They do an insert system called Stax.i.
Have used this many times and they have a good range of depths. Just quoted on a job with a 150mm depth by 300mm long. They supply cut to size and the channel will take 3mm di-bond.Dave

Only got a 3M series 50 swatch.
What you need is a 3M supplier (William Smiths) and the codes you give are from the 100 series and the extra number is the colour code i.e. 14 orange.

Our local DIY shop Homebase do a similar thing and is located where they stock chains etc with all their fittings so have a look at your local DIY place.

quote Hugh Potter:ps, always amazes me what people have as vectors, i guess we’ve all got the stuff on discs but i’m on about the quirky little things, like this! i know who to ask if i need an iron now too!
I’ve even got a genie on a computer 😕
-
-
Thanks Steve….That sorted him out.
Yes Peter, they are not the brightest workers in the trade, which is why, when they have any problems, they come to me. They have a new computer with the latest signlab and a brand new Mimaki that they are using for everything, including speed limit signs. When I pointed out that they will fade a lot quicker than cut vinyl, their attitude is "well, we will have to remake them again – it’ll keep us in work" 🙄
As I have said, I do a lot of work for them so am happy to help them out, much the same way I try, where I can, to help out on these boards as well 🙂
-
Cheers Steve!
I have phoned the chap who uses this software and explained to him but it’s like wading through mud to get him to understand. If you could be more specific in exactly what to do when he has a O on screen, step by step, that would be great. He does my head in but we do a lot of work for them so have to look after them where we can 😉 -
I take it that they were put on wet and if so, not all the water was removed 🙁
-
I would drill some holes in the rear of the plaque at about 45 degrees (upwards) and adhere stainless steel rods into them leaving them protruding say 75mm.
You them drill the wall you are fixing to at 45 degrees downwards and fill with the same adhesive then lower the plaque onto the wall.
Make all holes a little larger than the rods used so you can get plenty of adhesive around them. I have fitted three like this and have never had a problem. One has been in place some 12 years now and that weighed in at about 60kgs
Can’t remember the adhesive I used but got it from a local builders supplies but I do know City Electrical Factors do an adhesive for fixing plastics, metals etc to stone
Hope this helps.
By the way, no fixings then show so it could be arrested for having no visible means of support :lol1:Dave

MemberFebruary 20, 2010 at 8:59 am in reply to: Matt or Satin Acrylic sheets needed (black)Perspex do a "secret acrylic" in a matt black but needs black vinyl on the rear to stop you seeing light through.
If you go into any NatWest Bank branch, you will see over the cashiers position, a matt black panel. If the till is in use, you can see the text "Cashier" illuminated in white. This is done by reverse cutting black vinyl with the letters weeded out to let the light through.
Because of this, the acrylic is very expensive. If you are only after a small piece, PM me.Dave

OOoops….double post 😀

That’s the ones I was thinking of 😀
-
Garden centres!!!! they have rubber straps for fixing trees to posts!
EDIT
-
Just had a thought (yes..it hurt) try a rubber stamp manufacturer.
They should be able to cure some natural rubber to the dimensions you asked for. I kmow this because I used to be employed by NatWest and used to make all their rubber stamps. The rubber is cured on a vulcaniser so rails could be used leave space for the finished article. -
Didn’t Titanic have some stock…i’m sure they had a band on ship ….i’ll get me coat 😳

Worth asking them 😕 -
