MemberNovember 13, 2018 at 8:23 am in reply to: Clear print v Static cling. views and opinions on a solution please?I deal with loads of cafes and tend to agree with the others here, clear is not a great idea nor static cling as kids will peal that anyway, if my clients want the menu to be viewed outside I advise a separate menu printed outside ( onto perspex etc) then I do prices so they can change. I always advise clients to put larger bullet points to windows or something like ice cream with larger clear printed pictures so can be seen further away as they really want to use this large area to attract people from further away to draw them in not to come up to window and start reading a menu that will block someone’s view while they are eating etc. Hope this helps good luck.

We use it never have a problem and you can have multiple Roland cutters plugged into your Mac and choose which lettering etc you want each cutter to cut, hope this helps,

Agree with above and wouldn’t be afraid of charging high for this. I do work for clients where I know what the graphic designers charge and a lot of the time it is more than we are charging to print and if they want an all singing all dancing design they have to pay for it lol, good luck with it,

MemberSeptember 6, 2018 at 10:09 pm in reply to: Considering a second printer, views please?Hi Matthew sorry i ment the gx500, i have the gx640 as well as we own a 64in ej640, i kept both thinking i could cut on both or use one a stand alone cutter and the other as a print cut but majority of my work is print cut so we seldom use the gx500 now, i literally took pics the other day to put up for sale on that well known auction site lol, not sure if id need to put up in equipment section buy/sell (rob if you could let me know if ok tia) its only ever spent its life in a clean office and not been work hard as when it was only cutter we had the print/cut machine.

MemberSeptember 6, 2018 at 9:05 pm in reply to: Considering a second printer, views please?hi Mathew, we are looking at putting our 54inch gx540 up for sale if your interested? its £1600. we used to run a print/cut roland then changed over to a ej640 with seperate cutter and have never looked back, we do alot of print cut with lamination so used to always have to wait for print jobs to finish before cutting them all, now by the time the next print job has finished we have weeding and packed the previous jobs, its halved our time for jobs,

great stuff thanks phil

MemberJuly 1, 2018 at 9:08 pm in reply to: Heat press printer advice and material pleaseCheers Kev and david, reason I need to heat press is designs on each one are bespoke so they pick what they want on there hoodie at events etc, I was looking at material on the roll as I can then print multiples of the same design and cut them out, have seen it done and was reverse printed on paper and just heat pressed on and ready in minutes, so wanted to go down same route.

Usually it would cut in the sequence that the file has been drawn in when in illustrator I think, I tested this a few urs ago and found that the order I added it to the artwork was the order it cut in, hope this helps

Hi Dave what do u want for Harlowsigns ?
-
I use 1600mm print media as we have the ej640 but have my laminate cut down to 1580mm by supplier which saves a lot of time as I never have to trim the edges before contour cutting. Love the extra width as we used to run 1370 but now find can print large panels in one hit.

MemberDecember 20, 2017 at 9:40 am in reply to: Roland Print Head problem, help and advice needed please?Hi Stafford thanks it’s a EJ640, I printed a cmyk price on high quality backlit so was 32 pass just after and solved it and it just went away ? But I have not clue what it was ?, something I noticed when cleaning heads etc on maintenance mode was that the side gaurd and the strip just before the bed finishes towards where the head sits was covered in ink so it was like it had printed on the metal guard and the printer bed? Hope this helps ps I’ve added a new test print this morning and has 2 nozzles missing on the magenta which is giving me slight banding with reds and pinks, i can’t get rid of them with powerful cleans etc i there a better way to free up these nozzles? tia
