Set your image in whatever application, corel, photoshop etc. without mirror, then click print, printer properties, click custom & this brings up advanced. Clickon advanced. Here you can check the box for flip horizontal, set the dpi etc. You can ok it & check with a print, or you can save the setting if the printer is dedcated to sublimation, like mine:-)

    Best wishes

    Hi Michel,
If it’s a new printer as you say, do the two Epson cartridges work together? If they do not, then given the Rotech problems, it’s a faulty printer, more than likely.

If they do work then there can’t be much wrong with the printer, cor blimey 😆 . Give Jayne a call at Listawood, she know’s what she is doing

    Hi Phil,
fingers crossed then, I tried the XP4099 on the mugs 7 could have cried, it was no good 😥 but absolutely brillian on the T’s & fabric mousemats.

You mean I should feed the kids at LEAST once a week????

    Hi Phil,
that’s the paper for hard surfaces, mugs etc, not so good on the T’s, what media setting are you printing on, should be inkjet photo quality. I use Epson photo quality inkjet paper for mugs & it’s excellent & dries instantly, with good natural blacks through photoshop & I print at 720 dpi with high speed on. For T’s & mats I use XP 4099 & the results are truly excellent, or so my customers tell me.

I don’t use a profile as I believe the Xpres profile is designed for use with Correll, not photoshop. The Xp4072a won’t give the best resuls on T’s

    Hope that might help?

I have the same set up as you Xpres on a 1290s & don’t really have any problems printing from photoshop without the profiles. What paper are you using for the mugs & T’s

Martin, might be a daft question but have you done a nozzle check print? That will tell you if a color, or 2, is missing

I’m using the Xpress ink on a 1290s & find it every bit as good as the Rotech I previously used in a C82.

Do you use the Xpres paper (I think I remember you do)

Re that link to Paypal, I don’t think you should believe all you read.

The red highlight regarding Chargebacks is untrue 😎

I’ve had a Paypal Merchant account for 3 years or so & just last week received a chargeback from a buyer in Australia. There was fraudulant activity on his Paypal account by someone else, he informed his bank who promptly instigated chargebacks on every transaction on his paypal account for August & September. MINE wasn’t fraudulant, but because of international Banking laws, I had to accept the chargeback & he subsequently repaid me. They have just introduced seller protection for UK/UK & UK/USA trades by the way

Enough now before I bore you (merchant rate with paypal is only 2.7%, what are you that accept cards direct charged??) & Finaly, Ebay own Paypal, so not british, more kind of American!

I alsoi take Nochex & Fastpay, both ok but note Fastpay are just introducing a scale of fees for their FREE service

All time favourite now is Led Zep, particular track ‘Dazed & Confused’ (describes me after a day at the PC) but I don’t remember them in the 70’s, guess my taste changed. Other favourites, Eric Clapton, saw him live with Cream in the late 60’s, Rolling Stones, saw them at the Marquee club in Wardour street also in the 60’s, wicked as they say now

Having daid that, I’m a little older now & my taste has refined 😆 , Slipknot, Metallica, Evinesence, Dido??

I bought the wrap on ebay as the Cactus wraps from the US were unavailable at the time, but they are available again & I will probably buy a quantity of them as they do a quantity discount.

The oven is actually a domestic worktop oven/grill with an element in the top & bottom so the heat is not so variable (top to bottom, as a larger oven.

press my mugs for 3 mins, so in teorey I get 5 mugs per 15 mins. While the first mug is cooking, all the other mugs can be taped up ready for a quick turn over.

    quote :

I figured that out this afternoon while sat in a coffee shop 🙂

Time to tape & clamp ? I didn’t time it but I reckon maybe a minute each or slightly less?

But (thinks) if I had 30 wraps, I could cook 15 (theory again) in each 15 minutes, cost of equipment similar

thanks for your imput, I’m trying to figure out why I would need 10 wraps to match the press output given that press times I’ve seen quoted are 3-4 minutes. I could be missing the point

The wrap was £20 on ebay by the way, or you can buy them direct from the company for 55Euros!!

15 minutes at 400F was what I gave them in a little worktop mini oven, but I must qualify the temperature. It took a couple of hours adjusting the oven thermostat to read 400 on an oven thermometer, the 1st one was the scrap mug, so I upped the temp on the thermometer to 425 & voila.
So when is 400 400 as my science teacher used to say 😆

I know this is quite a bit longer than a mugpress, but I wanted to test the market before investing in a press, & also, you can cook a batch in that 15 minute period, so maybe 5 at a time gets you down to similar times as useing a press

What’s your thoughts, I know you use a mug press, do you think the mugpress is the way to go?

My brain tells me the press must be quicker for one offs, but then the investment cost, the wrap way, is much lower.

    Hi Lorraine,
i’d be interested to hear how you get on with the bulk system.

I’ve considered it before, but quite a few people on the art printing forums report troubles with some of the systems.

I have got on well with the Xpres inks in the 1290s though. Good colour & seem to be getting the correct no. of prints out.

    Hi Martin,
thanks for the info on the plaques. Your printer has the all in one colour cartridge, like the 1290s The C82 has separate ones & they are small. If the C82 Rotech cartridges are empty after I’ve only done about 18 mousemats, must be something wrong somewhere.

My 1290S will print acres of art prints from one set of cartridges & I’m wondering if the fact that the cartridge is an all in one like yours has anything to do with it.

Express quote 70p an a4 transfer with the 1290S, & having done my sums I’ve just ordered a set of inks from them to put in a 1290S

What sort of image is going on your plaque, would you call it full color or is it text? & which inks are you using?

    Thanks again for your help

    Martin,
noting your comments on mug pricing, any comments on sublimated fabric mousemat prices?

I’ve just got through a set of Rotech C82 inks that have probably only printed about 17-18 photo image mousemats.

The Epson utility shows plenty of ink, but Rotech technical think the cartridges are probably empty!!

Best thing is to get the cd from Listawood, It has a whole lot on it besides the profile, including how to set it up, hints & tips, cooking times etc. One thing, on my C82 you can’t set the DPI manually, least, I haven’t seen where 😆 Different to my 1290s where you have full controll

Without looking at it to remind myself, I think I left the Epson controll on automatic.

Must say I’m colour concious, sublimation is an offshoot from ltd. edition fine art prints were I print on 13×30 inch paper & make my living. I’m managing to match sublimated images to the art images pretty well

    Hi Again.
you can get the profiles from Listawood on a cd, just give them a ring.

To do a nozzle check click on start on the desktop followed bycontroll panel, then printers, view installed printers, right click on the epson ikon, click printing properties, then utility tab. 2nd one down is nozzle check.

For paper type, open an image, click print, then properties, setup print device, properties again. In the middle of the page is paper options, select plain paper, on the same page select photo or best photo, depending on how good you want it, then click page layout & check the mirror image box.

That sets you ready to print. I would now try a print & press it & see what you think of the colours, if you are happy, fire away. Personally I wouldn’t work without the profile, but I am using photographic images, where I am critical about the colors.

If you can’t get them from Listawood try

if you go to the following Listawood page

    http://www.listawoodtradesupplies.co.uk … onHome.htm

on the left of the page is a series of boxes, click on colour management & it will take you to some information & a downloadable page.

Your Epson C82 print drivers are designed to work with the Epson ink carsdges, the Listawood ink without the profile will not give the correct colours when you print. The profiles are simple to install in the C82 & provide the necessary adjustment. There are a couple of mousemats in the gallery if you want to see samples, may not help 😀

I have the C82 as well as a 1290s & must say it’s pretty quiet, the odd occasion the paper feed is noisy but I think that’s when it doesn’t sit squarely in the feeder.

I also use Listawood inks in the C82, are you using the Listawood profiles? Sounds like possibly not. I loaded the profiles from the CD & haven’t had one print that didn’t sublimate properly. I have nothing but praise for the system, I’ll have to leave the mug question to someone else as I am only printing T’s & mousemats at the moment.

    To add my bit:

If you feel you are correct, stick to your guns.

We have the (very) occasional complaint oubout colours with fine art prints, & in our case colour is always subjective. After a good few years experience we now are just polite & point out the relevent facts from our point of view, & leave the customer to simmer down.

Seems to solve the problems, but I must say, we don’t back down to keep the customer.

Some think we are taking a tough line, but we have built up a good business through being fair to the customer…and to ourselves!!

Regarding 6 V4, we make a living from printing ‘fine art’ pictures.

For years we used an Epson A4 stylus 750, then went to a 1290s ( 4 & 6 color respectively) and I would say that although there is a difference technically, when viewed at the correct distance, it’s very hard to tell which printer the picture came from when an A4 is done on both machines!!
