hi
i neverfound the easy way iam shore there is to do a simple half tone fade i think its called half tone anyway
once i scaned a edge half tone print and placed circles over it this gave the correct spacing and percetage reduction of sizes then copied the section to fitt the area concerened. it worked that time.chris

i dont think it would need a backing as the board sits in the frame
just some pannel clips to keep the boards from seperatingchris

just re read your note
it was not until i used rip 2B & firmware 4.5 did the machine reregister correctlychris
-
rodney
i have been following this thread but could not put in writing whot i was trying to surjest
you are well on the case in most of these things
if i am doing reversed out on to clear then back with white i cut the white away where the dots are for the machine to read them this has worked very well
having the sol find the marks the 00 point has moved to the right angle of the first dot
i have not tried to replicate these dots & bar in to a print manually but cant see why not extreame care with there alignment though after the sol has found the markers just a cut only file should do itchris
-
just trhinking out loud
the machine that cuts mounts for photos they are modified plotters that cut shapes even beveled edges and as that stuff 5mm soft foam board is used as backings sometimes they should be able to give you a answer
the thought of cutting them by hand ? but you would be good at it by the time you have finnishedchris
-
now dont all jump up and down but the best quickest readly available glue cleaner i have found is petrol
it don’t damage the paint cos people spill it all over there car at the pumps

hi rodney
very tastefull web site but to be honist may require a bit more artistic zing but it gets over whot you do and how good you are at it.
whish i could find the time to revamp mine its so dated nowthank you for the tip given to a versa chap that is just about the only profile i have not tried because i am having a load of trouble with reds on uncoated material with my soljet now converted to EX its banding but its not a mechanical band more of a ink yellow & mag not blending together sort of band jusing metamark digital at the moment any ideas.
roland told me thats as good as it gets but i know it can do better
on the roland eco vinyl it prints perfect at respecable speeds but its also ment to do that on uncoated vinyl.chris

hi im not expert but this is whot i have found
printing on to clear even with a opel back board i have found to be still to wishy washy there is in most rips a double print mode if the vinyl can hold the extra ink for this reasonso i print to white vinyl and put that on the opel beware some white vinyls have a grey backing dont use those overlaminate to suit the enviroment

cherwells are nice with the ft cover so you can letter the standard message

interesting whot you say about storing materials i have found apa materials to be very acepable to damp far more so than any other make
i once sent them a photo entitled self reguvinating vinyl which was a shot of the end of a roll that had groun in width by 5 mm to 0 mm about 5 turns in if i was to leave it mounted in the soljet over night i would have to dicard 1 mt before i could use it again other makes not a problemchris

the error code is something like a firmware check problem
roland tech might give you the code to reset the firmware else its bust and needs the doctor
have you tried switching off the MAIN switch (on the left end plate) wait at least a min then switch main on then sub main switch on might workchris

As frog juice has been brought up
I have used it on and off for years pefering to stick a lump of clear on but i am at present having a bad time with frog juice
redo 11 vans has that got your attention 😳
4 weeks and the frog is degrading and spoiling the print done this way cus of tricky print & cut after lots of consultation no real reason has yet come forward
The only advice i can give at present is its posibly dogey on solvent type prints the problem is only after fitting spare bits in the work shop are still perfect 8 weeks on not isolated to one van all cleaned diferently .
one other job showing simular signs.
only common thing is there all merc vitos & sprinters and contain a lot of red
roland soljet pro2 roland vinyl
smaller 10×2 inch stuff still perfect after 11 months on all sorts of things so there we have a tail of woe it does say some where that you are responsable as to its suitability of use.chris mrsticker

MemberJanuary 14, 2004 at 7:30 pm in reply to: can anyone help please with cut-paths in corel?to all
coreldraw has come to the fore (not front) posibly because of all the print & cut stuf about its whot software you are used to is how easy or difficult
corel is…… software is only a tool to help you ??
there are tricks in signlab & others that are realy good an not so easy to duplicate in corel but the number of times i need to doit is so small it’nt worth the dosh But i have been using corel to cut from for about 6 years & put my money into printers cutters
so Mark the choice is yours with roland & others pushing the use of corel & illistrator it would not surprise me if the likes of signlab etc might be a little woorried one local chap still uses a DOS programme.. works for him
sorry of the fhread and on me soap box tis bl//// clold boychris

Chris Wool
MemberJanuary 13, 2004 at 7:05 pm in reply to: can anyone help please with cut-paths in corel?so you get them too
in the nib box is scale with image & fill behind check boxes for the outlines
creating surround cut path
you could take a copy break it apart and weld the important bits
then contour outside to suit
you could draw shapes then weld shapes together
you could convert a copy to bit map make it all as black as posible
gamma etc… convert to one bit black & white then corel trace
remove bits you dont want then contor for the distance away from the image
you could tell the customer you done this you sort it out
you could lose the job
but thake time to learn to draw with the bez bezia drawing thing cos
you will be suprised how quick it can be and how nice you can get the curves
out of interest you might send me the file so i can see how bit the problem realy ischris mrsticker (mod-edit)

only suited to bolder low run stuff cos if a corner lifted you could not dry to stick it back down also cant remember supplier but it was a ink screen supplier simular film but was cured on to the mesh by a special glue apparently blasted clean when finnishedsorry cant add names to stuff

hi john
just had a look at your web site and that has solved a few problems for me and resonably local saltashthe pc 600 will cut smaller well because of its printing resolution there for controling the head better and if i want to cut something small 3mm lettering i use my pc 60 dedicated cutters will do it (before you all start shouting) but is less of a chore and you dont need a following wind with the sun shining but for about 10 mm upwards any quality servo driven
cutter should be ok I can here the key boards already
chris mrsticker -
there is on the pc60 a engineer only ? menu for aligning the head to carts and the adjustments are on the curser keys not mechanical
you will have to ask beg the page from the engineers manual
roland might fax it to you or has anyone the page in question for a 600chris
