    Chris,
    i will be keeping the 600 for now, I’m just learning the FX but i think the biggest thing to try and get my head around is Omega software. I’ve lost some hair already trying to print graphtec type 2 reg marks instead of the std Gerber ones.
    Still haven’t managed to find where to change the dam thing??

    Thanks for your reply,
    I thought that would be the case but wanted to check as I’ve a lot of work coming up and wanted to know as much as possible before I jumped in and removed my old thermal print setup.

    Truly shocking and just shows you how insignificant mankind is. I was out in Japan on business in November and we had a quake then, that was frightening enough whilst in a building.
    The loss of life is very hard to comprehend, I’ve spoken to my Japanese friends out there and they say the situation is very bad on the ground as most of them are staying at home because the transport system has been effected badly and they can’t get to work. One thing they are excellent at is pulling together and helping each other in times of great need…..a truly amazing country and such remarkable people.

    God bless them all,

    Going back to the refill question can anyone recommend or know if the Roland White refill is still available to buy. I have the after market refills but i don’t get good results at all with them, The only ones i haven’t tried are the genuine Roland ones.

    The Flexistarter 8 (opps 10 now) from USA on the well known auction site comes with the dongle and all the drivers for most if not all cutters. I bought as an add on for a specific job a while ago. Just remember you might have to pay the duty on it as well as the delivery to the UK.

    Yes i was using IE8…….must switch i think??
    It was genuine enough and was a right pain to remove. Probably came from an advert banner on eBay trying to direct automatically to another site where the malware/ virus was. Mcafee site advisor went red and before i knew what was going off it was on my PC…….all automatically whilst on EBay.

    Thanks Jason,
    I’m sure once you get your head around the menu structure and settings of the FC8000 it should be fine and better than the CE3000, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with my CE3000.. i just need the accuracy that comes with the added die cut feature.

    Thanks Jason for the speedy answer, i imagine it will be the same in Corel using different layers etc.
    So does it use the std cutting blade holder (as used for vinyl cutting) but in a different position or a different tool in a different position to die cut or pounce cut?
    Sorry for all the questions but I’ve not purchased the machine yet and can’t understand the user guide in places to be sure.

    Without sounding dumb, but how easy is it to pounce cut (or die cut as its known i think) on this machine (FC8000), do you have to have a seperate cut layer in corel for the cut layer and use the pounce tool in a different position. I will be using Corel with the cutting master 2 plug in.
    I don’t normally contour cut even with my CE3000 with the OPOS because i find it not accurate enough especially on small decals but I’m thinking of upgrading to the FC8000 because the accuracy??

    Lucy,
    All the info you need are from the details Gill referred to on your other post.

    As said by others you will need to download and install Cutting Master 2.
    The lastest version is here,

    http://www.graphtecamerica.com/support/

    Chose Craft ROBO Pro / CE5000-40 and Cutting Master 2 v 1.80 will come up for download.

    This is the plugin for Coreldraw that will allow it to cut directly from it to your plotter.

    December 24, 2010 at 12:29 pm in reply to: Why is the print head not picking up cartidge pc600 problem?

    We’ll i thought i would post back just in case it might help others in the future, I’ve been through the machine but couldn’t find anything unusual, there’s no play in the front cover at all and no sensor’s. The only thing that the manual says to check is the reflective panel on the front cover. After checking it the panel looked a little dull so i polished it back to make it shiny and so far so good, it must be used as a datum point for the Y movement so the carriage knows where it is in relation to the cartridge position. The sensor on the head (same one that reads the bar-codes on the carts) passes over this reflective panel (a little bit of aluminum).
    Hopefully it will last as there’s nothing else that it can be (apart from the machine not saving the settings after alignment)

    Thanks Chris,

    It will be something silly as it doesn’t get heavy use, The only thing that springs to mind is the reflective panel, I’ll spend a day on the machine tomorrow to try and track the offending part down. I’m pretty sure that once aligned the machine stays aligned on the same power up, it’s only after the machine is turned off that the problem comes back.
    That said though the problem doesn’t seem to come straight back after it’s turned on, it’s gradual and over a little time that the alignment becomes an issue.

    Well i seem to have a little problem that’s started to become more frequent on my PC-600. I’m finding that i have to realign the head carriage more often so it picks up the cartridge. It seems to run out about 3mm to 4mm. Once realigned and the settings are saved it works fine for a while then the same thing starts again.
    Is there any area that i should be looking at in the machine as maybe the problem is mechanical that’s throwing the carriage out. I’ll start to take it apart just to see if there’s anything obvious but in the mean time maybe someone else has had this issue and resolved it?

    Yes interesting indeed,
    if anyone cannot be appalled by that footage of the innocent slaughter of humans then there’s no hope for them. This is why the truth must come out whatever the consequence’s will be, the problem in my opinion may lie on how much or what is released.
    Just try and put yourself in that position if it was you and your family in that van, even if you survived that would be enough to send you on a warpath against the perpetrators for the rest of your life….i know it would me!
    Empathy is the human safety net and once you remove that by social conditioning then there are no boundarys. Just look at the TV and computer games now and compare that in real life…. there isn’t much difference is there.
    It will only get worse as drones are now used that can fire weapons with operators miles away looking at screens just like the games. How long will it be before these are turned against you or I in the future.
    As the saying goes
    "One mans terrorist is other mans freedom fighter"

    it’s all down to individual opinion.

    Slightly off topic a little but maybe if we had politicians in power like Nigel Farage who don’t seem to worry about speaking their mind, maybe just maybe the people might start believing that the politicians put the peoples interest first. We live in hope but that’s always tomorrow and never today!!

    Incidentally Nigel Farage is known to have these outbursts in Brussels especially against Herman Van Rompuy, he was in a plane crash in May 2010 on the last day of campaigning on the UK general election in which he and the pilot survived. It was recently reported that the pilot has been charged with trying to kill him, now this latest outburst in Brussels…. he must be feeling very brave??

    In my opinion Wikileaks are just the vehicle in supplying the hidden information to the world. There is a reason for everything and genuine people that are privy to this info at source know that what goes on behind the scenes is not humane or right and needs to be told.
    You are not told by the biased media the true picture. Silencing Wikileaks will only create more anger on the internet as we are already seeing with these so called support groups hacking sites.
    Genuine people are out in support for Julian Assange even though they have never met him or know much about him. They are there because they are informed and realise that this is about more that a few secrets getting out into the public domain.
    This fight is more about keeping the internet and free speech from being censored by the governments as they already talk about kill switches on sites or the entire web in times of crisis, these are the real dangerous people and not Wikileaks or other messengers.

    The governments know that an informed population is a dangerous one and that is the real reason they try and keep all this kind of info locked up under the “National Security” banner is to keep them safe from us and not us safe from so called terrorism.

    We are all being conditioned into what to think, do and believe in that what the governments do or the war’s that they enter in are all done to make the world a safer place for the future. Well I’m sorry I don’t see a safe world out there at all at the moment at all.
    This info must come out to keep our governments in check and work in our best interests and not there’s.
    Some will and have said that release of this information will cost lives, we’ll I believe we would have saved a lot more lives if we weren’t in these illegal wars or participated in state sponsored terrorism to start with.
    I am still glad we have a chance to have different opinions as reflected throughout this thread and long may it continue…..

    Peter, the John Lennon “Imagine” lyrics are spot on but somehow I’m not sure we’ll ever live in that kind of world because of the corrupt governments we have, yes I know it’s always been like this but it still doesn’t make it right.

    George Orwell once said:
    During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

    I’ve looked at the Kapa range of foams but didn’t get a data sheet with it and didn’t want to take the risk if it contained PVC.
    Polyurethane should be OK so i might go down that route, trouble is if the supplier gives me PVC foam board by mistake i want to know if they look or feel different to one another if you see what i mean so i know what I’m looking at.
    I’ll try and get sample of each to compare but just wanted to know if anyone had first hand experience with laser cutting this stuff.

    I recently removed a Trojan from my friends PC, it might have been a coincidence but she said that she had a call from a PC repair centre saying that her PC has been sending out error messages to their system and they would help her to remove any virus’s etc that might be on the system. I told her that there’s no way that would happen (especially with the system she had in place). When the chap rang back again with the cost of his services to remove this she asked for all of his details and the company he worked for and funnily enough he put the phone down.
    You can never be to careful nowadays with PC’s but i suppose a little common sense would help even if you don’t understand PC talk.

    Anyway getting back to the topic, ComboFix (from Bleeping computer)should fix it but only use it after you disable Mcafee for a short while until it works it’s magic.

    Before you buy any new virus software there’s a few more things to try. If you go to
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/
    they should be able to help you.

    Looks like you have a browser Hijacker installed that’s redirecting you all over.
    I find stuff like this has to be removed with a few programs as it’s probably set to run in the registry every time you start up and can’t be deleted by just removing a file etc.

    I’ve also had the Windows security centre replaced by Antispyware centre, this looks and runs identical to the genuine windows version but is Malware and comes up with all sorts of rubbish.

    Everyone has their own opinions on which software to use but you already have the nasty on the system and chances are most virus scanners/ programs will not be able to remove it.
    There’s only a few that in my experience that might help.

    Malwarebytes is the first one and it will run in safe mode if required.
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

    Then HijackThis
    This will produce a log of you system and show you the program/ or registry entry that’s redirecting you. This will be a long list that you will probably struggle to understand but the kind people on Bleeping Computer will need to see this log in order to help you (if you choose to receive their help) that is.
    http://www.combofix.org/hijackthis.php

    Spybot is another program that you should have running as this will hopefully stop the software getting on the system in the first place that’s redirecting your searches on the net.
    http://www.combofix.org/spybot.php

    If it’s still there after the above then this last one will probably remove it for good.
    ComboFix is a program that will run and remove any issues, it scans very deep into the system, is powerful and will take a while to run and scan. You will need to disable mcafee or any other virus scanners that you have running before you run the program as it will be identified as a virus and be removed before you get a chance to run the program. (By the nature of how this program works it will flag up as a virus, do not worry this is a false positive and is not a virus)

    Only download ComboFix from Bleeping Computer or Forospyware, not anywhere else.
    And follow instructions on the page.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofi … e-combofix

    Once your system is clean, check your system restore settings and if it’s monitoring (ON) then turn it off momentary as this will clear all previous restore points (so you don’t re introduce the malware back on to your system), once off then you can turn it back on and create a fresh restore point (with a clean system).

    If you are printing in corel draw you must use the userinks pallette for the spot colours or create your own with the correct colour values below otherwise it will print in CMYK.
    The carts must have the correct barcodes on and they must be the PC-60 as the PC-600 uses different codes.

    Colour palette values

    Red = 255-0-0
    Green = 0-255-0
    Blue = 0-0-128
    Cyan = 0-255-255
    Magenta = 255-0-255
    Yellow = 255-255-0
    Orange = 255-128-0
    Black = 0-0-0
    White = 255-255-255
    Gold = 128-128-0
    Silver = 128-128-128

    to print in these colours you need to select from process cartridge
    C,M,Y,K – CR-MR Resin from drop down list
    and then go to special and select the colour cartridge required.

    Then UCR = Spot colour.
    Make sure that all colour cartridges have the correct barcode labels on.

    Cartridge codes for the PC-60 are

    Cyan = 15
    Magenta = 14
    Yellow = 13
    Black = 12

    Spot colours

    Black = 12
    Red = 21
    Blue = 22
    Green 23
    Orange = 20
    White = 10
    Met Gold = 8
    Met Silver = 11

    Hope this helps,

    Jill,
    Roll 1 setting is the way it measures the vinyl before cutting (measuring the width between rollers only) and not the length. Roll 2 i think measures both width and length (but not sure as i don’t really use this setting).

    If you have replaced the holder back to a blue one then the tool setting must be on 09U and a 45 deg blade fitted

    The red holder is mainly used with a 60 deg blade and i think the 15? setting on the plotter for cutting reflective vinyl or material up to 1mm thick.

    Quality setting can be on 2

    Blade <> Blade Holder <> Description
    CB09UA <> Blue <> 0.9mm Chamfered blade for vinyl & flock
    CB15U <> Red <> 1.5mm blade for heavy vinyl
    CB15U-K30 <> Red <> 1.5mm blade for sandblast rubber, card & reflective vinyl
    CB15U-SP <> Green <> 1.5mm blade for thick card, thick rubber & film
    CB15UA <> Red <> 1.5mm blade for thin recycled card
    CB15UA-K30 <>Red <> 1.5mm blade for thicker recycled card
    CB15UB <> Red <> 1.5mm blade for detailed cutting in thin card
    CB30-UC-1 <> Black <> 3.0mm blade for cutting thick materials

    Jill,
    Assuming your design is fine as mentioned previously,
    If you check the screen on the plotter it should say which tool is set, as you’ve used the pen plotter maybe you’ve set it as pen and not changed it back to 09U (if using the blue blade holder) that is. I’ve forgotten to change back to 09U in the past with the same errors that you’re experiencing.
    17 force is still OK for a blade as i normally range from 14 (new blade) to 18-19 for a worn blade although i normally chip & damage the blade before needing that much force for std cast vinyl.

    Hope this helps.

    Well I’m surprised they don’t seem to have found a buyer for the whole lot at around 10 mil, that i think includes the I.P and the A1GP names and "World Cup Of Motorsport" theme.
    Was involved with the first 3 years of the Lola/ Zytek combination before the switch to Ferrari. Most of the original Lola cars and Zytek engines are being used in AutoGP after a few little cosmetic changes to the bodywork, i wouldn’t be supprised if AutoGP don’t buy the remaining Lola chassis.
    As for the Ferrari engines you would still need to talk to Ferrari or find a engine builder to rebuild and service them for you and that wouldn’t be cheap!!

    Another thing to look for is your AntiVirus software (if your using it that is)??.
    I noticed on first install of cutting master (doesn’t matter which version) my McAfee asked for permission to run the program. Cutting master is essentially a macro so maybe it’s being stopped without your choice.
    I’ve used all versions of Cutting Master 2 with Corel up to x4 now with no problems other than when leaving cutting master open all day while cutting big jobs it sometimes disconnects.

    To reduce the wasted area around the design you could also draw a rectangle around the design and then get cutting master to convert that to reg marks. I couldn’t get type 2 to be recognised so i had to use type 1 (even with the mode switched on the plotter)!
    Normally you should allow 25mm ish to the edge of the paper as well.

    Jeremy,
    I’ve found the metallic silver from print one or the "E" auction site prints really well on all types of vinyl.
    The mirror silver type sometimes is patchy and a little flakey on the edges but most of the time is prints perfect on white vinyl. I print on a variety of vinyl’s mainly white but also alot on chrome/ polyester type vinyl with good results. As mentioned before the only colour I’ve really had trouble with is white but i think this is down to the ribbon refill rather than the vinyl or head temp?
    Also if your problem is snapping ribbons then it could be other issues other than temperature of the head, there’s a few other suggestions i think that’s listed in the service manual regarding snapping ribbons.

    I’ve only had issues towards the last 10 or so metres on the ribbon with creasing, also I haven’t been able to print a good white….ever!
    One thing you can try is

    On Roland PC-600 you can change the Print Head Temp from the front Control Panel.
    You can set Temp in only 2 steps, a high and a low one.

    To regulate temp is useful when you cannot print with some covering colours because of the low ambient temp or new print head.
    You also can solve the braking ribbon problem by lower the temp.
    To operate more significant Temp changes is necessary to use TEIOUT program and the correct file for your head.

    Instructions
    To set to the HIGH step:

    Turn off the plotter by control panel button

    Press together “HEAD CLEANING”+”CURSOR UP”+”POWER ON BUTTON” for a little while and release immediately all 3 buttons. The plotter has not to turn on and you have to ear a “BIP”. Now the Temp is set to high step

    To set to the LOW step:

    Turn off the plotter by control panel button;
    Press together “HEAD CLEANING”+”CURSOR DOWN”+”POWER ON
    BUTTON” for a little while and release immediately all 3 buttons. The plotter has not to turn on and you have to ear a “BIP”. Now the Temp is set to low step.

    I also have the ribbon saver switched off as I found that snapped ribbons in white space with all the stop/ starting.

    Hope this helps,

    Alex.

    Tracey,
    It depends alot on the type of fleece material etc to what results you’ll get from lasering. I lasered fleece and also microfibre cloth with reasonable results. The biggest problem is keeping it flat and not to choose a deep pile fleece. What you’re really aiming for is a hot stamp effect on the fleece when it’s done correctly.
    The best bet if you want to go down that route is for someone to do a test piece for you with your material to see if it produces the results you are after from lasering before you invest in a machine, they are quite costly to buy only to find out it’s not right.
    Hope this helps

Many planned attacks have been avoided, and this may have happened just by one of these jobsworths taking someones details.

    To be honest i don’t believe the risk is greater now due to …."Terrorism" now than when the IRA was in full swing or even the Cold war. The only difference is the technology and information available to people.

    There’s always two sides to every story and although you can see the recording for yourself i can’t help thinking anger against the CPO and police. I do believe however that maybe a different attitude could have been taken towards the CPO that might have resulted in a different outcome & if it was me i would have probably been very nice to the lady CPO :lol1: :lol1: ………but i wasn’t there.

    I do remember when i was a lad and being stopped by the police for little issues 😮 😮 😮 a good attitude helped no end.

    I would imagine until you are on the receiving end (positive or negative outcome) your views will be effected one way or the other. This goes for most issues i believe.

    But if you watch the other one with the Italian art student you can’t help thinking that the police over reacted on that one.
    It is obviously an issue as a while back 2000-3000 photographers protested down London against the Police and their frequent use of Section 44 against them. 😮

    Ben,
    Fibreglass bodywork you won’t have a problem with at all even with the cheapest vinyl, the problem lies with the plastic molded stuff on the Short circuit karts. When i raced mine i had to use a blow torch to more or less melt the vinyl in to the plastic to get it to stick, this was Ok for temporary stuff as it ended up getting ripped off anyway during contact while racing!!

    Ben,
    If the bodywork is Long Circuit (mainly fibreglass) then normal vinyl should be OK as it is regarded similar to vehicle bodywork, if the kart bodywork is short circuit (mainly molded plastic) then you might find it difficult to adhere to as the release agent used on the plastic makes it feel a little greasy and normal vinyl has a tough time in sticking to it.
    If you can use the motorcross type printed vinyl and adhesive that’s laminated then that should be fine on plastic bodywork as most graphic kits for karts are now done using this method.

    I suppose the cheapest option is probably to buy CorelDraw 8 and just use OCR Trace, but that isn’t perfect either.

    i would love to have it back in as it is a very usefull addition to print vinyl. It used to be on Corel 8 i believe as OCR Trace.
    Failing that does anyone know if there’s any standalone programs that can produce this effect from cut vinyl.

    If you want real change then vote outside the main three parties, The main three take advice from the same or similar thinktank groups so that’s”s why nothing ever changes.
    The words "Change" and also "Hope" are always tomorrow…..never today and nearly always used in campaigns. Look at Obama over the water, his campaign revolved around "Change we can believe in", so far he’s seemed to go against every promise made.
    Vote outside the main three, it’s the only way they will ever listen to the public and "GET IT" when the minority parties gain ground on them.

    Lucy,
    With a new blade and on normal vinyl 60-80mic then it should cut to the backing on 14-16 easy. If you’re over 20 on this vinyl then either the blade is chipped or blunt!! I used 20-21 on reflective maximum.

    Check that quality setting is 1 and program 09U (if your using the std blue holder.

    Other than that maybe when you had it on 26 it cut through the vinyl and paper and damaged the blade and cutting strip.

    If you already use Corel for your designs then download Cutting Master 2 Plug In for CorelDraw,

    For Windows: Cutting Master 2 version 1.60 (67.8MB)

    found under…

    http://www.craftrobostore.com/craftrobodownloads.html

    (towards bottom of page) Craft ROBO Pro Downloads

    This will add the plug in to CorelDraw under the launcher rocket icon, you can then cut directly to the Graphtec CE5000.

    There used to be a link on the Graphtec USA site for all the Cutting Master 2 versions but i can’t seem to find them now, I’m using the Robo one without any problems.

I agree that we should look after the planet and what we throw away but you would of thought that if climate change was really that important to the powers in charge and we were really down to our last years on this planet, you would of thought that taxing everyone to try and stop it would be the last thing on their priority list…. Emma,
    Sorry it might have been easier said than done just like this quick video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgwKh5NrAa4

    plus lots more on there if you search for "layering vinyl"

    I find the easiest way is that of the video but the biggest I’ve layered is up to 500mm square with 3-4 colours (safety signs etc). If i was layering the text and size as you suggested then i would probably hinge and cut up between the text making smaller manageable sections to separate the text width of 100cm.
    At least when the top layer is offset off the backing sheet and a little is exposed its alot easier to move around and line up before you commit to sticking the whole thing down.
    I found a little practice will do wonders.

    To be honest Shane from what I’ve heard yesterday and today would suggest they will not make it in time. It’s all very tight even if all the bills were paid on time, but you never know with A1GP and Tony Texeira. If the cars have indeed sat around impounded (as reported) since the last race at Brands in May there would be alot of problems from that alone to overcome even before you start to modify the cars to make them eligible for the race??
    We’ll just have to wait and see, i wont be going so if it’s on I’ll watch it on TV. 😕

    I find it easier layering up dry. I’ve tried the reg mark method but still had wandering over 1m, this could have been down to the way i was doing it though. I now find it alot easier if i completely pull the graphic off the release paper and stick it back down on to the paper with a offset of 5mm ish uncovered edge, i then slide the graphic over the layer i need it to go on and move and align it, when I’m completely happy with the position i press down on the uncovered edge of the top layer and use that as a hinge to squeegee the rest down. Near perfect results every time without bubbles.
    Hope this makes sense,

    I dont know if it it’s my mind playing tricks again 🙄 🙄 but i didn’t see anything hit, just some people clapping and the news people reporting that it was a success!
    Please call me cynical but i think i’m starting to believe everything I’m told in the mainstream news. 😮 😮

    good accommodation will be hard to get if you haven’t got something arranged Alex. Most of the motel/hotel/rental is booked out a year in advance.

    I can quite imagine, The championship organisers deal with the bookings so that shouldn’t be an issue, but if we go i’ll be going on personal level and just maybe a little business if i get time, i would love to see the V8s in action and talk to a few teams in the process.
    If not i’ll be watching it on TV as usual over here.:)

    Shane,
    Do you know if it’s having an impact in the setup and preparation of the upcoming Nikon SuperGP in Surfers Paradise on October 22-25 ??

    It sometimes amazes me what go’s off behind the scenes in the paddocks.
    When there’s so much money involved and all the back handers that go off it’s no surprise!
    But until the hearing on Monday there’s two sides to the story but you can’t help thinking that because Renault are not going to dispute it leads me to believe that they are admitting it…..who knows??
    Someone always said to me when scandal broke out is to Follow the Money??

    Barcode 15 is Cyan on the PC-60 labels only.
    Its 35R on the PC600 labels

    Fuji antisnap technology is what we are told the properties of these ribbons are. Don’t know more than that, other that they are the closest I’ve used to the original Roland ribbons. The only colour i find issues with is the white refill as it’s not at opaque as i need and is sometimes patchy.

    Fabrice,
    If you stick with the refills with the Fuji Antisnap technology then you shouldn’t have a problem with snapping.
    They can be found here

    http://www.bladesandrefilldepot.co.uk/index.php

    or on Ebay
    PC60-PC600 are the same refills.
    There’s also a temp setting that you can alter on the head (low or high) if i remember if you are still getting problems. Turn off the ribbon saving feature as well as that’s one thing i found in the past for me that caused snapping.
    If you have the service manual then that will help you with all the settings.

    September 2, 2009 at 9:04 pm in reply to: PC 600 – How do I print spot colours?

    Hi Jason,
    You can either use the default userinks.cpl palette in corel or create a new palette with the following values.

    Colour pallete settings for PC60 / PC600 and Corel Draw

    All need to be in this order and in RGB ONLY as the driver will only recognise these values for each colour.

    Red = 255-0-0
    Green = 0-255-0
    Blue = 0-0-128
    Cyan = 0-255-255
    Magenta = 255-0-255
    Yellow = 255-255-0
    Orange = 255-128-0
    Black = 0-0-0
    White = 255-255-255
    Gold = 128-128-0
    Silver = 128-128-128

    to print in these colours you need to select from process cartridge
    Y,M,C,K CR-MR Resin from drop down list
    and then go to special and select the colour cartridge required.

    Then UCR = Spot colour.
    Make sure that all colour cartridges have the correct barcode labels on.

    Alex.
