    Hi Linda,

If I’m just looking to buy the domain I use Easily. They can also host if required.

    URL: easily.co.uk

    Hi Linda,

we use oneandone and they are good, just make sure you know what you want. We have a 100mb webspace which cost us £99.99 per year and then our .com name added a bit more.

Is there any thing else you would like to know?

    Regards

    Stephen

I was paying £264 a year for hosting and not getting a lot extra for my money, I now use 123reg.co.uk good service more than enough web space and the standard package that I have is £2.99 a month, they have a range of packages so if I find I need more bandwidth or I need more space as my site grows it is easy to upgrade.
I’m redoing my site at the moment but before I took the old site down I had 43 pages. It was only meant to be a couple of pages but as time went on it sort of grew arms and legs!!! There were a lot of graphics on the site as well but it still only cost me £2.99 a month.
I now buy all my domain names through them and have no complaints.

    Hi Stephen,
thanks for your input. I’m seriously looking at oneandone & have one more question. How did you go about search engine submission (i’m totally green on websites) 🙂

For domains & space you could try http://www.uk2.net
Web space is a minefield. I have got 5 different hosts at the moment for web space. I only use 2 of them. One is an old one for html pages and files I have. The other runs the php side of things here.
Even the ones i use, although they have a good reputation, give me headaches.
It maybe just how busy this site has become? What i mean is. If the sites down most people don’t even notice it. If your site is busy 24/7 then you will have problems because someone somewhere will hit it when it’s down.
Catches out those so-called perfect hosts.. 😉 🙄
I will be switching this site to a dedicated server soon. This means like most sites on the net it will NOT share the same systems as hundreds of other websites. This slows the site down and can cause bother. Have a dedicated one and things should very smooth & fast. Things should seldom go wrong.. “Touch wood”
This cost a fair bit more though, the one im looking at is about £50 a month. Yes its expensive, but that’s just one of the reasons you guys are paying for access to some areas of this site.
Anyway.. there is tons of low cost hosts out there but try look for the reason they are low cost and what code& functions they support. Best of luck!

I think this is a Scandinavian company but they seem to cater for the English market amongst others….they advertise at Kazaa. But seem to offer quite a lot at very low prices. b-one.net

    Hi Linda

I can’t comment on the pros & cons of different web hosts, but mine has been very helpful, virtualnames.co.uk.

I have some experience in search engine submission and optimisation, give me a call if you need a hand and some pointers to software.

    Cheers

    Hi Linda,

Before I became a signmaker I sold online advertising, so I do know abit about website promotion.

Are you making your own website or are you getting some one else to?

    Regards
