thrown away it woulda been cheaper to simply use a more expensive / reliable vinyl in the first place. grrr

    Hi Hugh

If you are referring to the Avery 500 Event Film it comes in gloss and matt.

The matt has a semi-permanent adhesive (removable) but the gloss has
    a permanent adhesive.

I used the matt recently for a customer who wanted to change motocross
race numbers back and forth when competing in different countries and he
reported back that it came off easily.

    Cheers

    Chris

    Hi Rob,

I think It was avery EF, economy film, I know it’s cheap but…bleugh!

came from RH and to be honest, the black had even begun to shrink on the edges, something usually only seen on ooold rolls.

I was sent two gloss rolls and one matt (white), ended up using oracle 551 in place of the matt white, the gloss does seem to have an agressive adhesive so it had better come off ok – I’#ll be having words iff I have to go back to remove it!

    thanks Chris too.

    Hi Hugh

I’ve been using this product for years mainly onto exhibition & office walls with no problems whatsoever. I found that it could be removed quite easily as well it also cut & weeded like a dream. You must have a bad roll??
