Posted by Gazza on January 16, 2004 at 10:34 am

Anyone have any £reasonably priced” 2nd hand cutting software for sale, must be genuine with manuals etc. I use a P.C. running WinXP Pro, AthlonXP2700 with 3 GB ram.
    Thanks,
    Gaz

    Gazza,

Give SignGo a try the best/only budget sign program on the market if you hurry you’ll beat the price increase too.

Even second hand copies of Signlab and FlexiSign will cost you more.

Alternatively get your self corel draw and cut from that.

Hi, I already have Coreldraw 11 and i am using a Roland PNC-960, but just feel I would rather keep this for design and cut through another package, just don’t yet know which one though! so just seeing if anything is on offer here. Ta. Gaz

    Gazza,

You say you want to keep corel for designing, and use something else to cut.

Any sign software is going to be very expensive if your only using the cutting part of it.

I would suggest you stick with corel – you can cut direct from corel with roland cutters using their printer driver, the cutter is installed as a printer.

Alternatively, you could look at something like co-cut and signtools which are add ons for corel so you can cut from it.

Even better a little while ago a program called signscript was added to the file swapping section, this is free and will allow you to design in corel and cut in signscript.

VMP does the business, great package.

    retails @ £500 + VAT

It`s got to be worth a look, Grafityp 01827 300500

it doesn`t have a dongle, it uses a password.

Hi gazza, If you using corel 11, why don’t you get a copy of signtools 3
which comes with a password ,instead of a dongle. It comes up as a small
box in corel and you can cut straight from corel then. Oh and it’s about 200 quid

As Lorraine says, if you already have Corel 11 and a roland plotter, Download the driver foc from roland web site and cut direct from corel. No need for seperate cutting software when using corel with roland plotters, regards Doug Edwards

WOW 😮 Why didn’t I know about cutting direct from Corel, I am just about to spend £1700 on Signlab!
There must be some drawbacks or everyone would be doing it (if they had Roland plotters).

    What are they? Please

    I wouldn’t go spending that amount if you’re starting out !!! 😮 😮

If you’re using corel you need to convert all your outlines to .001 (i think),
I used to do it about 3 years ago but I bought vinylmaster pro for 500 dollars at the time, and they shipped it from New York to Bristol via fedex in 3 days but they have dealers in the UK now.
It’s very easy to use and has a huge amount of features – I’m told similar to the top Signlab version.
At the end of the day , it’ll take you a couple of weeks to learn to use corel for vinyl cutting, so do the math….1700quid ( signlab as you said)…..divided by two weeks learning corel……..850 of the folding per week to pay yourself……..I know what I’d be doing.
    START > PROGRAMS > CORELDRAW 😉
    Cheers
