Posted by Linda on September 5, 2003 at 5:19 pmHi all,
just joined up & entering the world of sublimation from the world of fine art printing, so I know not a lot about this. Question is where to get T shirts from in the UK for sublimation printing with my Epson c82 & Rotech inks?Linda

hi try these
xpres on 01332 855085 or
Uk leisurewear 0800 220955
Xpres are the only suppliers of dye sub shirts i know but they sell via uk leisurewear at basically same price and you then have choice of other shirts etcKevin

Hi Kevin,
my, that was quick LOLI’ve just had a delivery from Xpres & am not really impressed with the manufacturing quality. Really looking from something better.
Any idea how I would get on with a 50/50 T?
Best

never tried, you could check out some of the USA dye sub sites it would mean importing them in, you could do by air freight etc depending how many you needed at a time. Just bear in mind the import and vat to pay on things entering the country. You could also try and import a spray additive which allows you to dye sub on to most materials, the write ups good but again have not tried.
Xpres are the only suplliers in this country of dye sub shirts as far as i knowKevin

Yep xpres have the market in the UK at the moment.
I have read that you can sublimate on polycotton, i guess the higher the poly count the better, but there’s not many polycotton t-shirts about either

I have a 60% poly 40% cotton sweat shirt with a sub image on it,
from a distance it looks fine, but up close it looks like it has bleed.. a bit blurry, but i’m not sure if thats the image itself..Simon

Hi Linda,
I dye-sub onto numerous items, I would strongly recommend you take a look at http://www.dyesub.org. They are US based but a wealth of knowledge.
Novachrome also do a dye-sub t-shirt, and I believe Listawood are looking into this also.

There’s a new transfer paper coming out that has a polyester carrier and allows you to print using Subli Inks onto 100% Cotton T’s!

Hi Steve,
any more info on this new paper for dyesub on cotton? You’ve wetted my appetite 😆Thanks to everyone for the quick replies & information. I’m sure I’ll be back on when the first item is printed. Just waiting for the heat press to arrive.

Hi Linda
I get most of my sub stuff from The Transfer Press In princess Risborough, speak to graham or his wife, they are very helpfull and supply a huge range of sublimation imprintables, also with regards inks, try the tropical graphics inks they supply, i have had great results with them, i use a 1290s with the bottle link system -
Hi Linda
We are just about to start sublimation printing as well.
But we are going to wait until we have been to printwear n promotion show at the NEC late feb before we go ahead.

Novachrome also do subli-t’s but Ive never tried them or delt with them Im afraid.
the website is http://www.novachrome.co.uk though if you are interested.
Id like to find out more about this poly covered paper to let you print with subli inks on cotton though – could make life cheaper!

i have used novachromes sub inks… (sawgrass) and was never happy with them, black never really came out black…. Tropical graphics inks work so much better(for me anyway) and they are cheaper 😀
