It only takes a team of officers doing a VLP ( visiting licenced premises )on the address, which they can do without notice, to see the posters and if they don’t recognise them they will take them down and investigate.
I use to spend entire shifts doing this, checking pubs, clubs etc and part of the check was to have a look in the toilets for drug paraphernalia/users. That’s when they would be spotted.
Really not worth it.

I use darkjet transfer paper from xpres, print a label slightly smaller than the original make the colour dark enough to cover makers name and heat press on. You can do all kinds of different labels and number them with phone no,web address etc or number for limited editions if selling fashion T’s.
Works for me on most labels and some that have the care instructions on the back are the easiest.
Hope this helps

MemberAugust 7, 2007 at 12:38 pm in reply to: do i put Multiple colours of fabric vinyl on at once? What garment vinyl are you using, some are ok to layer others are not, like gold or certain ones like easycut etc.
You can do the colours one at a time and they can overlap/layer no probs.
Put the first colour on and press, maybe for slightly less time, remove backing put second colour on and cover any exposed already pressed vinyl with silicon paper or whatever you use, press again for full time. Remove backing.
This should work fine however i have noticed in the past that if some backing lies across the already pressed vinyl it can leave a mark. If this happens just cover entire design when finished and press again with protective paper for the full time.
Try on a scrap t-shirt first.
Hope this helps

Hi,
We use the mug wraps that you put in the oven, 4-8 at a time in an oven is much quicker and very easy to use. No good for doing one or two.

Hi Rob,
I use vinyl and sub printing and have used bought in transfers for promotional t-shirts, workwear etc but as Rob says unless you already have a contact or buyer for your designs then it will be hard to launch your own range.
The companies who print for you will have minimum orders which will probably be too many for you to start with, then you got labels, packaging and tickets etc to add to the price.
To get someone to do a few or one-offs will be expensive and with so much competition out there it would be hard work to sell them. Just look at ebay, there are usually about 100,000 t-shirts for sale at any one time, they are cheap and with all the costs to list and paypal you would have to sell alot to make even a basic wage.
The other way to do it is start doing work wear/promotional t-shirts and with the equipment ( cutter/heat press ) you can do a few one offs etc, find customers and go from there. There are ways to add your own label without removing the original ones.
It will be hard but if it’s just a hobby or for a little extra cash you can do it without risking much.
Hope this helps

I use Ralawise alot, just checked their discounted stuff for you, which they send in a new e-mail each morning but no Kelly green, most other colours and only £1.
Never had a wrong order or wrong items yet (touch wood), excellent service.

I had a yellow pages add for my last business and i always asked where the customer had got my details, from memory the amount that called from the pages was no where near enough to cover costs. Flyers and yell.com are the best.
Try and get more than one free add on yell, if you put the same/similar business name but in different similar categories you can have more than one ad. I’ve got 3 free listings.
I take it you’ve had them pestering as i have this week!

i did a test t-shirt a while ago with xpres vinyl, easy cut, has been washed 20+ times at 40 no difference at all. Still looks new but t-shirt now showing a bit of wear!
i’ve never had any back yet and people who first ordered are buying more so it must be ok.
i have tried poly-flex once and it’s not quite as good, all xpres stuff seems excellent and not expensive.
Lee
-
That sounds far too long for any vinyl, i use xpres 10 – 15 seconds at 160-170 degrees medium pressure, no problems yet.
If they cook too long too high temp and wrong pressure you will destroy the vinyl and backing no wonder it’s ruined the t-shirts.
Are there any instructions with the vinyl?
-
they look smart, are they garment vinyl or printed?
-
What about WOW paper from magictouch or sublimation flock for small things, not used either yet myself, WOW is only just coming out and needs laser printer.
That’s the big problem with sub printing only on white or pastel and very limited styles. Transfer papers are two stiff for large areas i find.
If i get some decent room i think i’ll have a go at screen printing.
Are you thinking of work wear or is it for fashion clothing?
-
You can lease them, but at the moment they seem far too expensive to buy unless you had alot of work for one, but then you would prob be better getting a basic screenprint setup for £1k.

HI,
Haven’t got a rabbit but i have had similar happen, the random cut lines might just be you need to clear or reset the cutter after each cut. I’ve had it a few times and that usually cures it.
When you cut do you mean the letter looks like it’s made of lots of small lines but is OK on screen? Try increasing the cutting speed it might be cutting too slow so letters are not smooth.
hope that helps

Nothing like that in vector but you could get someone to print it full colour as it is onto t-shirt transfer paper and press it on. If it’s just a one off it would be quickest option.

Looked on the net, nothing cheap enough to sell on really and make it worth while. I’m doing t-shirts and signs for them so i don’t need a massive mark up but some would be nice.
Can i use a vinyl stencil and spray/colour in some way?? Bearing in mind they are used for foodstuffs.

It’s been mentioned before on here, have you looked at B&Q metal trestle thingies.

Hi Bill,
I don’t know of any disc but if he is an artist should not be a problem to come up with a unique design, which will be better than all those ‘tacky’ designs going around.
If you need the design bigger and its just words then cut the paper up after printing and spread the design around the t-shirt a bit.
I have an A4 system and no problems so far.Has he done any designs yet and printed them? Don’t concentrate on hen and stag stuff, why not sell his own designs.
My mum had the same probs with epilepsy, but she’s learned to ignore what other people think and go for it. It’s a bigger problem for other people than for her!
Good luck Bill and if you need any more help etc just ask.

I have only heard of ink migrating from hard objects ( mugs, placemats etc ) to certain plastic packaging and i’ve read somewhere that it’s best to store/package these in tissue paper and then plastic bags.
Never seen it or had it happen myself and not heard of it in garments.
Have a look at subli-nation.co.uk forums because it was discussed there some time ago.

The canvas must be separate from the frame, let me know if you speak b4 i do.
I’ll have to dig out an invoice, the easy cut comes in sheets, can’t remember what i paid for flex, last time i went to order flock i asked for a sample so i could see the true colour and she sent me enough to do the job!
I get a lot of stuff from themagictouch by the metre, who do you use most?
Oooops we’ve hi-jacked the thread 😀
-
i was thinking that, had visions of squeezing the frame in the press, i’ll give them a call i think and see, if they are any good they will be a very cheap alternative at about £4 each.
i might go for the xpres sub sample set coz it’s got a lot of good looking samples and a canvas frame, save buying 20 of them.
-
Steve have you tried sub printing onto canvas? i was thinking of getting some but not sure what the results would be. Xpres do canvas on frames for sub printing.

MemberMay 16, 2007 at 9:36 am in reply to: does anyone have any Heat press vinyl weeding tips please?hi all,
there are vinyls that don’t have sticky carriers and xpres easy cut has more like a paper backing. Comes in sheets not rolls
It’s very easy to weed but you have to be careful you don’t rip the design because until it’s applied it is more fragile. When applied it’s great, good matt finish, tough, stretchy and can be ironed, tumble dried and washed up to 90 degrees. Some of these types are screen print inks with pigment on a carrier so not vinyl.
Contact all the manufacturers and get samples, i got loads when i started and it helped me to choose the one that i could work with best.
Cheers

Marcella, have you changed your picture again?
-
Is it for their car park, which is private land? Parking fines are only for public highways so it’s a private matter.
It should be up to them to tell you the fine etc.

If you put all the avatar pictures of Marcella together you can make an interesting ‘flip book’, so I’ve been told.

maybe that’s not grass, it might be a huge hole covered in green tarpaulin and grass cuttings so if you drive on it you’ll fall in. Like those traps they build in the A Team. 😀

xpres do precut metal plates in a variety of colours/finish, not sure of the size. I think about 50p each but in packs of 20. Can be sub-printed onto or vinyl. That or go to B&Q
-
I was too martin.
I know what you’re saying about local number etc, but as i’m working from home at the moment and looking for somewhere to work from i did’nt want another phone line put in at a cost of around £150 if i’m moving.
The 0845 number would route to mobile so it would’nt matter where i was and if i get a place then i can use local and 0845.
I just think people are more likely to call an 0845 rather than a mobile even though it’s the same thing, customers probably would’nt think it was a mobile.
-
Cheers Martin,
i think the best way to go is with BT at the moment, means i don’t have to change phones etc and should get a reliable service! Once you get your number it can also be transfered from one phone to another mobile or landline.
Thanks for all advice given.

Hi squeak,
If you only got a few to do you could ask xpres or the magic touch for samples of transfer paper and print your own. You will need a printer that uses durabrite ink or similar and heat press.
Either that or flock/vinyl if you have a cutter.
