quote Jason Xuereb:Just wanted to let you guys know about a PC I built over Christmas. It munches through all our graphic work.
Intel Core i7-920
2 x OCZ Vertex Series 60GB 2.5″ SSD SATA 3Gbs
Corsair DDR3 12GB PC-12800/1600 (6x XMS3 2GB) HX3X12G1600C9 Ram
Asus P6T-SE Intel Mainboard – 6x DDR3 / 6x Sata Raid / 1 x IDE / Gigabit Lan / LGA 1366
Asus ATI EAH5750-2DIS-1GD5 RADEON 5750, 1G, DDR5, PCIE2.0, 2xDVI, HDCP, HDMI, DX11, ATX, 128bit
Antec Sonata III 500 – Black Super Quiet ATX Tower Case (500W)
Samsung 24″ 2443BW+ BLACK LCD – 5MS / WUXGA 1920X1200 / D-SUB / DVI
Windws 7 Professional OEM
LG DVD BurnerThe key features are the SSD in Raid 0 and the amount of ram in triple channel. This thing flies. Also redundancy doesn’t matter. All our work is stored on a network. All our email is on cloud computing. Our machines just run software and local files were editing on.
quote Dave Rowland:Nice JasonWhen I looked at SSD before, I was put off with the writing times as its slow and reading was as lightening, this was months back.
Are you storing to local drive at all?
What software are you running? my worry was with corel draw it would not use quad core and just use the single core unlike Adobe.
The cloud, is this using something like an Exchange email provider?
I have a 26GB exchange server, yikes!WOT! 😮 🙄 (spin)

I do charge for the service of applying for permission, even though it may be refused. I feel that this gives a good service from the trade.
-
quote Phill:All you can do is act upon your clients instructions – it’s not your problem 😕
I disagree!
I do think that we, as sign "professionals" should inform our clients as to their need for planning permission. I would rather do that than fit a sign at a thousand pounds and then being told the council has said it has to come down. Bad for the sign company and bad for the trade as well 🙄

correx not foamex and we use two 50mm x 50mm rails to wall.

quote James Martin:I’m thinking something with a rebate to cover the edges of the diabond.
Put a Di-Bond tray instead. Will look good and then the edges won’t show.

Black Gloss Di-Bond may be better. Just screw to the wall.
Bear in mind most acrylics contract and expand some 10mm per metre so make sure the fixing holes are elongated to allow for this.

Your contract is with the shop/unit owner, not the insurance company. Just get them to pay you as normal and it’s for them to get the money off the insurance company.

I don’t know if anyone is interested in this system so I thought I would make a couple of things clear about this company.
1. Their standard quotation time is three days, no matter how simple the the enquiry (I was told snottily).
2. They do not give trade discount or trade prices as they only deal with end users (I was told by email – that read snottily).
At this point, I need a smiley with a simple raised middle finger if possible please 👿
