I run an Epson 980 with Xpres Sublimation Inks.

There Technical Department have been very helpful but I still have a problem with colour strength.

When Xpres changed there inks from Sawgrass (which used colour correction software) to own brand which doesn’t, the results direct from Corel Draw 9 were fine. With Sawgrass Inks the transfer would look pale but print ok, with the new ones it would look as good on the paper as when transferred. Now both the transfer and the finished job look slightly washed out, although the colours seem to be in place.

However, I’m wondering if I have a blockage on one of the colours, how I clean the heads and if there’s anything else in the set up I can look at?

In our 1290 we use rotech inks printed straight from corel with few problems and on colour correction software, your best bet is to give a head clean, if you go into control panel and printers select your printer and there it will give you options for head clean, beware this does use up ink!

Not in this case it doesn’t. 😳 .I’ve just done a head clean, and the lights are flashing………..I think the cartridge has run out 😳 😳 😳

I guess it’s showing as having some ink as It appears I still have plenty of Cyan and magenta??

Martin, might be a daft question but have you done a nozzle check print? That will tell you if a color, or 2, is missing

I’m using the Xpress ink on a 1290s & find it every bit as good as the Rotech I previously used in a C82.

Do you use the Xpres paper (I think I remember you do)

I’m pretty sure it’s out of Ink, even though the PC’s print ‘manager’ didn’t show this at first. The nozzle check shows I’m out of black. The print manager says I’m out of colour! the flashing light on the printer says I’m also out of colour.

Bee trying to talk to Xpres again. Don’t want to buy new Ink if it’s a cleaning issue.

I use Epson Photo Quality paper.
