Sign & Digital UK – exhibition – Are you going?
Posted by Robert Lambie on March 4, 2018 at 11:36 pmAs we are already in March and April is just around the corner, i thought I would start our annual topic around this time of year discussing Sign & Digital UK, our longest established. highest attended event within our industry for the past 30 years.
As most regulars and old school members of uksignboards.com will know, we meet up each year at the show for a chat, few beers and more so, dinner and nights out on broad street… :smiles:
I will be travelling down to the show on day one, which takes me about 5 hours on the train, so my time on day one is limited. but I will be there all day day two and day three, where i hope to see something new, different, whatever…
If anyone plans going to the show, it would be good to meet up with you all for a chat or a few pints in Wetherspoons.
I have meetings throughout the morning, and the last one will end about 2pm if thats suitable for most?
If we are meeting up at a stand, we could meet up at the William Smiths stand?
or if preferred, we could meet at Wetherspoons?
The trouble with meeting at the bar, is its normally so busy around this time of day, in previous years when this was the case we often missed folk or they wondered back into the halls.Anyway, I am easy and will go with the flow.
So who else is going?
Are you staying over or attending one day? Please try keeping Sign & Digital threads to this one as it keeps all info from members in one place, rather than multiple posts running based on same. Thank you!
Sign & Digital UK

Hey Rob,
I’ll probably go up on the Wednesday again, not looking to buy anything but always good to see if there’s anything new and see old faces! -
I’ll be there all blimmin’ week!! Buildup, exhibiting and breakdown.
-
We will hopefully be going on the Wednesday trying to work which is best drive or train haha
this will be my first time attending to looking forward to it
cheers
-
I would drive each year, but took the train about 8 years ago and been doing that since. So much better… you can work, sleep, eat, drink and it’s no problem. The international station and airport is at the NEC too… so all good no matter what way.
There is also the ability to have a fee beers if your not driving too, which is a bonus! -
That’s it sold Rob haha train it is esp when beers are mentioned haha
-
Last year I went was 2015 so I’m def due to go this year, tossing between train or flying but most likely fly on the Wednesday.
Edit: just booked flights for Tuesday as they were about £50 cheaper than the Wednesday lol

Yes being able to have a few beers at the show does make the train or plane that bit more attractive. 😆
I think the Wednesday is always the busiest day. where as the third day is probably the best day for end of show deals.
-
I’m attending for the first time in 8 years [emoji3] just been too busy in recent years!
-
Ill be attending on the Thursday for about four hours. Couple of items to buy
-
I’m going on Tuesday – Should arrive about lunchtime and my flight back is at 7pm (so just a short visit but enough time to see around).
-
Hi all
any ideas how big the show is this year seems like the last few years it has been getting smaller and smallerDerek
-
-
Probably try and pop along on the Wednesday, I’m after a new printer to replace my BN20
-
Train booked will be there on the Thursday [WHITE SMILING FACE]

gutted, was really looking forward to a day out, just realised that it clashes with a long booked hospital appointment in London so I’ll not be up this year
Hope you all enjoy..

Having been here since Sunday lunchtime, I must say it actually feels bigger than recent years. Maybe it’s just just getting taller…?

Well after a few years not going coming up on Thursday with my daughter who seems to have caught the bug and wants a look around..

Yup, I took your advice on the best clinics and chose (coincidentally) the same clinic you used, I even got a discount when mentioning you by name 😆 😆

Just back from a flying visit today. Enjoyed the exhibition and learned a lot today. I’ll go back to work tomorrow fired up with enthusiasm for this great industry that we work in.
-
There today, looking forward to seeing what’s new. Hopefully see some of u guys there.

I visited yesterday and can’t say that anything impressed me over the last visit tbh.
I always like to go to the show (not every year) and see something that I think to myself “that’s smart” or “that’s really different” but nothing this year done that for me and I found the show was really small this year. It was a decent day out and good to chat some suppliers etc but I’m glad I never got too excited and it won’t atop me from planning to go next year.
Sign geer has some nice new things on their stand and William smiths stand just looked the best out them all.
As a side note, the commercial vehicle show is on in halls 3, 4 and 5. This was great and some of the stands that were being used by manufacturers were extremely well done so if you have time, pop in and see it. Plenty to see in there plus the top end van racking systems and nowhere near the prices we see advertised on the internet so massive savings to be had if you in the market.
-
Not going this year.
Not looking for any new machinery, last year we bought a new Graphtec, but I just felt there no buzz about the place.
A far cry from our first visit where it was like a whole new world, Ferrari being wrapped on the Hexis stand, machines churning out meters of print & boards, Zunds & CNC’s working away.
It felt huge, it was busy, it had a great vibe, it was genuinely interesting and exciting to see… the last few times we’ve been I feel robbed after paying £10+ to park my van, the Toll, and heaven forbid you buy something to eat there. :shake:
UKSB should organise some regional meet ups… at a pub or bar preferably
-
Might nip up there at the back end of the day if I can get away from the office, still kicking the tyres on a cnc
-
I am on the train down from scotland just now looking forward to it
-
As a supplier, I think it’s been great! We probably took more serious leads in the last 2 days than the last 2 entire sign shows. Happy day 3 everyone.
-
Went to show yesterday and thought it was definite improvement on last yr, spent all day there and enjoyed the day,
